DANCE I NSPIRA TI O N CO MPANY AUDI T I O NS WHO: WHAT: WHEN: WHERE: WHY: HOW: Available to all students who meet specific requirements for each company Auditions for The Nebraska Pride Cloggers and The Dance Co. August 8 th & 9 th (read packet for breakdown of times) Dance Inspiration Studio, 10235 Wiesman Dr. (North of 103 rd and Fort St) To adjudicate students who wish to be considered for one or both of the teams Students are asked to demonstrate certain skills, and perform short combinations taught that day. They will be judged on technique, ability to learn, performance, and personality. GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUDITION: Students who wish to be considered for one or both competition teams must attend the audition. Every dancer who meets the requirements must go through the process at the beginning of each season. In other words, just because someone made it into the company one year DOES NOT mean they will be guaranteed in the company the following year. This means current members need to continually work on technique, abide by rules, and maintain a positive attitude. Everyone who auditions will receive a letter within a week after the audition date which will state if they have/have not been chosen to participate in the team this season. There are numerous factors that go into the adjudication process, and decisions are final. **IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: The competition teams are for the more serious dancer who is willing to put in a greater amount of time and energy than is required by a normal technique class. The teams are not for students whose other activities conflict with rehearsal times, workshops, or competitions. This also means a greater financial responsibility for the parent/guardian. Please consider the commitment you are making before you audition. The reason Dance Inspiration structures its companies around auditions, strict rules, and re-evaluation is to uphold a fair system the leads to dedication, teamwork, and fun! Parents and dancers, please remember that if you are not 100% sure you will be able to or want to be in the companies, do not audition. Many times it will be a close call between who is accepted and who is not- if I accept a dancer only to have them later decide not to participate that is not fair to those who were turned away. Keep in mind also when you are auditioning for the Dance Co. you are actually auditioning to be in routines that will be competing this season. It is quite possible for you to be in only one or two of the numbers, or as many as ALL of the routines. If this is not satisfactory to you for any reason, or is financially not possible for you to handle, DO NOT AUDITION. The choreographers decide on the cast for each dance, not parents or students. It is a privilege to be on either of the competition teams- not a right. Both teams are very competitive and I take each dancer for what they have shown me in the past, and primarily for how they perform at the audition. Information about Dance Co. Solos: The focus of the Dance Co. is on team/group routines. However, solo opportunities will be given on a limited basis each season based on audition evaluation and past performance. Solos will be performed by Dance Co. dancers, but not considered part of the team repertoire - therefore, rehearsal will be scheduled outside of team rehearsal times, and cost for choreography and rehearsal will be in addition to your monthly company fee. After choreography is learned, dancers will be required to meet for a minimum of two rehearsals before each registered competition. There is extra financial commitment required for soloists. If you are chosen for a solo a deposit of $150 will be required once the season begins in order to hold your spot. If you are interested in a solo, please mark your audition form and you will be evaluated during the audition for eligibility, and notified in your letter. If you have additional questions regarding solo opportunities, please contact us. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING PAGES CAREFULLY FOR DESCRIPTIONS OF THE TEAMS, RULES FOR EACH, AND THE AUDITION SCHEDULE/REGISTRATION FORM.

DANCE CO. DESCRIPTION: The Dance Co. is available for students who have had at least one year of any dance technique (not including clogging). In order to be considered, the student must be enrolled in at least 2 dance technique classes at Dance Inspiration Studio. Members of this company attend local and national dance competitions and workshops throughout the year. The dances will include a variety of styles and techniques. The size of the company varies year to year based on the choreographic ideas of the instructors. Members of the Dance Co. may be involved in as little as one number or as many as all the numbers choreographed; this must be understood. Regardless, each member pays a $50/mo rehearsal fee Sept-June (10 month scale to reflect summer rehearsal times). No yearly discounts available on this fee. Dance Co. rehearsals and technique sessions will be scheduled on Saturdays between 9:00am-5:00pm. Extra rehearsal days/times will be added if needed. Dancers will only attend when rehearsing a dance they are in, or if there is a company call. Schedules will be posted weekly. RULES/REQUIREMENTS: 1. Student has had at least one full year of dance technique (not including clogging), and is currently enrolled in two technique classes at Dance Inspiration. 2. Student are not allowed to be involved in a competition team at another studio. 3. Student must be able to attend the weekly rehearsals during the time set aside for the Dance Co. (Saturdays 9AM- 5PM). 4. Attendance Policy: Dancers are allowed 4 absences per season. If a student reaches 5 absences they will be suspended from the team including remaining rehearsals, workshops, and competitions. Please read below to understand what counts as a miss Misses: - if a dancer misses any rehearsal scheduled for 45 min or longer = 1 miss. - if a dancer misses any rehearsal scheduled for 30 min or less = ½ miss. - if a dancer misses one DAY of rehearsal in which they missed 3 or more routines scheduled to rehearse = 2 misses - if a dancer is late to rehearsal, that counts as part of a miss, ex. being 30 min late to an hour long rehearsal= ½ miss. 5. Members are required to attend at least one FULL day dance workshop and all of the chosen regional/national dance competitions for the season. (competition dates will be posted before the audition). 6. Members are required to take the summer dance intensive. 7. Members must maintain a positive attitude towards dance, instructors, and other students. 8. Members must audition at the beginning of every season to be considered for the company the following year. It is understood that past performance, attitude, attendance, and other factors are taken into consideration when members are being re-evaluated for the company.
