Welcome to the Tina Marie School of Dance Competitive program! We are starting our 2018-2019 competition season with auditions in June and starting Intermediate/Elite rehearsal in September. All dancers will receive their placement for classes and rehearsal schedule in August. Intermediate/Elite workshop will also be earlier as not to conflict with our competition rehearsal schedule. In order for TMSOD to begin working on the yearly schedule, dancers class placements and the formation of competition routines, we must first have a total count of all committed competition dancers for the season. Many hours go into this process each year, therefore enrolling early this season will hopefully help to alleviate any unforeseen delays in getting the above information back to you as quickly as possible. When dancers drop routines after being placed, choose not to compete after signing the commitment form, or have personal scheduling conflicts and are unable to be in a routine they were selected for, it then creates a spot that then must be filled. Early enrollment will now give us ample amount of time to address issues prior to September when many dancers have already been placed in their respective and allotted groups and are no longer eligible to fill a spot they may have been more suitable for. Please read and review the following information with your child regarding our competition program and all that it entails. Should you choose to make a commitment to an intensive dance education and wish to become a part of our TMSOD competitive family, we think you ll agree that our staff only has your dancer s best interest at heart. We look forward to a wonderful competition season with you as a part of our TMSOD competitive dance family and hope that you are equally as excited for all that is to come! COMMITMENT A true commitment, positive attitude and dedication are expected of our dancers and parents at all times both in the studio and at all studio related events. All dancers are responsible for practicing on their own time prior to attending the next scheduled class. They must stay committed in doing so, not only out of respect for the instructors and their classmates, but also for their own benefit. Being unprepared for class by not knowing the prior week's material is unacceptable. Once you commit to joining the TMSOD team, competition students will not be allowed to take dance lessons at any other studio, due to conflict of interest.

SUPPORTING OUR STUDIO Our TMSOD Company is a FAMILY and it takes all of us to make our season run smoothly. The entire behind the scenes support is critical for our company's success. The support of our competition parents is needed at each recital to help with changing students, to monitor dancers, work the concessions and many other tasks. The Premier families will place a $25 deposit and Intermediate & Elite families will place a $50 deposit. If your commitment is fulfilled, a credit will be given towards summer tuition. Commitment requirements~ Premier dancer - Family will be required to work at least 1 recital performance. Intermediate & Elite dancer - Family will be required to work at least 2 recital performances. (Not including ushering) COMMITTEES As we come together as a team, our parent committees become invaluable. Our committees made some great strides this year as the first year out with the committees. As we move into this upcoming year we only see it getting better and possibly new committees being formed as needed! Our Fun & Food committee allowed families to come together at the competition. The Fundraising committee had some great ways for families to subsidize their dance bill this past year. If anyone is interested in adding to the TMSOD groups, please email us and let us know. ATTENDANCE - Consistent attendance must be maintained for all classes, rehearsals, competitions and workshops. - Excessive absences or late arrival from a regular class or competition routine could lead to dismissal from one competition routine. More absences could result in the loss of multiple competition routines. - If you have a conflict and know you are going to be absent, you must send an email to info@tmsod.com. - For an unexpected absence, call the studio where the student's class is being held. - At no time should dancers/parent use Group Me or text a staff member for an absence. - A sick dancer should not attend class. - An injured dancer should attend class to keep up with the new material being taught. - If a dancer's injury prevents them from participating in class 3-4 weeks prior to the competition, the dancer will not be able to participate in the competition per studio discretion. - Parents are responsible for ensuring their child arrives on time. Consistently late or absent students slow the progress of the entire team. Groups cannot rehearse productively as a unit when dancers are missing. CLASS ATTIRE All company members will be required to wear leotard and tights & hair must be pulled back in a bun to all Ballet, Pointe, Stretch, Technique and Turns & Jumps classes. There will be no exceptions made. For Hip Hop classes & Hip Hop rehearsals dancers should wear hip hop attire. For Jazz/Lyrical, Tap, Acro, and all competition rehearsal classes: dancers must have dance attire and hair pulled back. T-shirts of any kind are not to be worn in class. Students not properly dressed will not be able to participate in class.

CLASS INFORMATION All students accepted for the 2018-2019 competition season will be required to attend core classes and competition rehearsals. Dancers may be scheduled for required core classes & rehearsals at both studio locations. The studio will handle all class placements for Intermediate & Elite students by placing the dancers into groups according to their age, technique and ability. Intermediate & Elite company members are required to take summer classes Ballet, Turns & Jumps and Jazz/Lyrical. PREMIER DANCERS will dance 2 days a week (which includes core classes & competition rehearsals) and are required to enroll in Ballet and Jazz. A Premier Turns & Jumps will be offered back-to back with the Premier group rehearsal. Any additional classes may be taken and will enhance the dancer s education. Premier students may select their classes from our Fall Class Schedule at the studio of your choice. Competition rehearsal will be held at the Shelby location on Saturday. It is highly suggested that you enroll your dancer in a Turns & Jumps class in addition to their regular class schedule. This class will also be on Saturday at the Shelby studio. INTERMEDIATE DANCERS will dance 2 days a week (which includes core classes & competition rehearsals) and must enroll in Ballet, Jazz/Lyrical, Turns & Jumps and any class subject that they are competing in. Any additional classes may be taken and will enhance the dancer s education. The studio will contact you with the days and times available for your core classes. Competition rehearsal will be held at the Shelby location. ELITE DANCERS will dance 3-4 days a week (which includes core classes & competition rehearsals) and must enroll in Ballet, Jazz/Lyrical, Turns & Jumps, Technique and any class subject they are competing in. Dancers must also take at least one of the following classes: Stretch, Tap, Hip Hop or Acrobatics. Any additional classes may be taken and will enhance the dancer s education. The studio will contact you with the days and times available for your core classes. TUITION For the competitive dance program, there is competition tuition in addition to core class tuition which will cover the cost of all group rehearsals. A choreography fee will NOT be charged for any group routines. All tuition payments are due on the first week of the month. Premier - September class tuition, registration fee, completed agreement form & enrollment form must be turned in by August 10 th. Premier competition rehearsal tuition will be due starting in October. Intermediate & Elite - September class & competition tuition, registration fee, completed agreement form & enrollment form must be turned in by July 5 th. This will ensure to TMSOD your true commitment to our competitive program. The studio needs ample amount of time to create advanced placement for the students core classes & our competition groups & lines. For class tuition, please refer to the TMSOD website. PAY THE YEAR IN FULL (10 MONTHS) BY OCTOBER 31 st & RECEIVE A 10% DISCOUNT. (This can be class tuition, competition tuition or both combined) The competition rehearsal tuition rates are as follows: Premier $30.00 per month Intermediate $45.00 per month Elite $60.00 per month

COMPETITION REHEARSALS Each competition routine will have a designated rehearsal time slot. Rehearsal times may be extended or reduced if necessary. Extra rehearsals may be scheduled during the months of February-April as the competitions approach. There will be no additional charge for extended or additional rehearsals regardless of how many hours are added. Schedule updates will be posted on our website and an email will be sent out to the dancers & familes. WORKSHOPS The workshop fees will range from $90 - $100 per day. Registration & payment forms will be posted online prior to workshop dates. In case of an unavoidable conflict in which the student cannot attend, the student will be required to attend an alternate workshop designated by the studio. In addition to the required workshops, any other workshops or intensives that students are interested in attending are encouraged as long as they do not conflict with any TMSOD rehearsals. Workshops are intended to enhance the students dancing and learning abilities. Additional orkshop dates will be announced later in the year. Premier dancers will attend a one day workshop posted later in the year. Intermediate dancers will attend the September 8-9 workshop. Intermediate dancers are also encouraged to attend any other workshops that are offered, but are not required. Elite dancers will attend the September 8-9 workshop & 3 additional days of workshops classes. REGIONALS & ENTRY FEES The competition dates will be posted on the website in December. The studio will charge $50 - $60 per group routine for regional entry fees. Entry fees are adjusted to cover the cost of background work that allows our dancers to compete. TMSOD incurs many additional expenses for creating the groups, group choreography, competition research, data input, music selection & editing, clerical services and music licensing fees. No refunds are given for any entry fees. If a student is unable to participate in any of the regional group routines due to another commitment or injury, the original dancer is still responsible for regional entry fees. The understudy puts in extra time and effort to learn the routine with, at times, minimal notice and will not be obligated to pay the regional fee. Premier routines will participate in 1 regional competition. Intermediate routines will participate in 2 regional competitions. Elite routines will participate in 4 regional competitions. Awards - Our studio does not assess a choreography fee for groups or lines therefore all awards and gift certificates won by groups will be awarded to the studio. All awards received by solos, duets & trios will be awarded to the students in the form of a credit toward the dancers account, due to the fact that a choreography fee was applied.

TMSOD COMPANY JACKET The Premier & Intermediate jacket for this season, will be the same Premier and Intermediate dancer s jacket as last years. The Elite rhinestone jacket will be the same Elite dancer s jacket as last years. If a dancer does not already have the proper jacket for their team, one must be purchased. If the dancer has out grown the jacket, a new one should be purchased. Required jackets will be worn to competitions and events to help us look like a cohesive unit. Black legging will be needed at every competition to be worn at awards and in between routines. Premier and Intermediate jackets cost $70. Elite jacket cost $125. COSTUMES A non-refundable costume & shoe deposit is due on September 10 th. All alterations & rhinestones will be provided by the studio and included in the costume cost. All Hip Hop routines will purchase their competition shoes through the studio. The competition shoes, tights, undergarments, and jewelry will be an additional cost to the student and a list of the required items will be provided and available on our competition log in page. The studio remains the owner of each costume until all costume charges for each costume have been paid in full. Premier and Intermediate will pay a $75 deposit per costume and each costume will range from $120 - $150 per costume. Elite dancers will pay $100 per costume deposit and each costume will range from $150 - $195 per costume. Dancers in a Hip Hop routine will pay a $50.00 shoe deposit per routine. This deposit will also include all group dances & solo/duet/trio costume deposit. PROP FEE All students are required to pay a prop fee whether or not each routine has a prop. This will cover the cost of designing, building, painting, storing, and transporting all props to competitions and recitals. Premier dancers will pay a $35 prop fee. Intermediate dancers will pay a $45 prop fee. Elite dancers will pay a $55 prop fee. SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES Videos and pictures from classes or workshops that are to be posted to the internet need to be approved by the teacher/choreographer. Any posting of class videos or items taped at TMSOD should be done in a professional and positive manner. It is of the utmost importance that TMSOD Company members and families represent themselves properly inside and outside the studio. Please, no improper language or pictures are to be posted of any dancer that could negatively represent themselves or TMSOD. Failure to comply could result in dismissal from the Company with no refunds of any kind.

COMPETITION DISMISSAL If dismissed from a competition routine, as a courtesy to the group, your costume must be returned to the studio. The costume will be returned to you after the season is completed. Students not completing the competition season will not be refunded for rehearsal fees, class fees, entry fees, workshops or costumes. Poor attendance, repeated tardiness, friction between students, and behavior/attitude unbecoming of a TMSOD student or parent could result in dismissal of a student at any time from individual routines or the competition program. (This includes social media). Contact with any competitions and/or costume companies are strictly prohibited and may result in dismissal. All dismissals will be at the discretion of the studio. Any situation regarding a prolonged injury will be looked at on an individual basis. Students may be dismissed from the competition program if they have outstanding balances, including regular class tuition. GROUPS AND LINES Groups will be formed by audition scores, age, ability and summer evaluation. TMSOD will decide which dancers are in which routines. If a dancer is not chosen for a particular routine, it does not mean that he or she is not a good dancer. It may mean that TMSOD has an idea of what the dance is to look like, and maybe this particular dancer is not right for that particular dance. A dancer may dance one division lower but not up. For example: An Elite dancer may have the opportunity to dance in an Intermediate dance & an Intermediate dancer may have the opportunity to dance in a Premier dance. Premier dancers will be in 1 competitive jazz routine Intermediate dancers will be in 2 competitive routines. Elite dancers may dance in an unlimited number of competitive routines, but must participate in 4 groups in order to be an Elite competitor. Small groups, large groups and lines will be determined by the above criteria and the amount of routines the dancer is allowed to participate in. Dancers competing in 5 or more groups will be considered for small groups. UNDERSTUDIES An understudy is a reserve dancer used when an original dancer cannot participate in a performance. The understudy will not be charged for the rehearsals, entry fee or costumes. The original dancer will be responsible to get the costume to the understudy and the understudy will need to return the costume to the original dancer in good condition after competing. The ORIGINAL dancer will be responsible for all entry fees. If a circumstance arises where there is a need to use an understudy, the selection will be based on the compatibility with the original dancer s costume size and ability. REPLACEMENTS A replacement dancer is a student who replaces an original dancer that is unable to complete the competition season. The replacement will be required to pay the entry fees and costume fees. In some cases, the replacement dancer will be one of the understudies. However, since understudies need to be kept in place in case of emergencies, a replacement dancer could be another dancer chosen by the studio based on what will be best and most beneficial for the group.

ELITE DANCERS ONLY - SOLO - DUET - TRIO All Elite dancers are eligible for a solo, duet or trio. If interested be sure to check the box on the agreement form. Solos, duets and trios are selected from group audition scores and summer class evaluations. Students accepted for a duet or trio will be assigned a duet or trio partner(s) at the studios discretion. Students accepted for duets & trios will be notified in October. Students interested in duet & trios cannot request their partner/partners. Solo-Duet- Trio are completely optional. Entry fees for solos range from $100-$145 and entry fees for duets/trios range from $50-$75 per dancer. The studio rates are as follows: Solo- Duet- Trio- *$250 choreography fee *$20 per 30 minute rehearsal *$300 choreography fee to be split by 2 dancers *$15.00 each person per 30 minute rehearsal *$350 choreography fee to be split by 3 dancers *$10.00 each person per 30 minute rehearsal STUDIO POLICIES During class time, instructors devote their time solely to the students. Do not personally contact instructors or office staff on their cell phones. All questions regarding a specific matter for the instructor, studio or competition must be sent to the studio using one of the following methods: email: info@tmsod.com or call: 586-726-2332 (Shelby location). Your concerns will be forwarded to the instructor or studio staff & you will be contacted at their earliest convenience. Parents and families cannot create studio clothing or TMSOD logos without our permission. No refunds of any kind will be given for tuition or competition fees. TMSOD will not deal with complaints & gossip circulated among parents and dancers. If there is something that you are unhappy with, please send us an email or call the studio. We believe that any problem can be resolved with open communication, honesty and compromise. The complaints and gossip greatly affect the dancers, their confidence, and their ability to grow to their full potential. We care deeply about each and every dancer and their family and are very excited about the new season. TMSOD hopes that our returning & new company members will accept the challenge and commit to a year of hard work, dedication and perseverance.
