Criteria A) Beginner Couples. Entry Criteria: Minimum standard Level 2 CD and Level 2 FM. No maximum standard. No age restrictions. Beginner Pattern Dance: Canasta Tango (3 seq) and Dutch Waltz (3 seq) Beginner Free Dance 1. Free Dance. Duration 1.30 mins +/- 5 secs 2. Required Elements; 3. Levels explanation i. 1 step sequence of any type in dance hold. ii. 1 set of synchronised twizzles ( 1 clockwise, 1 anti-clockwise, min 3 steps in between each twizzle) iii. 1 dance lift. Lift not to exceed 6 seconds OR 1 pose- the pose may be the same or different for each partner and may be done in or out of hold, the pose position(s) must be attained for a minimum of 3 seconds. iv. A Dance Spin is not included in the list of Required Elements for the Beginner Couples Free Dance. Nevertheless, a spinning movement skated by the couple together in any hold around common axis on one foot (or two feet) with any number of rotations is permitted. A couple may choose to use this movement as part of their Choreography. The Technical Panel will ignore these movements and the Judges will not consider these movements as one of the permitted stops. For Beginner Couples Free Dance, in all Required Elements, only features up to Level 2 will be counted. Any additional features will not count for Level requirements and will be ignored by the Technical Panel. Poses will have the same SOV values as lifts. 4. B) Basic Novice Couples 1. Criteria as per ISU communication 1886. 2. Entry Criteria: Minimum Level 4 CD and level 4 FM. No maximum standard or age restrictions Basic Novice Pattern Dance: # 1 Fourteen Step (4 seq.) and #4 European Waltz (1½ circuits single lobe.). Basic Novice Free Dance; Duration 2.30 minutes +/- 10 secs Rule 710 shall apply (including that the music may be vocal,. A Well Balanced Free Dance program must contain: a) Dance Lifts: not more than one (1) Short Lift b) One (1) Straight Line Step Sequence (Midline or Diagonal) in Hold or Curved Step Sequence (Circular or Serpentine) in Hold The restrictions listed in ISU Communication 1857 and subsequent updates of this ISU Communication apply. c) One (1) Set of Synchronized Twizzles The Dance Spin is not included in the list of Required Elements for the Basic Novice Free Dance. C) Advanced Novice 1) Criteria as per ISU Communication 1886 2) Entry Criteria. Minimum Level 6 CD, FD and level 6 FM. No maximum standard or age restriction Advanced Novice Pattern Dance #4 European Waltz (1½ circuits single lobe.) and # 20 Tango (2 seq.) Advanced Novice Free Dance.. Duration 3 minutes +/- 10 secs. Rule 710 shall apply (including that the music may be vocal). A Well Balanced Free Dance program must contain, a) Not more than two (2) different Types of Short Lifts b) One (1) Spin, but not more Note: A Combination Spin is not permitted. c) One (1) Straight Line Step Sequence (Midline or Diagonal) in Hold or Curved Step Sequence (Circular or Serpentine) in Hold The restrictions listed in ISU Communication 1857 and subsequent updates of this ISU Communication apply. d) One (1) Set of Synchronized Twizzles 5) Levels explanation. Be a NISA member. Be a British Citizen or Resident in UK continuously for a minimum of 1 year prior to closing date Be an Eligible or Retained Eligible skater who has completed all appropriate paperwork Hold required standard for event Skaters in all events should refer to ISU Special Regulations and Technical Rules, Singles and Pair Skating and Ice Dance 2014 (downloadable from the ISU website www.isu.org ) and all pertinent ISU Communications. DEFINITION OF POSE POSE A position or stance held for a minimum of 3 seconds (except attitude with change of edge). Types of pose are as follows: ATTITUDE A position or stance on 1 leg during which the skater moves either forwards, backwards or on a curve with the supporting leg extended or slightly bent and the free leg either Raised higher than the level of the hip and In front, behind or on the side and Bent or extended and Free or held (by knee or blade) and ie Biellmann SPIRAL Type of attitude where the free leg is raised behind, above horizontal level, without assistance from a hand or an arm while in the same position throughout its duration. CROUCHING POSE A movement on 2 feet during which a skater moves on the ice with both legs bent more than 90 INA BAUER A movement on 2 feet during which a skater moves on the ice with 1 foot on a forward edge and the other on the same backward edge, on different but parallel curves. LUNGE/DRAG A movement during which the skater moves on the ice with the skating knee bent more than 90 with the other leg extended behind and touching the ice. TEA POT/SHOOT THE DUCK A movement on 1 foot where the skater moves on the ice with the skating knee bent to 90 and the thigh parallel to the ice, with the other leg extending forwards either parallel to the ice or pulled towards the core with the head and body bent to meet the knee. SPREAD EAGLE A movement on 2 feet on an edge during which a skater moves on the ice with 1 foot on a forward edge and the other on the same backward edge, on the same curve. COMBINATION POSE - A position or stance composing of 2 different types of poses combined and each held for a minimum of 3 seconds. A maximum of 1 linking step is allowed between the 2 types of poses. Any coach who has not yet attended the Coaches Conference may not now be accredited. Any IJS seminar prior to 2012 has now expired. A Field Moves seminar also must have been completed prior to the date of the competition This may have been completed prior to attendance of the Coaches Conference. All competitors must be PAID UP members of the National Ice Skating Association. 2. All competitors must be eligible as defined by NISA. 3. All competitions will be held in accordance with the regulations and bylaws of NISA. 4. Test standards relate to the current NISA dance test schedules. Standards are as at the closing date for the competition. 5. The organising committee reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving a reason, and to alter or cancel any part of the competition deemed necessary. Entries will be limited by number should more entries be received than time will permit, and priority will be given to those entries received earliest. A reserve list will be held for over-subscribed classes. 6. Applications must be received by the closing date Monday 9 th February, 2015 7. Entry fee 43 per segment (i.e. per competition entered) 8. Written applications only will be accepted. 9. Photocopies of entry forms will be accepted. 10. Only competitors may cancel their entry. We regret that in no circumstances can entry fees be refunded after the closing date. Page 8
11. We regret that only music on CD (with 1 track recorded on it) can be accepted. Music should be clearly marked with the competitor s name and competition entered, and handed in to reception on arrival. It is recommended that all skaters keep a second copy of music with them in case of non-playing or poor quality sound, for which the organizing committee is unable to accept responsibility. Compulsory Dance music will be provided by the organizing committee. 12. Please provide an e-mail address; this will be used to acknowledge receipt of entry, and to send out all competition information. Information will also be provided on the club website www.leevalleylondonskating.co.uk All passes will be issued on the day of the event. PLEASE DO NOT SEND ENTRIES BY REGISTERED DELIVERY. 13. The personal details supplied by competitors on the application form will be held on computer files and used for the purposes of organizing timetables, running the competitions, calculation of results from marks given by the judges, etc. 14. Photography We regret we are unable to allow photography at the competition, but there will be an official photographer at the event. In addition to the competition no photography is allowed within the Ice Centre. In particular anyone taking photographs in the toilets or changing area may be requested to leave the Ice Centre. Photographs taken at the event may be used on the website or for publicity, if you do not wish your photograph to be use please contact rio_sully16@live.co.uk 15. The draw for the dances and for the skating order will be announced on the website.
