PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION February 2016 ARRIVING For those traveling late at night, please see the notes at the end. LAX TO CLAREMONT Exit the baggage claim area. Look for the FlyAway bus stop on the island in front of the terminal. The sign is green. Go to the bus stop and wait for the FlyAway bus that goes to Union Station. FlyAway bus to Union Station: $9 Get on the bus and pay the bus driver with a credit or debit card. (If you do not have a credit or debit card, take the route using the Green Line below.) Get off the bus at the destination. Walk from the bus to the entrance of Union Station. Enter Union Station and walk straight back to the tracks. Go to a Metrolink ticket vending machine. Buy a ticket from Union Station to Claremont (San Bernardino Line). Metrolink to Claremont: Full Fare: $9.25 Senior Fare: $4.50

If you would like to use a TAP card in Claremont for local bus service, especially those staying at Knights Inn or Claremont Lodge who are planning on making a transfer, go to the ticket vending machines at the Metro Gold Line or near the entrance from the Plaza. Buy a TAP card and add some stored value. TAP card: $1 Minimum stored value: $5 Look at the overhead screens in the tunnel below the tracks for a train going to Claremont. Note the time and the track number for the train. When it is time, get on the train. Keep the ticket handy in case the conductor asks to see it. Pay attention to the announcements and the station stops: Cal State LA El Monte Baldwin Park Covina Pomona (North) Claremont Get off at Claremont. Walk north out of the station. Walk to First Street. Cross First Street at Harvard. Turn left and walk to the bus stop.

DoubleTree Take Foothill 187 (Pasadena): Show Metrolink ticket to bus driver The bus goes north on Indian Hill Boulevard. It turns left at Foothill Boulevard. Ring the bell before the bus makes the turn. Get off the bus at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Indian Hill Boulevard. Walk west past the Old School Mall. The hotel is on the right. Hotel Casa 425 Continue walking on First Street, past the bus stop. Cross Indian Hill Boulevard. The hotel is on First Street in the next block. Knights Inn Take Foothill 480 (West Covina): Show Metrolink ticket to bus driver The bus goes south on Indian Hill Boulevard. Get off at San Jose Avenue, the stop before the freeway. Walk south past the restaurant. Turn right into the driveway that runs between the restaurant and the gas station. Knights Inn is behind the gas station. Claremont Lodge Take Foothill 480 (West Covina): Show Metrolink ticket to bus driver The bus goes south on Indian Hill Boulevard. Get off at San Jose Avenue, the stop before the freeway. Walk north to San Jose Avenue. Cross Indian Hill Boulevard. Walk south on the east side of Indian Hill Boulevard. Turn into the parking lot. Claremont Lodge is at the back of the parking lot.

LAX TO CLAREMONT (via Green Line) Exit the baggage claim area. Look for the LAX Shuttle bus stop on the island in front of the terminal. The sign is blue. Take Bus G (Green Line). The bus is free. The bus will leave you at Aviation Station. Walk away from the bus toward the opposite side of the station, where the ticket vending machines are located. Buy a TAP card and 1-Way Base Fare, or a 1-RIde Base Fare if a senior: TAP card: $1.00 1-Way Base Fare Regular: $1.75 1-Ride Base Fare Senior: $0.75 1-Ride Base Fare Senior: $0.35 (weekdays 9am-3pm and 7pm-5am; weekends; holidays) Keep the TAP card: it can be reused. Tap the card on a turnstile leading to the elevator or stairs. Go up to the platform. Take the eastbound train - Green Line (Norwalk): Hawthorne/Lennox Crenshaw Vermont/Athens Harbor Freeway Get off at Harbor Freeway Station. The station is at the intersection of two freeways. The next bus connection is at the lowest level. Walk to the east elevator. Go down to 1. If you take the other elevator or the stairs, follow the signs to the Silver Line. Take the northbound Silver Line bus (El Monte), either Metro 910 or 950:

Regular Fare: Tap the TAP card on the fare box Pay the freeway premium charge: $0.75 Senior Fare: $1.35 $0.95 (weekdays 9am-3pm and 7pm-5am; weekends; holidays) Get off the bus at Union Station (El Monte Busway). All Hotels Walk north one block along Alameda Street until arriving at the front of Union Station. Enter Union Station and walk back to the tracks. Buy a Metrolink ticket to Claremont. as described above. Knights Inn Claremont Lodge If prefer to continue traveling by bus: Walk east of the Metro bus stop to the Foothill bus stop. Take Foothill Silver Streak. Ask for a transfer to another Foothill bus. Adult Regular: $2.45 + $0.50 transfer The transfer is added to the TAP card. Follow the directions given by the bus driver. Get off at the Pomona Transit Center. Go to the bus stop for Foothill 480, near the center, across from the Pomona Station Get on Foothill 480 (Montclair): Tap the card to use the transfer Adult Regular (without a TAP card): $1.25 Get off at Indian Hill Boulevard and San Jose Avenue, the stop after the freeway.

Knights Inn: Cross Indian Hill Boulevard at San Jose Avenue and walk south along Indian Hill Boulevard. Turn right between the restaurant and the gas station. Knights Inn is behind the gas station. Claremont Lodge: Walk south along Indian Hill Boulevard. Turn left into the parking lot. Claremont Lodge is at the back of the parking lot.

Additional Information for Late-Night Travelers FlyAway bus: runs every 20 or 30 minutes during the day and evening and once an hour between 1 am and 5 am. accepts credit card only; however, a ticket can be bought with cash at Metrolink ticket vending machines in Union Station. Union Station: closed between 1 am and 4 am; however, passengers waiting for connections will be directed to lounge areas to wait in the station.

24-hour Bus Service to Montclair (see next page): Foothill Silver Streak bus can be picked up south of Union Station on the El Monte Busway and goes to the Monclair Transcenter at the end of the line. From there, several buses run to Claremont Transit Center, including Foothill 187 to the DoubleTree and Foothill 480 to Knights Inn and Claremont Lodge. However, these buses do not start running until 5 am on the weekends or 4 am weekdays. The Monclair Transcenter has outdoor seating, porta potties, and overhead shelter for protection in case of rain or sun. Late at night, the only bus running is Silver Streak and it runs once an hour.

Bus Service from Union Station to Claremont via Montclair: Walk from the front of Union Station to Alameda Street. Turn left and walk south on Alameda to the El Monte Busway. Cross to the island and walk to the furthest bus stop, the one for Foothill buses. Get on Foothill Silver Streak (Montclair). Pay the fare and buy a transfer. Fare: $2.45 Transfer: $0.50 Travel to the end of the line, Montclair Transcenter. For the DoubleTree: Take Foothill 187 (Pasadena). Give the driver the transfer. Get off at Foothill Boulevard and Indian Hill Boulevard. Walk west past the Old School House Mall. The hotel is on the right. For Knights Inn or Claremont Lodge: Take Foothill 480 (West Covina) Give the driver the transfer. Get off at Indian Hill Boulevard and San Jose Avenue.

Knights Inn: Walk south on Indian Hill Boulevard, past the cafe. Knights Inn is behind the gas station. Claremont Lodge: Cross Indian Hill Boulevard at San Jose Avenue. Walk south along Indian Hill Boulevard. Turn into the parking lot. Claremont Lodge is at the back. For Hotel Casa 425: Take either bus. Give the driver the transfer. Get off at First Street and Harvard. Walk west on First Street. Cross Indian Hill Boulevard and continue walking. The hotel is in the next block on the right.
