Our 2009 hunting reservations were hugely affected by the diffi cult economic climate. We cannot excite you by writing about the bulk, but can certainly make you wish you were here by sharing the events of the couple of great trophy hunts we did this year. To those hunters who decided to revive their souls, by enjoying a great Dinaka hunt this year: Thank you!! During times like this, competition on the supply side is never-ending and we appreciate that you selected Dinaka! We will never cut on the quality you came to expect from Dinaka, merely to attract quantity. Even though the cutting of costs will enlarge our profi ts, we value your commitment too much to provide you with an average product. We will always strive to give you great value for money, but even more importantly to allow you making the best of your precious vacation time. The low volume of hunt bookings for 2009 enables the trophy quality to restore itself. At Dinaka Game Reserve we have different income generating activities and we were especially pleased that the sale of quality breeding material exceeded its peak during this year. We did especially well on the sale of rare animals, like Zambian Sable, disease free Buffalo, Golden Gnu, Tsessebe and then a superior Matetsi Sable bull. With more available time slots, we were able to accommodate more local hunters who participate in cull hunts. These hunters play an important role as they clean the herds from genetically inferior males. Being a high-end destination, it is Sable bull Kwanare; Black Impala often fi nancially diffi cult for the average local sports hunter, to hunt at Dinaka. Our local clientele therefore consist of families who will pay a premium for quality time, as well as companies entertaining their superior business contacts. FAQ s Frequently Asked Questions We have a special section on our website covering FAQ s to assist with the practical matters of planning a trip. However, when prospective clients do comparative shopping, they often ask: What differentiate you from your competition? Conservation orientated hunting-take-off-limits of existing self sustained herds. Unsurpassed game viewing variety and numbers from your bedroom window, on foot or vehicle. Superior family destination with a variety of activities. Lodge exclusivity only one party in camp at a time. Guests are personally attended to by the owners of the hunting outfi t, who are also the owners of the reserve. The majority of staff working at Dinaka has been here for generations, ensuring commitment to the well being of every client. You can therefore rely upon; True representation, Continuous quality trophies, Utilization of top notch equipment and vehicles, Access to immediate back up service and equipment, Energetic and highly skilled home based staff. At Dinaka, we are big enough to accommodate you, yet small enough to appreciate you! Mark and Dianna Metzger, who are our most frequent foreign visitors, went to Namibia prior to visiting us at Dinaka. We joined our friends for their last couple of days at Tambuti Wilderness where Jaco and Dinique also hunted a gemsbok each and some birds. At Dinaka, Mark participated in some behind the scenes work, like game capturing and culling. The opportunity to hunt a serval presented itself and after many years of looking for one, Mark fi nally has that rare cat for his magnifi cent trophy room. This was the fi rst serval hunted at Dinaka as their numbers increased satisfactory during the last 10 years. Thank you for always looking for ways to include us and Dinaka in your travel plans. The Horse Back Riding venture is also constantly growing and despite the decline in general tourism, this venture managed to hold its own. We will once again donate a Dinaka Horseback Adventure, by Saddle Bag Safari s, to SCI which will be auctioned at the convention in Reno. Experience Dinaka on Horse Back is an experience not to be missed by the avid equestrian. The standard trips are group based, but this donation will be your annual opportunity to do custom made trip where you can combine the hunting with horse riding. 5-night African horseback adventure for 4 people Enjoy the thrill of riding next to rhino and giraffe or galloping with wildebeest on well-loved and responsive horses, all this and more on the 20,000-acre Dinaka Game Reserve. This 5-night trip for four is all-inclusive of professionally guided riding activities, accommodations at the Dinaka Lodge in comfortable suites with a full, private bath, meals and beverages. This will be an exclusive, custom-made trip. Trip needs to be taken before April 2011, during available dates. Riding ability of the least experienced rider will determine the pace. Not included are transfers from/to Johannesburg airport. Additional riders of your own party, up to a total of four, can be accommodated at $2,050 per person. Hunting and other activities may also be added per donor s current price list. This donation is valued at $9000. Generally the riding holidays are booked as a group activity and therefore we cannot simultaneously do hunting. We were in the fortunate position to allow hunters of 2 of the riding groups to participate in hunting activities. Eric Troppmann, Jeff Harrison and Mike Huntt needed a break from the horses and enquired about the possibility to hunt for a day or two. While Eric and Jeff walked with Johannes, Mike and Johan set out in another direction. After a few hours in the bush and some good stalks, Mike took a beauty of an impala. Eric tested the tracking skills of Johannes, but ended with two great impala. Jeff showed the young guys how to do it when he took an old ram also. It was a wonderful, unplanned hunt and much was accomplished while having a lot of fun. After practicing she went out and hunted a beautiful, cull impala. Cheryl Rowley Impala 19 2/8 Cheryl Rowley: Impala 3

Tom and Gloria Bastien were referred to us by Danny Nasca. They visited us for 10 days with friends Gary and Leanna Mendenhall. Tom s desire to hunt a leopard increased as various leopard baits and natural kills incurred during his hunt. Unfortunately we only had one leopard license, which was already assigned to the next hunter. Both Tom and Gary took some great trophies, while Gloria and Leanna enjoyed the leisure hours with game viewing and other relaxing activities. Leanna also joined Gary on some of the hunts. It is always great making new friends at Dinaka and we anxiously await your return. Old friends and clients Jim Holian and Chuck Hoffmann visited us for 14 days as Jim booked a leopard hunt. In all the years we never had as much leopard activity as we had during this past season. Johannes guided Jim on his leopard hunt and because of all the activity they selected a blind where a huge male would have most likely hit. All worked according to plan and Jim shot a magnifi cent 7 4 leopard on his fi rst evening out. This allowed Jim with ample hunting time to work on some hard to hunt trophies. Chuck had a short list of specifi c animals to hunt and successfully completed it. Jim and Chuck hunted some great trophies and as they had some spare time, opted to visit Kruger National Park for 4 nights. With some more time to kill, they hunted some birds. It was great to have you back. All licenses are also allocated to a specifi c hunter and an outfi tter cannot utilize the license of an unsuccessful client towards another client. Prior to 1997 we booked leopard hunts on any number of days and our success rate was a mere 42%. Since 1997 we only book a leopard hunt for 14 days or longer and the success rate increased to 76%. We will again exhibit at the following conventions in America and hope to see you at our booth: Dallas Safari Club at the Dallas Convention Centre from 7-10 January 2010, Booth # 1645. Safari Club International in Reno from 20-23 January 2010, Booth #1274 & 1276. We have previously reported on the Heuningfontein Primary School (Grades 0 8) which is located on Dinaka. We had a fulltime battle with the government to keep this school open as they planned on centralizing all the small farm schools. This was a great idea on paper with promises of transport. However, from experience we know that transport promises does not realize or that they send vehicles which is in questionable state endangering the lives of the pupils. Not to mention inadequate classroom space and sanitation in the consolidated schools. Should transport not realize after the school moved it meant that kids will have to walk 15 miles to school (twice a day). The uncertainty resulted in many parents looking for alternatives and the numbers reduced from about 50 kids to currently 20. Most children are from neighbouring properties, but we still try and support a good primary education in a safe environment. Many of our clients got involved and provided the kids with story books, backpacks, fi lled pencil cases, shirts, shoes and also medical supplies and ceiling fans for classrooms. This year Tom and Sue Vaughn donated money which we utilized to buy each kid a tracksuit, which they wear as winter school clothes. These donated items are often the only new item of clothing for some of the kids which they receive in their lives. There is a worldwide need for support and we thank you for selecting this cause to make a difference in these kids lives. If any of you would like to make a contribution, be assured that every cent goes to the benefi t of the children and the school. 6
