St. Joseph Catholic School Weekly Newsletter October 21, 2018 From the Principal s Desk MISSION STATEMENT Rooted in Catholic faith, and committed to academic excellence, St. Joseph Catholic School develops personal responsibility, character, service, and leadership St. Joseph Carnival 17 Days and Counting Our Carnival is rapidly approaching. The volunteer sign ups are now posted online, and many of our families have started signing up to help with this major fundraiser for our school. This is a great opportunity to complete many of your volunteer hours for this year! Sign up at http://bit.ly/sjseagle or by going to our school website and choosing the Volunteer link. IMPORTANT: Carnival T-Shirt orders are due by MONDAY, OCTOBER 22. No late orders can be accepted. Pre-Sale Tickets are available This is the most economical option for attending the carnival, and our school gets the largest percentage of sale from these tickets. Pre-Sale prices cannot be offered once the Carnival arrives. Yard Signs and Discount Tickets are in the school office - Please assist us in getting these out in the community Volunteer hours are offered for those assisting in putting up signs around our town or delivering discount tickets to businesses. Glow bands will be given to students when pre-sale tickets are purchased. Glow bands may be worn when received. Carnival t-shirts may be worn to school on the Thursday of Carnival week and on Spirit Days the remainder fo the school year.

St. Joseph Varsity Volleyball Team First Place in Tournament League Congratulations to our Varsity Volleyball Team. Last week they finished their end-of-season Florida Suncoast League tournament in first place. This team has grown so much this year and truly has defined the word team as they worked together and supported one another! Thank you to our coaches and parents for all of their support throughout the season. Team members wore their league championship shirts on Friday. The back of the shirt shows the logos from the private and charter schools of the Florida Suncoast League! We are so proud of our Eagles!

Spunkmeyer Orders Will Be Delivered on Wednesday Spunkmeyer orders will be delivered to the Parish Center at 1:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon. Volunteers are needed to sort the items and prepare them for pick up. Pick up will begin at 2:30 pm from the Parish Center. Many volunteers are needed for this to go smoothly. Please sign up if you are available to offer assistance: http://bit.ly/sjcscookies or by going to our school website and choosing the Volunteer link. Don t forget to make plans to pick up your orders on Wednesday between 2:30 6:00 pm. Items are frozen, so they will need to be delivered right away. Thank you for your help and support. 2018 Halloween Bash The St. Joseph Halloween Bash will be held on Friday, October 26th from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. Get your costume ready and join us for some Halloween fun, including games, face painting and a mad scientist experience. Tickets can be purchased in the school office for $5/person or $20/family or at the event for $6/person or $24/family. Volunteers are needed to help set-up/cleanup, work the games and donate items for the event. View our Sign Up at http://bit.ly/sjcsbash to volunteer. (Or visit our school web page and choose the volunteer link) Additional details are provided on the attached flyer. Please pick up students in the car line and park in the Parish Center parking lot. Enter by the main Parish Center doors for the Halloween Bash. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Students may change into costumes in the Parish Center restrooms. For the safety of our children, no adult or older student costumes should completely cover the face and hide the person s identity. All money from this event supports our Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund.

Safe Environment Training A Safe Environment Class is now available for sign up on the Diocesan website at: https://dioceseofvenice.org/offices/programs/safeenvironment/ choose Training Schedule to register online. You must be registered prior to the class. This class is scheduled for Tuesday, December 4th at 8:15 am in Mrs. Smith s classroom. (Don t worry, the students will be another class during that time.) This is class is required of all parents who wish to volunteer for class parties, field trips, and class activities. With the holiday season fast approaching, please make sure you have completed this class. Parents may not bring younger children with them during the class. Little Pro Soccer Begins on Monday, October 22 nd from 3:30 4:30 pm 1. Students must have preregistered to attend. 2. Students may wear gym shorts and Little Pro shirt to school each Monday (The first week they are to wear their gym shirts) 3. Little Pro teams will be given their shirts this Monday 4. Students will meet in front of Mrs. Hernandez s room following car line dismissal. 5. Coaches will meet at Mrs. Hernandez s room to pick up their teams and walk them to the practice area. 6. Parents will pick up their children at 4:30 pm following practice. Park in the north parking lot and bring your GREEN tag with you so the coach can release your child. Children will be dismissed at the gate near the church entrance. 7. Any students not picked up at 4:30 pm will go to Aftercare We are looking forward to a great season!

If you have friends who may not be carnival people, invite them to attend the Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday, November 10th in the Parish Center. Ticket includes spaghetti, bread, salad & non-alcoholic drink. Dessert & wine will be available at an additional cost. Dine in or Take out, 5-7pm this is hosted by the 7 th & 8 th grade classes & families and sponsored by Fratello s Chicago Pizzeria Uncle Nick s Deli. Come and enjoy the weekend with your Saint Joseph families! We are committed to raising money to support the school, as well as creating a memorable event for our children! Furthermore, this is a great way to partner the school with our church and our community! FREE Glow Bracelets! Every carnival wristband sold before the carnival will come with a free customized 2018 carnival glow bracelet! We have less bracelets than last year so get yours early. (Bracelets available to school families FIRST). Stop by and see the awesome new bracelet in the school office. Children can wear the bracelets to school as soon as they get them.
