F U N Lil Fusion Dance Company 2 Our Mission Lil Fusion Dancers are trained in various styles to help develop the well-rounded dancer! Our focus is technique, style, strength and performance as we provide quality dance training to these young dancers. We help each child develop their dancing skills while focusing on the individual, growing every dancer s self-esteem, confidence and passion for life. We strive to offer frequent and abundant opportunities that will enhance their dance knowledge and training. The Fusion Faculty will work mentors to dancers and nurture them a positive learning environment. Curriculum & Classes Lil Fusion is all about offering great training and performing opportunities to young dancers while keeping it fun and stress free! We believe that dancers at this age should have the opportunity to perform and enjoy all aspects of the FDC program, while keeping a low-key schedule that works for children of this age. Dancers on Lil Fusion are required to follow the program and curriculum specifically designed for their progression, training and development. One weekly class is 1 ½ hours long, and includes Jazz and Hip Hop training. Dancers focus on terminology, technique and a Jazz routine that they perform locally all year. Dancers may also take any additional classes that fit into their schedule, including ballet and tap. Lil Fusion dancers also have the opportunity to attend all Dance Conventions that FDC travels to, but it is not required. See more about classes below!
Helpful Information Ages: Lil Fusion is designed for ages 5-7, or Kindergarten through 1 st grade. Try out Lil Fusion: There is no audition for Lil Fusion. Instead, we are offering 4 weeks of classes for dancers to try it out! All interested dancers are can attend classes the first two weeks of classes! Classes are Friday s 3:30-5:00 PM. Dancers will stretch, warm-up, practice skills across the floor, and learn new techniques! Please wear jazz dance attire and bring both jazz and tap shoes. If your dancer does not yet own jazz or tap shoes no problem! If you choose to enroll in the Lil Hip Hop program, there will be a chance to order all shoes on the fourth week of classes. Performances and Competitions: Lil Fusion will perform locally throughout the year! They will learn choreography for a jazz dance and that will be their performance piece. August 21 Fall Classes begin 4 weeks of Trial Class! Nov. 11-13 24Seven Dance Convention, Reno (optional for Lil Fusion dancers) De 17 Holiday Review Performances (Date TBA) Jan-April Community Performances and Showcases Optional Conventions / Competitions (Dates TBA) June 14-16 HYPErbole 2018, HDS Annual Dance Recital Lil Fusion dancers are also asked to perform at local events such as Chico State Basketball games, community celebrations like Downtown Christmas Preview, the Fairgrounds, parades, Thursday Night Markets, etc. Additional performances are announced as dates are confirmed. Fall Parent Meetings (preparation and organization): During each semester, we set up meetings with the parents and teachers so that we can discuss upcoming events, progress of dancers, and answer any questions you may have. Meetings will be scheduled and dates will be announced after the first few weeks of trial classes. 3
Costumes: Lil Fusion dancers will have a costume for their performance dance. Dancers will be fitted in early September to assure correct fittings. All costumes are ordered through HYPE Dance Studio. Costume payments will be due at time of order, approximately early October. Costume prices vary and may range from $35.00 $65.00 each. Shoes: Dancers will need black jazz shoes and hip hop sneakers. A specific shoe requirements form will be given out at the first parent meeting and ordered then. Shoes are fitted and ordered through HYPE Dance Studio. Warm-Ups: Lil Fusion members are required to have the warm-up gear that matches the entire FDC company. This makes for uniformity when doing company performances locally. Warm-ups includes a Fusion tank top and company jacket. The approximate price of these items is $100.00 and will last the entire year. There are also optional items for dancers and parents to purchase as well to wear to performances and around town! More detailed information and order forms will be given out at the first parent meeting. 4
Lil Fusion Faculty HYPE Dance Studio All of the instructors at HYPE Dance Studio take much pride in giving our students the best instruction possible. We are thrilled to start working with Lil Fusion and help develop them as young dancers! Sarah Blakley: Creative Director of Fusion Dance Company, Owner of HYPE Dance Studio. Sarah will be overseeing the program choreography, choosing music and costumes, guiding Lil Fusion dancers and corresponding with all Fusion Families. Hayley Hatfield: Studio Manager, Jazz and Tap instructor for Fusion. Hayley will be overseeing the weekly classes and helping them at all performances locally. Meghan Gibson: Jazz and Hip Hop instructor for Lil Fusion! She ll be training them weekly and helping them at all performances locally. Weekly classes ensure their training. Local and HYPE s own productions offer some valuable stage time that is necessary in their growth as young dancers. These events are the commitment we ask each dancer in Lil Fusion to make. We also understand that every dancer may not be able to attend every local performance scheduled. Dancers will also be invited to attend some of the professional dance conventions our older dancers travel to during the season, which are also optional. Dancers in Lil Fusion are committing to a season of weekly training and the performances! And of course a season of FUN! Our season runs August 2017 through June 2018. Estimated Expenses: (approx.) Monthly Tuition: $65.00 monthly (based on 1.5 hours per week) Warm-ups approx. $100.00 Costumes: $35.00 - $65.00 each. Optional Conventions: Convention Classes: $95-$125 (ages 5-7 Half days of classes). If you choose to stay at the host hotel, room charges are additional to this fee.
