PREVIOUS ACTIVITIES Actions in 2015/16 CPM-10 (2015) proposal by Finland for IYPH was supported by the CPM 39th (June 2015) FAO Conference welcomed IYPH 2020 proposal January 2016 Finland requested FAO to pursue IYPH 2020 March 2016 the Director-General of FAO informs Finland that IYPH is on the agenda of COAG 2016 CPM-11 adopts defining scope and objectives for IYPH and creates steering committee

CONCEPT OF THE IYPH 2020 Main Objective of the IYPH 2020 "The International Year of Plant Health will raise awareness of the importance and impacts of plant health in addressing issues of global importance, including hunger, poverty, threats to the environment and economic development"

CONCEPT OF THE IYPH 2020 (3) Specific Objectives for the IYPH 2020 1.Raising the awareness of the public and political decision makers at the global, regional and national levels about plant health 2.Promoting a strengthening of national, regional and global plant health efforts and their resources in light of increasing trade and new pest risks caused through climate change. 3.Educating the public and increasing its knowledge about plant health.

CONCEPT OF THE IYPH 2020 (4) Specific Objectives for the IYPH 2020 4.Enhancing dialogue and stakeholder involvement in plant health 5.Increasing information about the state of plant protection in the world 6.Facilitating the establishment of plant health partnerships on national, regional and global levels
