You will also have the opportunity to purchase your child s framed artwork as this serves as the exclusive fundraiser for our Art Department. Each student will have one piece of artwork available to purchase. We are in need of a few volunteers for set-up and sales. If you can help, please signup on the Volunteer tab of the PTO website: http://ssespto.ch2v.com/content.asp?pageid=2. It is sure to be an amazing night! We hope to see you there!

UPCOMING EVENTS SUNSET S SCHOOL PLAY Sunset Elementary School will present a spring play this year, Disney s Alice in Wonderland JR.! Performances will be Thursday, April 14 th at 6:00 pm, and a Friday school performance on April 15 th. The production is a collaboration between 4 th and 5 th grade students and is funded by the PTO. Disney s Alice in Wonderland JR. is open to all students in 4 th and 5th grade! Information packets are available in the front office. Auditions will be held NEXT WEEK - February 29- March 4 and the cast list will be posted on March 5th. Any questions? We need volunteers to help including: o setting up the Rotunda on Friday, March 11th with decorations, http://ssespto.ch2v.com/content.asp?pageid=2 o hosting a display table during school hours on Thursday, March 17th, o bringing in a country specific dish to share with all of our International Week Volunteers on Thursday, March 17th, and o performing in the assembly on Friday, March 18 th. This is a fun and informative week where we get to celebrate all that we are here at Sunset Elementary. We do hope you will join us! Any questions? A HUGE Thanks to our food sponsors Burger Republic (donating lunch) and Martin s BBQ Joint (donating dinner) for their amazing generosity! Cost is $150/player or $600/foursome. UPCOMING EVENTS KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION March 29 March 31 It s time to start registering our Kindergarten class of 2016-17! Registration at Sunset Elementary will be on the following dates: March 29 th 4 6:30 p.m. March 30 th 9 a.m. noon March 31 st 9 a.m. noon Kindergarten Sneak-A-Peak will be held on April 15 th from 9 10 a.m. (Parents and rising Kindergarten students are welcome!) ENCORE SUMMER CAMP The 2016 Encore Summer Enrichment Camp will be held at Sunset Elementary School during the weeks of: June 6-10 & July 11-15 Due to this change in location, the registration date has been rescheduled to Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Sunset Elementary from 8am-noon. Brochures were sent home with students at the end of last week. Extra packets can be found in the front office or on the SSES PTO website. Any questions? Please e-mail encore.nes.sses@gmail.com PUBLIX PARTNERS ONGOING SUNSET SUPPORT Through Publix Partners, all purchases at Publix help earn money for our school. You just need to scan our school s Publix Partners card before the sale is totaled. It s that easy!! Our school earns $250 for each $37,500 in spending (including gift card purchases). Currently we are only on track to earn $1,800 in funds this year, but we could be raising closer to $12,000 if everyone would scan their cards! Let s Do The Math!!! With about 500 families at Sunset Elementary and an average of $300/month spent on groceries, our Sunset Elementary community spends ~ $180,000/month at Publix! If you don t have a Publix Partners card, please get one from the front office or contact Tricia Ellis at patricia.j.ellis@earthlink.net to have one sent home to you via your student. If you forget your card, cashiers maintain our card at the registers at the Concord Village and McKay s Mill Village Center locations just make sure they use Sunset Elementary s! Please remember to scan the Publix Partners card before your bill is totaled. It s that easy to raise funds for our school!! SCHOOL STORE Sunset s School Store is open on Thursday mornings from 8:15-8:35 a.m. We are seeking volunteers to help during the school year on Thursday mornings. AROUND SCHOOL NURSE S CORNER Dear Parents, The sick season is upon us. Just recently, we started picking up on a few nasty illnesses as follows: The flu- we are just starting to see the actual flu in our community per several Pediatricians in our area. I haven t heard anyone confirmed at school yet, but it s coming. Please remember to check your child s temperature prior to sending them to school if they are not feeling well. The common cold Spring allergies are starting due to some of our warmer weather. Stomach virus Strep Throat- Please take your child to the doctor if they have a sore throat for more than two days and/or are running a fever or have a rash with a sore throat. Sinus Infections- Please take your child to the doctor if you notice the mucous having a deep yellow or greenish color, they have pain, and/or fever. Thanks for helping me keep everyone safe and healthy! Nurse Robin SUNSET ARTISTS Congratulations to our many Sunset students who will have art on display at the Frist Center and Nolensville Library! The Williamson County Library Foundation recently held an art contest and selected artwork by John Mason, Sunset Elementary 4 th grader. His art will be on display for a full year at the Nolensville library. Two students from each grade at Sunset Elementary were selected to participate in this year s Williamson County Art Show at the Frist Center for Visual Arts. The art opening will be this weekend on Saturday, February 27 th. Kudos to the following students selected: Kindergarten Quinn Gallagher & Ethan Hoffman 1 st Grade Naomi Aull & Joanna Qi 2 nd Grade Beau Metzger & Susannah Tatalovich 3 rd Grade Layla Akin & Ashley Grace Vasquez 4 th Grade Dakota Pattee & Hannah Poston 5 th Grade Molly Dasal & Holly Hoagland ACCOLADES CHESS CHAMPION Sunset is excited to share that Hemi Rambha has again achieved great Chess success! He won the 2016 Nashville City Championship and went on to become the Tennessee State Champion in Chess for 2016! In addition, Hemi won 7 th place among 4 th graders in the national competition held in Florida in December 2015. Congratulations Hemi on your accomplishments, and thank you for representing Sunset!

EXTRACURRICULARS SMS CHEERLEADING SMS DANCE TEAM The Sunset Middle Dance Team will hold tryouts on April 6 th and 7 th from 4 5:30 p.m. Information packets can be picked up in the Sunset Elementary or Middle School front office.
