8 U A Star Skills Competitions Louisiana Youth Baseball will conduct a skills competition for each age group during the Urban All Star (U A Star) Weekend. Every member of a team must compete in at least one competition. The Urban All Star Weekend is for the entire league. Each manager will need to fill out the Skills Competition Roster designating which players will compete in each competition. Each player on the team will compete in at least one event with 6 players in the Turn Two Competition, 4 players in the Around The Horn Competition, 1 player in the Home Run Derby, and all remaining players in the Play At The Plate Competition, 3 Strikes You re Out Competition, & the Inside The Park Homerun Competition. INDIVIDUAL - Home Run Derby 1. Each team must have at least 1 individual competing in the Home Run Derby 2. Each participant must provide their own pitching coach to pitch for them during the derby. 3. Each participant will receive 7 outs. An out is defined as any swing that does not result in a homerun over the fence in fair territory. 4. The individual with the highest number of homeruns will be the winner. If no homeruns are hit, the player with the longest hit will be declared the winner. If there is not a clear longest hit, the remaining players will have a final round to determine the winner. Play At The Plate Competition 1. Each team must have at least 1 individual competing in the Play At The Plate event. 2. Each participant will have 3 throws toward a designated target at home plate. Distance will be from left, center, & right field. 3. The individual with the highest number of hits of the target will be the winner. If the target is not hit, the individual with the closes hits will be declared the winner. Inside The Park Homerun Competition 1. Each team must have at least 1 individual competing in the Inside The Park Homerun event. 2. Each participant will have 2 attempts running the bases simulating an inside the park homerun. Each run will be timed. 3. The individual with the fastest time will be the winner. 3 Strikes You re Out Competition 1. Each team must have at least 1 individual competing in the 3 Strikes You re Out event. 2. Each participant will have 12 pitches to throw for 3 outs (9 strikes) at a designated pitching target. Distance will be 46 for 10U, 50 for 12U, and 60 6 for 15U. 3. The individual with the most strike outs will be the winner.

9 TEAM - Around The Horn Competition 1. Each team will have a fielder at all 4 bases (1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd, and Home). 2. Each team will have 3 series of rotating the ball around the bases. The first series will consist of the catcher throwing to the first baseman, the first baseman throwing to the second baseman, the second baseman throwing to the third baseman, and the third baseman throwing home. This complete rotating will be timed and the team will receive a time for series 1. The second series will consist of the catcher throwing to the third baseman, the third baseman throwing to the second baseman, the second baseman throwing to the first baseman, and the first baseman throwing home. This complete rotating will be timed and the team will receive a time for series 2. The third and final series will consist of the catcher throwing to the first baseman, the first baseman throwing to the second baseman, the second baseman throwing to the third baseman, the third baseman throwing to the catcher, the catcher throwing to the third baseman, the third baseman throwing to the second baseman, the second baseman throwing to the first baseman, and the first baseman throwing home. This complete rotating will be timed and the team will receive a time for series Any missed or overthrown balls will automatically disqualify the team for that series with a default time. 4. The team with the fastest average time from all three qualifying series will be the winner. Turn Two Competition 1. Each team will have a fielder at all 6 infield positions (pitcher, catcher, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and SS). 2. Each team coach will hit the ground ball to a fielder. They fielder must catch the ground ball and then throw to the appropriate base to start the double play. The next fielder will then throw to 1st base to complete the double play. The first baseman (or Pitcher covering first) will then throw the ball back to the catcher. 3. Once the catcher receives the throw and places the ball in the bucket, the next ground ball will be hit. 4. The competition will be timed from the start of the first groundball to the completion of the last double play. A failure to record any one of the outs will result in a 5 second penalty. The team with the fastest time will be the winner.
