If you do not agree with the recommendation from the Chair and Deputy Dean in Part II or would prefer that the item be referred to the next meeting for discussion, please advise me of this no later than no later than close of business Monday 14 th September If there are no objections by that date the item will be processed in the normal way and the recommendations recorded as resolutions of the Teaching and Learning Committee in the next set of minutes. 2 PART I: ITEMS FOR COMMUNICATION TO BE DEALT WITH EN BLOC PART II: ITEMS FOR DECISION TO BE DEALT WITH EN BLOC Nil 1. FACULTY OF SCIENCE 2015 TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIC FUND The Faculty of Science 2015 Teaching and Learning Strategic Fund has been set up to support initiatives related to pedagogy and the student experience. A call for applications went out to all staff in the Faculty on the 28 th July 2015, with a closing date of 21 st August The following criteria apply: Supported initiatives must comply with relevant strategies detailed in School and Faculty IPEs; Matching funds will normally be required from the relevant School/s; While funds will be available for School-specific projects, preference will be given to those with a clear, cross- Faculty benefit; Preference will also be given to proposals that leverage funds from outside the Faculty / School; Funding must be committed for expenditure during 2015; The Deputy Dean has the discretion to approve requests for strategic funding up to $5,000; The Science Executive Committee will consider requests for strategic funding between $5,000 and $30,000 upon recommendation from the Science Teaching & Learning Committee. A total of 14 applications were received by the closing date, however four of these were deemed ineligible as they were not considered to satisfy one or more of the criteria. One application has not been considered as it is deemed incomplete. The remaining nine applications are attached for Members consideration (). If agreed, the Associate Dean, Teaching and Learning (Chair) and Deputy Dean propose that the Teaching and Learning Committee recommend to the Science Executive Committee that the attached proposals be approved for Teaching and Learning strategic funding.
