3 2016 Men s D South State Championship Cape Girardeau August 6-7 (14 teams) A two-hour rain delay started things off Saturday morning at Shawnee Sports Complex in Cape, but the competition turned hot for the balance of the weekend. 618 lost its first game of the tournament and battled all the way through the losers bracket, beating Dirty Bird Nation 15-7 to force the if game, which DB National won the if game DB Nation had defeated Cruel Intentions in the winner s bracket final. Starting in 2015, teams did not have to automatically move up to C. The rules now require that players on top teams in D move up to D+ if they are currently classed D and to class C if they are currently D+. This gives a stair step on the requirement to move from D to C. More often as not, these top teams would disband and break into 3-4 teams and the players would remain in D. This can still happen under the new rules, but if a PLAYER finishes high twice, they will be in class C. The other change to the mandatory classification was that affected teams could be 1, 2, 3 or even 4 teams. Input we use is how many teams were in the tournament, what the game scores were, and recommendation from the tournament director. DID YOU KNOW? No player is automatically moved down. You must appeal your classification. For 2017, we urge players to do their appeals early on. Most leagues from around the state report increases, albeit small ones, in local league participation.
