The 10 SO marked the most ever by a left-handed pitcher in a Red Sox debut...it also marked the most SO ever by a Red Sox lefty in a season opener. He was the first Red Sox to reach double-digit SO in his Red Sox debut since Daisuke Matsuzaka in 2007, and was the first Boston pitcher to the 10-SO mark on Opening Day since Josh Beckett in It was Price s 30th career 10+ SO game, 1 shy of the AL lead since 2009 (Felix Hernandez & Chris Sale, 31).
