Boston opened a 10-day, 9-game homestand with a win over the Yankees last night...the club is off Thursday after 3 games with New York...Then Boston hosts the Phillies in the Sox final Interleague set of the year, followed by 3 here against the Blue Jays. SPLIT SEASON: Boston has played 131 games this year, going (.415) in their fi rst 65 games but (.515) in their 66 games since then (dating back to 6/16). DE AZA DEALT: Yesterday the Red Sox traded Alejandro De Aza and cash considerations to the Giants for minor league LHP Luis Ysla (pronounced EES-lah ). Ysla, 23, will be assigned to High-A Salem and will work in relief...the left-hander has 95 SO in 79.2 IP with High-A San Jose this year, going 3-6 with a 6.21 ERA (55 ER) in 33 games (9 starts)...he earned postseason All-Star honors in each of his fi rst 2 minor league seasons with the Rookie-level Arizona League Giants in 2013 and Single-A Augusta in 2014, where he won the South Atlantic League ERA title (2.45). CALLED UP: Today the Red Sox will recall Ryan Cook and Noe Ramirez from Triple-A Pawtucket, and will select Allen Craig and Sandy Leon to the active roster from Pawtucket. ON THE RECORD: The Red Sox are 9-4 (.692) since 8/18, tied for 2nd best record in the AL behind Toronto (.692, 9-3)...They rank 5th in the AL with a (.586) record dating back to 7/30. The Red Sox are 9-games under.500 and have not been as little as 8-games under since 7/20 (42-50). Boston is 13.0 GB in the AL East, but just 2.0 games behind the 4th place Orioles (63-68), who have lost 11 of their last GB for the 2nd Wild Card. Kelly is the fi rst Red Sox pitcher to win 6 games in any calendar month since Pedro Martinez went 6-0 in May No Red Sox pitcher had won 6 games in any single August since Roger Clemens in 1990 (6-0). Elias says Kelly is the 2nd AL pitcher ever to win at least 6 games in a calendar month without a loss for a team that was in last place every day of that month... TWICE AT 22: Last night, 22-year-old Eduardo Rodriguez earned his 2nd win of 2015 against NYY (also 7/11)...He became the 1st Red Sox pitcher to beat the Yankees twice in a season before turning 23 since Lynn McGlothen in 1972 (2 wins at 22 years old) and just the 2nd Red Sox left-hander to do it since 1918 (also Billy Rohr in 1967 at 21 years old). KEPT IT IN THE PARK: The Red Sox have gone 6 straight games without a homer allowed since Jose Abreu knocked one out in the 1st inning on Wednesday in Chicago, a span of 61.0 consecutive homerless innings. These 6 games mark Boston s longest stretch without a HR allowed since a 7-game stretch from 5/11-17/12. HOME IMPROVEMENT: The Sox have won 10 of their last 15 home games to improve to at Fenway this year.
