6 SAFETY Standover Height and Frame Fit Standover height is the key element of the bicycle fit (refer to the illustration below). For most bikes, it is the distance from the ground to the top of the bicycle s frame at the point where the top of your inner leg would be if you were straddling the bike and standing half way between the saddle and the handlebars (refer to the illustration that follows). To determine that the standover height is correct, straddle the bicycle while wearing the kind of shoes you will wear when riding, then bounce vigorously on your heels. If your crotch touches the top bar, the frame is too big for you. Your electric bicycle should give you a minimum standover height clearance of approximately 7 centimeters (2.8 inches). If in doubt, ask your dealer to assist you in finding the proper frame for your size. Saddle Position It is also essential to set your saddle position according to your personal preference to ensure maximum performance and comfort while riding. If you find that the saddle is not comfortable, ask your dealer to assist you in making any adjustments. Height Adjustments To check for the correct saddle height: sit on the saddle; place one heel on a pedal; rotate the crank until the pedal with your heel on it is in the down position and the crank arm is parallel to the seat tube. If your leg is not completely straight and just touching the center of the pedal, your saddle needs to be adjusted. If your hips have to rock for the heel to reach the pedal, the saddle is too high. If your knees are obviously bent with your heel on the pedal, your saddle is too low. SAFETY Front and back adjustments The saddle can be adjusted forward or backward to ensure your ideal position for performance and comfort. Saddle angle adjustments The angle of the saddle can be adjusted either up or down. Many riders choose a horizontal saddle, but some prefer the saddle angle adjusted slightly up or down. Your dealer can make any adjustments for you or teach you to do it yourself. If you do make adjustments yourself, remember that small changes to the saddle angle can have a substantial effect on the bicycle s performance and your comfort. Therefore, make small adjustments to the saddle for one direction at a time. Ride the bicycle in a safe environment to evaluate performance and comfort before adjusting further. WARNING: Be sure to double check that you have securely tightened the saddle adjusting mechanism after each adjustment before riding. A loose saddle clamp can cause damage to your bicycle and/or cause you to lose control and fall. A securely tightened saddle will not move in any direction, so check the saddle for movement before riding your bicycle. This is done easily and quickly by grabbing the saddle and trying to move it in different directions. WARNING: To avoid personal injury: It has been claimed that extended riding with an incorrectly adjusted saddle or a saddle that does not support your pelvic area correctly can cause short- or long-term injury to your nerves and blood vessels, or even cause impotence. If your saddle causes you any pain, numbness or discomfort, see your dealer as soon as possible to ensure that the saddle model and/or adjustments are correct for your body and riding style. Important Bicycle Safety Instructions Routinely check the condition of your bicycle before each ride. Assure that nuts, bolts, screws and other fasteners are secure, but not over-tightened. Assure that wheels are true; and that handlebar grips or extensions are not loose. WARNING: Incorrect tightening of nuts, bolts, screws and other fasteners on your bicycle can result in component failure, which can cause you to lose control and fall. A qualified bicycle mechanic with a torque wrench should perform any adjustments. If you need to make an adjustment at home or in the field, we urge you to exercise care, and to have the fasteners you worked on checked by your dealer or a qualified bicycle mechanic as soon as possible. WARNING: Wheels must be true; tires in good condition and properly inflated. Check tires by spinning each wheel slowly and look for nicks or cuts in the tread and sidewall. Replace damaged tires before riding the bicycle. Check the brakes for proper operation. 7 SAFETY the brake pads make full contact with the disc brake rotor squarely within an inch of brake lever movement you can apply full braking force at the levers without touching the handlebar. If any of the above is not true, your brakes need adjustment. Do not ride the bicycle until the brakes are properly adjusted by a qualified bicycle mechanic. WARNING: Loose or damaged handlebar grips or extensions can cause you to lose control and fall. Unplugged handlebars or extensions have sharp edges and can cause cuts or a serious accident. General Riding Safety Instructions Proper Riding Attire If you are wearing loose pants, use leg clips or elastic bands to prevent them from being caught in the chain or gears. Wear proper riding attire and avoid wearing open-toed shoes. HELMETS: CAUTION: To avoid possible injury,we strongly advise that a properly fitting, ANSI or SNELL approved bicycle safety helmet be worn at all times when riding your electric bicycle. The correct helmet should: be comfortable, be lightweight, have good ventilation, fit correctly, and cover forehead. Proper Helmet Wear Helmet is securely strapped on and forehead is protected. Improper Helmet Wear Helmet is loosely strapped on; and forehead is exposed and vulnerable to serious injury. General Bicycle Riding Rules This electric bicycle is intended for single rider only. Do not attempt to carry a passenger. Obey the same road laws as all other road vehicles, including giving way to pedestrians, and obeying all traffic lights and signs. Ride predictably and in a straight line. Never ride against traffic. Use accepted hand signals to indicate turning or stopping. Ride defensively. Make sure you are visible at all times to other road users. Pay attention to the road ahead. Avoid pot holes, gravel, wet road markings, oil, curbs, speed bumps, drain grates and other obstacles. SAFETY Cross train tracks at a 90 degree angle or walk your bicycle across at an approved crossing point. Expect the unexpected, such as opening car doors or vehicles backing out of concealed driveways. Be particularly careful at intersections and when passing other vehicles. Familiarize yourself with all the bicycle s features. Practice gear shifts, braking, and the use of toe clips and straps, if fitted, in a safe, secluded area before your first ride in traffic. Don t carry packages or passengers that will interfere with your visibility or control of the bicycle. Don t use accessories that may restrict your hearing or distract you (such as headphones or cell phones). Keep a comfortable stopping distance from all other riders, vehicles and objects. Remember that safe braking distances and forces are subject to the prevailing weather conditions. Use designated bicycle paths where possible. Wet Weather CAUTION: To avoid possible mild electric or irreversible damage to your electric bicycle, we recommend you do not ride in wet weather. This electric bicycle is not intended for use in water (such as damp roads, puddles, rain, streams, etc.). It is not intended for storing or parking in locations that are exposed to the natural elements. Never immerse the bicycle in liquids, as the electrical system may be damaged. Night Riding CAUTION: To avoid possible injury, we recommend you ride at night only when if necessary. When doing so, take the following precautions: Use a properly functioning lighting set comprised of a white front lamp and a red rear lamp. If using battery powered lights, make sure batteries are well charged. Some rear lights available have a flashing mechanism that enhances visibility. Wear reflective and light colored clothing to increase visibility. Exercise extra caution and use familiar roads with adequate street lighting if possible. Your bicycle is supplied with one front (white), one rear (red), two tire (white), and four pedal (orange) reflectors. These are important safety and legal requirements, and should remain securely fitted and in good, clean condition at all times. Periodically inspect all reflectors, brackets and mounting hardware for signs of wear or damage. Replace immediately if damage is found. 6 7 InFrameManual_ indd 6-7 1/7/2012 2:48:30 PM

8 SAFETY CHECKLIST For optimal safety, always carry out the following safety checks before each ride: Brakes Confirm that front and rear brakes are working properly. Confirm that the calliper is not excessively worn and that the rotor is positioned correctly in relation to the calliper. Confirm that brake control cables are lubricated, correctly adjusted and display no obvious wear. Confirm that brake control levers are lubricated and secured tightly to the handlebar. Wheels and Tires Confirm that tires are inflated to within the recommended limit as displayed on the tire sidewall. Confirm that tires have tread; and have no bulges or excessive signs of wear. Confirm that rims run true with no obvious wobbles or kinks. Confirm that all wheel spokes are tight and not broken. Check that axle nuts are tight. If your bicycle is fitted with quick release axles, make sure locking levers are correctly tensioned and in the closed position. Steering Confirm that the handlebar and stem are correctly adjusted, tightened, and allow proper steering. Confirm that the handlebars are set correctly in relation to the forks and the direction of travel. Check that the headset locking mechanism is properly adjusted and tightened. If the bicycle is fitted with handlebar end extensions, ensure they are properly positioned and tightened. Chain Confirm that the chain is oiled, clean and runs smoothly. Be aware that extra care is required in wet or dusty conditions. Bearings Confirm that all bearings are lubricated, run freely and display no excess movement, grinding or rattling. Check headset, wheel bearings, pedal bearings and bottom bracket bearings. Cranks and Pedals Confirm that pedals are securely tightened to the cranks. Confirm that cranks are securely tightened to the axle and are not bent. Derailleurs and Brakes Confirm that front and rear mechanisms are adjusted and function properly. Confirm that shift and brake levers are securely attached to the handlebar, shift and brake. Ensure derailleurs, shift levers and shift and brake cables are properly lubricated. SAFETY CHECKLIST Frame and Fork Confirm that the frame and fork are not bent or broken. If either are bent or broken, they should be replaced immediately. Saddle Confirm that the saddle is in the desired position and has been securely tightened (there is no movement). Accessories Confirm that all reflectors are properly fitted and not obscured. Confirm that all other fittings on the bicycle are properly and securely fastened, and functioning correctly. Make sure you are wearing a helmet. Motor Drive Assembly and Throttle Confirm that all motor drive components are correctly mounted and functioning properly. 9 PREPARING TO RIDE Assembly Reflectors Some bicycles will require you to install your reflectors onto your bicycle. Please refer to the following section for instructions on all the types of bicycle reflectors. NOTE: Applies to only certain models. Certain models come with pre-assembled or other reflector styles. Mount Reflector Bracket Assembly First insert one washer onto the hex bolt and insert hex bolt through the reflector bracket and then through the fork. Next, insert a second washer onto the bolt and thread a hex nut onto the bolt behind the fork. Tighten bolts until snug, making sure the reflector is in an upright position. See diagram at the right. Seat and Handlebar Mounting Reflectors First attach the reflector to the reflector bracket with the reflector screw, see the top diagram. Next, remove the clamp screw and open the clamping reflector bracket. Place clamping reflector bracket around the handlebar or seatpost. If the clamp is too loose, insert a rubber spear inside of the clamp. Tighten the clamp screw to hold reflector assembly in place, see the second diagram. Finally, adjust the reflector assembly in place and ensure that it is upright and facing away from the bike. Seatstay Mount Reflector Bracket Assembly First insert one washer onto the hex bolt and insert hex bolt through the reflector bracket and then through the seatstay bridge. Next, insert a second washer onto the bolt and thread a hex nut onto the bolt behind the seatstay bridge. Tighten bolts until snug, making sure the reflector is in an upright position. See diagram at the bottom right. PREPARING TO RIDE Wheel Quick Release Understanding how your electric bicycle works assures your bicycle s continued performance and adds to your safety and riding enjoyment. The manufacturer recommends that familiarize yourself with the basic technical information that follows. If required, contact your local dealer or authorized bicycle service provider for clarification or additional information. IMPORTANT: It is recommended that any service requiring rear wheel removal be completed by an authorized bicycle service provider. WARNING: To avoid the risk of serious injury: Riding with an improperly mounted or adjusted wheel quick release can cause the wheel to wobble or disengage from the fork, causing injury or death to the rider. Observe the following to properly mount and/or adjust a front wheel quick release to avoid this risk. Ask your dealer to show you the proper way to remove and install the front wheel. Understand and utilize the correct technique for mounting your wheel with the quick release device. Check that the wheel is mounted correctly before every ride. The wheel quick release uses a cam action to clamp the wheel in place on the bicycle (refer to the figure below). Because it is adjustable, it is important that you understand how it works, how to use it properly, and how much force you need to apply to secure the wheel InFrameManual_ indd /7/2012 2:48:31 PM

10 PREPARING TO RIDE WARNING: Securing the nut with one hand while rotating the lever like a wing nut with the other hand until everything feels as tight as you can get it will not clamp the wheel safely in the dropouts. Full force of the cam action is required to clamp the wheel securely. Adjusting the Quick Release Mechanism (front wheel only) The wheel hub is clamped in place by the force of the quick release cam pushing against one dropout and pulling the tension-adjusting nut, by way of the skewer, against the other dropout. The tension-adjusting nut controls the amount of clamping force. Turning the tension-adjusting nut clockwise while keeping the cam lever from rotating increases clamping force; turning it counterclockwise while keeping the cam lever from rotating reduces clamping force. Less than half a turn of the tension-adjusting nut can make the difference between secure clamping force and insecure clamping force. Refer to the accompanying figure. Front Wheel Secondary Retention Devices Your electric bicycle has a secondary wheel retention device to keep the wheel from disengaging from the front forks if the quick release is incorrectly mounted. However, the secondary mounting device is not a substitute for correct quick release adjustments. WARNING: To avoid the risk of serious injury: Removing or disabling the secondary retention device is extremely dangerous and may lead to serious injury or death. It may also void your warranty. For more information, contact the manufacturer or your Polaris licensed electric bicycle dealer. Removing and Installing a Quick Release Front Wheel 1. Move the wheel s quick release lever from the locked or closed position to the open position (refer to the accompanying illustration). 2. To disengage the secondary quick release, loosen the tension adjusting nut sufficiently to allow removal of the wheel. 3. Raise the front wheel a few inches off the ground and bang the top of the wheel with the palm of your hand to knock the wheel out of the front fork. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of property damage: Your electric bicycle comes equipped with disc brakes. Take care to avoid damaging the disc, caliper or brake pads when re-inserting the disc into the caliper. Never activate a disc brake control lever unless the disc is correctly inserted in the caliper. PREPARING TO RIDE Installing A Front Wheel Quick Release 1. Move the quick release lever so that it curves away from the wheel (refer to the illustration in the Removing the Quick Release section). This is the open position. 2. With the steering fork facing forward, insert the wheel between the fork blades so that the axle seats firmly at the tip of the slots, which are at the tips of the fork blades the fork dropouts. The quick release lever should be on the left side of the bicycle. 3. Holding the quick release lever in the open position with your right hand, tighten the tension adjusting nut with your left hand until finger tight against the fork dropout (refer to the illustration on page 12). 4. While pushing the wheel firmly to the top of the slots in the fork dropouts, and at the same time centering the wheel rim in the fork, move the quick release lever upwards and swing it into the closed position (refer to the illustration in the Removing the Quick Release section). The lever should now be parallel to the fork blade and curved toward the wheel. To apply enough clamping force, you should have to wrap your fingers around the fork blade for leverage, and the lever should leave a clear imprint in the palm of your hand. CAUTION: Securely clamping the wheel requires considerable force. If you can fully close the quick release without wrapping your fingers around the fork blade for leverage, and the lever does not leave a clear imprint in the palm of your hand, the tension is insufficient. Open the lever, turn the tensionadjusting nut clockwise a quarter turn, then try again. If the lever cannot be pushed all the way to a position parallel to the fork blade, return the lever to the open position; then turn the tension-adjusting nut counterclockwise one-quarter turn and try tightening the lever again. 5. Re-engage the brake quick release mechanism to restore correct brake pad to disc clearance; spin the wheel to make sure that it is centered in the frame and clears the disc, then squeeze the brake lever and make sure that the brakes are operating correctly. SHIFTING GEARS Your electric bicycle has a combination of a derailleur drivetrain and a variable power assist drive system. The gear-changing mechanism on your Polaris bicycle includes: One shifter on the handlebar (either click or twist) Rear derailleur Rear freewheel sprocket cluster One chainring Drivetrain InFrameManual_ indd /7/2012 2:48:31 PM

11 PREPARING TO RIDE How A Derailleur Drivetrain Works Your electric bicycle comes equipped with a lever (click) style or twist-grip-style shifter used to change your gears. Identify the shifters on your bike before reading on. A downshift is a shift to a slower gear, one which is easier to pedal. An upshift is a shift to a faster, harder to pedal gear. For example, you can select a gear which will make pedaling easier on a hill (downshift) in one of two ways: shift the chain down the gear steps to a smaller gear at the front, or up the gear steps to a larger gear at the rear. So, at the rear gear cluster, what is called a downshift actually looks like an upshift. The way to keep things straight in your head is to remember that shifting the chain in towards the centre line of the bike (downshifting) is for accelerating and climbing. Moving the chain out or away from the bike s centerline (upshifting) is for speed. Whether upshifting or downshifting, the bicycle derailleur system design requires that the drive chain be moving forward and be under at least some tension. A derailleur will shift only if you are pedaling forward. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of property damage: Never move the shifter while back-pedaling or pedal backwards after having moved the shifter. This could cause the chain to jam and seriously damage your electric bicycle. Shifting the Rear Derailleur The rear derailleur is controlled by the lever (click) shift or twist-grip shift on the handlebar. The function of the derailleur is to move the drive chain from one gear sprocket to another. The smaller sprockets on the gear cluster produce higher gear ratios. Pedaling in the higher gears requires greater pedaling effort, but takes you a greater distance with each revolution of the pedal. The larger sprockets produce lower gear ratios. Using them requires less pedaling effort, but takes you a shorter distance with each pedal revolution. Moving the chain from a smaller sprocket of the gear cluster to a larger sprocket results in a downshift. Moving the chain to a larger sprocket results in an upshift. In order for the derailleur to move the chain from one sprocket to another, the rider must be pedaling forward. The manufacturer recommends that you find the starting gear that is right for your level of ability a gear that is hard enough for quick acceleration, yet easy enough to let you start from a stopped position without wobbling. Experiment with upshifting and downshifting to get a feel for the different gear combinations. Before taking your first ride, practice shifting in an area where there is no other traffic, obstacles or hazards, until you feel confident. If you have persistent difficulties shifting, the problem could require mechanical adjustment. See your dealer or authorized repair person for assistance. PREPARING TO RIDE Installing and Removing the Battery The rechargeable Pro-Ride Lithium-Ion battery and related electronic circuitry are mounted inside the purpose-built Polaris /EVantage battery container. The lithium-ion cells are lightweight and environmentally friendly. The battery is maintenance free, other than recharging it with the supplied charger. The Lithium-Ion battery can be restored to 100% of its original capacity (after each full charge) until approximately 500 cycles (about two years if fully discharged daily), after which capacity will gradually decrease to 80% during the next 500 cycles. CAUTION: The battery container should never be opened, as electric shock may result. Contact EVantage should you suspect a battery malfunction. Installing: 1. Insert battery container into open compartment in the down tube of the bicycle. Make sure to face charging port-side down. 2. Gently push down to connect to the battery receptacle. 3. Seal and lock the battery in place using the supplied key. 4. Remove key and store in a safe place. Removing: 1. Make sure the electric bicycle is in the off position. 2. Unlock the battery container with the supplied key. 3. Lift the container from the top to release from quick connect battery receptacle. 4. 13 CONTROLS AND OPERATION Information Center Dashboard It is strongly recommended that you take some time to become comfortable with the Command Console functions before setting out on your first ride. Choose a setting that is free of traffic or other obstacles to practice using the electric bicycle. While the system is easy to use, it may take some time getting familiar with the control panel to ensure that you enjoy all that the power assist system has to offer while ensuring a safe and enjoyable ride. SPEEDOMETER CONTROLS AND OPERATION Warning Signal In the event of an overheating motor or battery, your display will indicate the status based on the symbols below: INFORMATION CENTER WARNING SIGNAL Low Battery Warning In the event the battery charge level becomes low, the empty battery icon will flash. IC Dashboard Control Instructions Power On the System Press the Power Button ( ) BATTERY/REGEN METER ASSISTANCE LEVEL Assistance When system is OFF, you are riding a conventional bicycle. To activate assistance, tum the system ON. The system activates at Level 1. You can adjust assistance level as described below in the operations chart. Note: The console automatically switches OFF after 5 minutes of inactivity. Arc Regeneration (Arc Regen) Mode Your Polaris licensed electric bicycle comes equipped with an ARC REGEN power recovery system. During braking, downhill riding or when the bike reaches speeds beyond that of the motor power alone (in excess of 20 mph), your bicycle will automatically enter REGENERATION mode. When bicycle is in ARC REGEN mode, the Battery Meter on the IC Dashboard will show a flashing regen symbol. When your electric bike is turned off, you may notice a slight resistance as a result of the ARC REGEN mechanics inside. This will not impact bike performance when REGEN is not active. 14 CONTROLS AND OPERATION Motor-Wheel/Generator The motor-wheel / generator is mounted in the rear wheel of the bicycle. It is a sealed unit and is maintenance free. CONTROLS AND OPERATION To activate the throttle, compress the throttle lever. You may stop pedaling and the throttle will continue supplying power. In the event that you brake or stop throttling, you must once again pedal one full rotation to reactivate the throttle. Controller Below the pedal crank area of your Polaris licensed electric bicycle is the EVantage Smart Controller. The EVantage Smart Controller is the control center of your electric bicycle. Range and Performance Maximum range on a full charge depends on many variables, such as battery age, terrain, rider weight, ambient temperature, riding style and speed. CAUTION: To avoid possible damage to your bicycle: Please do not attempt to remove or alter the control box or control box cover. Any alteration will void your warranty. In the event of any technical needs, please contact EVantage customer service. EVantage Throttle It is strongly recommended that you take some time to become comfortable with the throttle of your electric bicycle before before riding for the first time. Choose a setting that is free of traffic or other obstacles to practice using the throttle. Your Polaris licensed electric bicycle comes equipped with throttle-on-demand. Important: As a safety feature, throttle on-demand will only engage once you have manually completed one full pedal rotation. Once initially engaged, the throttle will re-engage without pedaling if speed is above 8 mph. If below 8 mph, you must manually pedal before motor assistance will re-engage. Conditions That Affect Your Battery s Range Ambient temperature: Extreme cold and heat can effect the battery s capacity. Total number of charge cycles: As the battery ages, total capacity can decrease. Wind: Riding into a strong headwind can decrease range; traveling with a tailwind can increase range. Road conditions: Excessively rough or hilly terrain requires the consumption of more power. The flatter the road, the longer the range. Load: Carrying extra weight on the rear carrier or in a backpack will consume more power. Operator weight: The lighter the rider, the longer the range. Repeated acceleration from a standing start (frequent starting and stopping). Proper gear usage: Taking full advantage of the available gears will significantly increase range. Poor maintenance: Under-inflated tires, misadjusted brakes, or a dry or dirty chain can decrease range. Batteries: Properly charged and maintained batteries will yield the greatest possible range and run time. Batteries stored in cold areas (below 50 F / 10 C) will show reduced range. 15 CONTROLS AND OPERATION Tips For Maximizing Range Charge the battery after each ride following the recommendations in the Safety section and the Preparing To Ride section. Charging a partially full battery will have no negative effects. Use the bicycle gears to full advantage when encountering terrain of varying elevations. Maintain proper tire pressure. Assure that the chain is free of dust and dirt, and that it is properly lubricated. Operating your electric bicycle at temperatures ranging between 40 F and 85 F will significantly increase range. Have your electric bicycle serviced on a regular basis (every 12 months) at an authorized dealership. CARE AND MAINTENANCE Bicycle Care Maintaining your bicycle ensures that you will get the most out of every ride for the entire life of your Polaris licensed electric bicycle. How much of the maintenance you can do on your own depends on your knowledge, skill, experience and whether you have the necessary tools for the job. Learning from available cycling literature and joining cycling communities can be an enjoyable way of improving your skill and knowledge about bicycle maintenance. The following will help you maintain your electric bicycle for years of enjoyable riding. Properly maintain the batteries by keeping them fully charged when not in use. Do not ride your electrical bicycle in the water (damp roads, puddles, rain, streams, etc.) and never immerse it in water, as the electrical system may be damaged. Periodically check the wiring and connectors to ensure there is no damage and the connectors have good continuity. For frames, dust the surface and remove any loose dirt with a dry cloth. To clean, wipe with a damp cloth soaked in a mild detergent mixture. Dry with a cloth and polish with car or furniture wax. Use soap and water to clean plastic parts and rubber tires. Never use high-pressure water or compressed air to clean your electric bicycle. These can force water and debris into sensitive electronic components, which could cause a malfunction. Store your bicycle under shelter or store under a cover. Avoid leaving it in the elements or exposed to corrosive materials. Riding on the beach or in coastal areas exposes your bicycle to salt, which is very corrosive. Clean your bicycle after riding in such condiitons, and re-treat all unpainted parts with an anti-rust treatment. After rain, dry your bicycle and apply anti-rust treatment. Make sure disc brake rotors are dry so braking performance is not affected. If your bicycle s torque sensor becomes water-logged and the bicycle will not function properly, dry the sensor with a common household hair dryer on a low setting. If the hub and bottom bracket bearings of your bicycle have been submerged in water, they should be taken out and re-greased. This will prevent accelerated bearing deterioration. If paint has become scratched or chipped to the metal, use touch up paint to prevent rust. Clear nail polish can also be used as a preventative measure. 16 CARE AND MAINTENANCE Battery Approximate Battery Life If used in accordance with the guidelines in this manual, the Li-Ion battery has an expected life span of full charge cycles. Battery Disposal WARNING: To avoid serious damage and physical injury, never dispose of the battery or a bicycle containing a battery in a fire. Car Racks When transporting your electric bicycle, it is essential that you use a rack approved for such use. The bicycle must be supported from the wheels, and never mounted by its frame. For a list of approved bicycle racks, contact EVantage, tollfree, at EVANTAGE ( ). When transporting the electric bicycle on a car rack, make sure the bicycle is thoroughly covered to protect it from the elements. Rear Carrier Rack On models with a rear carrier rack, make sure that all parcels are securely mounted, with no parts interfering with the operation of the rear wheel and chain. Total weight of the load attached to the rear carrier rack should never exceed 35 lbs. Refer to carrier rack manufacturer for specified weight limits. Never use the rear carrier rack as a passenger seat or allow anyone to sit on it. CAUTION: Failure to secure parcels on the rear carrier rack can lead to a fall and possible injury. Care and Maintenance Schedule Before Each Ride Perform mechanical safety checks (see page 8) and make sure you have a fully charged battery. Make sure the rear reflector is not covered or obstructed. Every 10 Hours of Riding Clean your bicycle, including the chain rings and sprocket. Clean and lightly oil the chain. Every 20 to 30 Hours of Riding Squeeze the brakes and rock the bike to check for any looseness with each forward or backward movement. If the headset is loose, tighten it or have your dealer check it. Lift the front wheel and rotate handlebars to check for tightness of steering, it may be necessary to lubricate the ball bearings. Check and recalibrate the brakes, replace ithem f they are worn out. Squeeze the spokes in adjoining pairs between your thumb and index finger. They all should have the same tension. Have your dealer re-spoke or true the wheel if necessary. Check cables for rust, kinks or fraying, have your dealer replace them if necessary. WARRANTY AND SPECIFICATIONS Limited Warranty Polaris licensed products manufactured or distributed by EVantage and EVantage powered branded products are warranted to the original retail purchaser to be free from defects in materials and workmanship in the frame and components. Please go to to register your warranty. FRAME: The frame is warranted to be free from manufacturing and material defects for as long as the original warranty owner owns the bike. BATTERY: The battery is warranted to be free from defects in workmanship for a period of 1 yearfrom original warranty activation (date of purchase). The battery warranty does not include damage from power surges, use of improper charger, improper maintenance, improper storage or other such misuse, or normal wear. Warranties are limited to repair and/or replacement parts judged by EVantage at its sole discretion to be defective. MOTOR COMPONENTS: The motor components are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 1 year, from original warranty activation (date of purchase). ALL OTHER COMPONENTS: (excluding tires, tubes, chain) Warranted to be free from defects in workmanship for a period of 180 days. EVantage will not be liable and/or responsible for any damage, failure or loss caused by any unauthorized service or use of unauthorized parts. The EVantage limited Warranty does not cover or apply to any EVantage product used for rental or commercial purposes unless the specific product is designated, labeled or marketed by EVantage as acceptable for rental or commercial use.
