1 RIDER INFORMATION 12th Annual Villa Charities GIRO Cycling Fundraiser Sunday, May, 2018 at Veneto Centre, 7465 Kipling Avenue In support of Toronto & Benvenuti! On behalf of everyone at Villa Charities, THANK YOU for participating in the 12th Annual Villa Charities Giro 2018! Giro is an enjoyable 25km, 60km or 100km ride through King City and. This year, funds raised through Giro support the purchase of new specialized beds for residents at Toronto and. This package contains everything you need to know about event day. Please read this information carefully before you arrive at Veneto Centre on Sunday, May, Once again, thank you for your time and commitment to Giro We look forward to riding with you!

2 EVENT DAY Sunday, May, 2018 Veneto Centre, 7465 Kipling Avenue Woodbridge DIRECTIONS & PARKING AT VENETO CENTRE The closest main intersection to Veneto Centre is Hwy 7 and Kipling Avenue. Free parking is available for all cyclists; volunteers will be onsite (look for the pink shirts) to assist with parking directions. *All riders must arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled start time. REGISTRATION AND CHECK-IN 6:30am 8:30am Riders will pick up their timing chip, route maps, and sign a liability waiver (mandatory) and photo release waiver (not mandatory). The 11 Inc. will be onsite during registration for tune-ups and mechanical support. Washrooms are onsite if you would like to change before lunch.

3 STAGGERED START TIMES **IMPORTANT** New this year, we will have two start times: 8:00 AM START For riders who will complete their ride (any route) in three hours or more 9:00 AM START For riders who will complete their ride (any route) in three hours or less When considering which start time is right for you, remember to factor in time spent at rest stops. We recommend allowing at least 15 minutes per rest stop. *Riders must arrive at least 30 minutes before their scheduled start times. SWEEP CARS The sweep cars will be riding all three routes and they are there for your safety. The cars will lead the way and set the pace for the ride. They are available in case of medical emergencies or mechanical breakdowns. ROUTE SIGNS/MARKERS Cyclists riding the 100k route follow the pink directional signs. Cyclists riding the 60k route follow the green directional signs. Cyclists riding the 25k route follow the green directional signs to (first rest stop), then follow the blue directional signs for the remainder of the ride. If you get lost along the route, call a Villa Charities staff member or a sweep car lead. Phone numbers can be found on the front of your route maps (given out at registration). WEATHER The ride will continue rain or shine. Community Centre - all routes Address: 1 Villa Royale Avenue Refreshments: Italian cookies and espresso, gelato, water, fruit, granola bars KING / QUEEN OF THE MOUNTAIN CHALLENGE This challenge takes place on the 60km and 100km routes. Each of the challenge winners will receive the prestigious Maglia Azzurra jersey during lunch. To participate in this challenge, riders MUST collect their Chip & Bib at Check-In/ Registration. Both chip and bib should be placed on your bike. 6 ROAD USE The streets and roads are not closed to traffic while the event is on. Streets and roads will remain open to normal traffic and riders MUST ride accordingly. York Region Paid Duty Officers and Motor Marshalls will be in attendance along the route and at major intersections; however, there will be other intersections without personnel. When approaching intersections and crossing main roads, riders may be asked (by an Officer or Motor Marshall) to wait until it is safe to proceed. For the safety of all riders and motorists please obey the instructions issued. Riders must: Obey all road rules at all times Leave no extra space No half-wheeling Ride safely and in control, no more than 2 wide Look out for hazards and point out hazards to those around you Obey the instructions of the Paid Duty Officers and Motor Marshalls Keep to the right of the road at all times, particularly when no lines exist Wear a bicycle helmet Obey traffic signals (including lights and stop signs) IN CASE OF EMERGENCY For minor injuries, call Robert: Paramedic Duty Officer, For water, first aid kits, or mechanical issues, call: Sweep Car Lead 100km, Massimo Onorati, Sweep Car Lead 60km, Nick Fagnani, For all other inquiries, call Villa Charities staff: Amy Armstrong, Anna Stubbs, *In the event of a serious accident or lifethreatening emergency, immediately call 911.
