YOUR GUIDE TO STAYING ON TRACK WITH CINRYZE THERAPY Indication CINRYZE (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) is an injectable prescription medicine that is used to help prevent swelling and/or painful attacks in teenagers and adults with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE). You should not use CINRYZE if you have had life-threatening immediate hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, to the product. Please see additional on adjacent pages. Please see the Full Prescribing Information available at Proven Prevention Hereditary Angioedema
THINK ABOUT WHY YOU HAVE CHOSEN TO PROACTIVELY TREAT YOUR HAE You and your doctor decided together to choose preventative therapy to help manage your HAE. On average, an untreated patient will experience 2 to 4 attacks per month. About 50% of patients have experienced at least 1 throat attack a Some patients experiencing untreated abdominal attacks had to stay in bed between 24 and 50 hours b a In a survey of 209 patients. b In a survey of 23 patients. Knowing that I m being proactive about my own healthcare by treating my HAE prophylactically keeps me motivated to stay on my CINRYZE infusion schedule. Lisa, a real HAE patient Tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you: have an indwelling catheter/access device in one of your veins. have a history of blood clots, heart disease, or stroke. are taking birth control pills or androgens. are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known if CINRYZE (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) can harm your unborn baby. are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if CINRYZE passes into your milk and if it can harm your baby. Please see additional on adjacent pages. Please see the Full Prescribing Information available at
TAKE CINRYZE AS PRESCRIBED TO HELP PREVENT HAE ATTACKS By taking CINRYZE (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) as prescribed, you will continue to help reduce the frequency and severity of HAE attacks. In a clinical study, patients taking CINRYZE experienced fewer attacks, as well as a decrease in attack severity, attack duration, and the number of days of swelling, compared with patients taking placebo. While on CINRYZE, the majority of the 22 patients in the clinical trial had fewer attacks than while on placebo. However, the response to CINRYZE varied; 4 patients did not experience any attacks and 2 patients had more attacks Not every day is perfect, but I believe that every day has the potential to be what I choose to make it. I m fortunate that I ve found a treatment that works for me. Scott, a real HAE patient Allergic reactions may occur with CINRYZE. Call your healthcare provider or get emergency support services right away if you have any of the following symptoms: wheezing difficulty breathing chest tightness turning blue (look at lips and gums) fast heartbeat swelling of the face faintness rash hives
TRACK YOUR INFUSIONS TO HELP MANAGE YOUR HAE Staying on track with your CINRYZE (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) infusions is an important part of your preventative treatment. Using a calendar, planner, or journal is a good way to keep records of your infusion schedule, appointments, and supply order reminders. I m motivated to stick to my treatment schedule because it s working for me to help prevent HAE attacks. I make sure I am doing what I know I can do for myself to avoid unnecessary stress. I maintain my treatment, wear my medical ID bracelet, and appreciate the swell-free moments I have. Victoria, a real HAE patient Serious blood clots may occur with CINRYZE. Call your healthcare provider or get emergency support services right away if you have any of the following symptoms: pain and/or swelling of an arm or leg with warmth over the affected area discoloration of an arm or leg unexplained shortness of breath chest pain or discomfort that worsens on deep breathing unexplained rapid heart rate numbness or weakness on one side of the body Because CINRYZE is made from human blood, it may carry a risk of transmitting infectious agents, e.g., viruses and, theoretically, the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) agent. Please see additional on adjacent pages. Please see the Full Prescribing Information available at
TALK TO YOUR PATIENT SUPPORT MANAGER ABOUT RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO YOU OnePath is there for you! Your Patient Support Manager can help you with access concerns and any changes in insurance coverage to facilitate ongoing access. He or she can connect you and your family members with educational resources about Shire HAE. OnePath also offers you a secure portal and mobile app to communicate with OnePath and track HAE health events. Path to Independence Hands-on training is available through infusion nurses to ensure you are confident in managing your own infusions. An infusion nurse can also work directly with family members and caregivers to make sure you have a support network even after the training sessions have finished. Patients should only self-administer after being trained by a healthcare provider. I self-administer CINRYZE twice a week. I like being able to self-administer, because I can do my infusions at home and I don t have to worry about the infusion center being closed. I like having more control of my schedule that way. Doug, a real HAE patient The most common side effects seen with CINRYZE (C1 esterase inhibitor [human]) were headache, nausea, rash, and vomiting. These are not all the possible side effects of CINRYZE. Tell your healthcare provider about any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA. Visit or call FDA-1088.
