1 Guys and Dolls will take the stage at the Fremont Community Theatre for three weekends in May. Beginning Friday, May 2 nd, familiar songs, such as Sit Down You re Rockin the Boat, Guys and Dolls, Take Back Your Mink, and Luck Be A Lady to name a few, will set your toes to tapping and make you want to sing along. The cast has been assembled, and they are now busy learning their lines, songs, and blocking. This group of talented people includes twelve new actors to the FCT stage. It s great to see so many new people getting involved with this production. One newcomer to our FCT stage is Kelly Fandrey from Swanton who is tackling the role of Sarah Brown. Playing Sky Masterson is Ken Flower who recently returned to Fremont and decided to rekindle his acting career. In the other two leads are two familiar faces most FCT patrons should recognize: Pam Meggitt is returning to take on her favorite role as Adelaide and John Ball of Bellevue will be portraying Nathan Detroit. 2 Something' Afoot--October 3,4,5,10,11,12 Something s Afoot is a musical spoof that takes a satirical jab at the Agatha Christie who dunit? murder mysteries. Ten people are stranded in an isolated English country estate during a raging thunderstorm. One by one they are killed in mysterious (and hilarious) ways as they try to discover the murderer's identity. The situation is complicated by rising floodwaters, power failures and suspicious behaviors carefully noted by Miss Tweed, an elderly amateur detective. It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play--December 5,6,7,12,13,14 Based on Frank Capra's classic film, It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play has all the adored characters and the same heartwarming tale of angel Clarence reminding despondent George Bailey of the important things in life. Presented in the style of a live 1940s radio show, the production features five actors playing over 50 characters. Prior to the beginning of the performance, the actors interact with the audience. Interspersed throughout the production are radio jingles recognizing sponsoring organizations. Also, audience members may submit radio grams to be read by the actors during the show. Funny Valentines--January 30,31 February 1,6,7,8 This is a delightful romantic comedy that takes place in the New York apartment of Andy Robbins, an author of children's books. Andy has been leading a rather unsuccessful bachelor life since his divorce eight months earlier from his wife and former collaborator, Ellen. Suddenly on one incredible day, Ellen re-enters Andy's life- -eight months pregnant (much to Andy's surprise) with their child; Howard, Andy's agent, appears with a TV contract that needs the approval of both Andy and the very reluctant Ellen; Zan, a beautiful lawyer arrives to wrap up the TV deal and seduce Andy; and Ellen's mother makes an unexpected appearance. By the final curtain, raggedy Andy has grown up just enough to straighten out the mess he's created and win back the love of his wife. Leading Ladies--March 20,21,22,27,28,29 Two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady's vivacious niece, Meg, who's engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there's a wide world out there, but it's not until she meets "Maxine and Stephanie" that she finally gets a taste of it. Cinderella--May 8,9,10,15,16,17 Come on now. You don t really need a description do you?!? This is a musical version of the well known story.

3 Tryouts for Grease, the FCT teen show, will be held on May 11 th and 12 th. Show dates are July and WOW! It sure has been a busy season, on stage and off, and that is what has kept me from writing in the last few issues. It's hard to believe we are preparing our last show of the season. Guys and Dolls promises to be a winning roll of the dice. We can look back on many funny and dramatic moments, and some of them even happened on stage! I could go on and on here if I was allotted the space, with some of my own personal philosophy on why we are here, what we want out of theatre, what else we can do next for our community, how we should behave not only around but to others, and the consequences of our actions. I like to view myself as a positive thinking person, generally looking to find what good there is in everybody and what great things we can accomplish IF and only when ALL work together. SO many of our talented members have SO much to offer our organization and productions, it's simply amazing! Does anyone out there ever think we thank them enough for the countless hours, sacrifices, loss of sleep, time away from family, friends, home, even work? How about the pricey gallons of gas to get back and forth to the theatre and run so many errands? Just to mention a few of the many ways many of our members show their dedication and commitment daily year after year to the continued success that has lead to 50 plus years of FCT! However we are definitely a "theatre in transition, facing such issues as a declining "active" membership, higher costs for everything, less and less free time due to pressures from two income families, numerous other interests that vie for every free minute of so many of our waking days even competition from the Internet, something our founding members could not have even imagined! Meanwhile we are still raising our expectations to do better and better productions to turn our theatre into a showcase for talented actors, technicians, and artists from the surrounding areas. We do have such a good thing going here; it seems so petty sometimes to sweat the little things. I challenged us back last summer to ACT (Another Completed Task), we have made some progress, but we do have so far to go yet, so even though our new year's resolutions might be far behind us, let's make an "anytime resolution" to not act out, act up, or act a fool, but act on stage or go for Another Completed Task! I think we have a great season ahead of us with this summer's FCTT production of Grease and into the year. It may not be easy but then few things that are worth it are. We will miss seeing some of the old faces around the theatre, they will be sorely missed but I hope they're new ones to welcome. Here's an idea. Let's make them feel welcome at FCT, who knows, we all may just live...happily Ever After? --Mitchell Antesky

4 Greetings FCT friends! Wow, spring already, and the May musical is coming up soon! I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the theatre for our rousing rendition of "Guys and Dolls". Well, I'm looking forward to being seen, at least. It's hard to see past the first couple rows when the lights are in my eyes. Call soon for your reservations, as this show is sure to have full houses all month! April 19th is our annual election dinner, as all the membership knows by now. If you aren't yet a member of FCT, it's not too late to join us this year. Becoming a member now will position you for all the opportunities that being a member has to offer. Send in your membership dues, just ten dollars, and join our little family, officially! You'll be invited to all the theatre functions, including the annual Laurel Awards dinner. It will be held in June this year at the Fremont Holiday Inn. Yes, it's still there, they just don't want us to know that during the remodeling. I've had one offer of assistance to work down the list of "things to do" at the theatre, and Pete (Lowry) and I would welcome anyone else who can lend a hand, whether or not it has a tool in it. The list keeps growing, so there'll be plenty to do when you get here. Speaking of which, I've got to get back to work. 5 Kristyn Hemeyer, a freshman at Bellevue High School and daughter of Robyn Romance (husband, Scott), will perform in Aida at the Bellevue Junior High School on April Kristyn was first seen in FCT's Wizard of Oz as a munchkin in She has also been in FCT's productions of Annie, Cinderella (teen show), as Marta in The Sound of Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and helped back stage for Cheaper by the Dozen. There is something new for next season. Did you notice? Musicals will only be performed for two weekends. The board decided they could save on the high cost of royalties and hopefully have a full house for six shows instead of partial houses for nine shows.
