1 Cherubs Chat Message from the Director Wow! September has come and gone so quickly. We have been lucky with the nice weather, and the children are really enjoying playing outside. On Monday, October 31st, we will be having our annual Costume Parade and Parties. Our parade will begin at 11:00 and the classroom lunch parties will follow. Parents, please use your discretion; if your child s costume is comfortable and easy to maneuver in then, by all means, let them wear it. If their costume is bulky and not so easy to move in, please send it in, clearly labeled in a bag and the teachers will dress your child. Please, no weapons allowed!!!!! Make sure ALL parts of the costume are labeled. There will most likely be duplicate costumes and we wouldn t want to mix them up. Please check outside your child s classroom for sign-up sheets for party goodies. If your child does not attend Cherubs on this day, feel free to come with them and join in the festivities. Wednesday, November 2nd, is school picture day. If your child/ren do not come to Cherubs on Wednesdays, please feel free to bring them in for pictures (siblings are also invited). Everyone likes to see themselves in the group photo. Please speak with me to get a ballpark time of when class pictures will be taken. Since we have 60+ children to be photographed, please be patient, we will get to you as soon as we can. Don t forget to send your child to school with a big happy smile :). More info will be sent out later. Just a few reminders *Please label EVERYTHING that your child brings into school. *Please DO NOT pack candy in your child s lunchbox...we like to focus on making healthy choices at lunchtime. *Please DO NOT send home toys to school, unless it is for show n tell. One small naptime friend is O.K. *Please make sure that your child has an extra set of weather appropriate clothes here at all times, clearly labeled. The children are excited to see Elmo and his friends each day and have been participating in activities based on Sesame Street. Our babies are also being introduced to Fall through stories, songs, creative art and sensory activities. Our little movers have been entertaining us with their walking, crawling and climbing skills. We welcomed our new friend Luciana and her family to our family! We are so happy that you have joined us. The children are happy to have a new friend to play with. During the month of October we will continue with our Sesame Street fun and fall activities. Mark your calendars! We will be having our Halloween party and parade on Monday, October 31st. Our parade starts at 11:00. Reminders will be forthcoming. 3 Explorers It is a wonder where September went. We had a great time enjoying our back to school themes. We had fun learning about our shapes, numbers, colors and letters by doing a lot of sticker and gluing projects. Did you see us all riding in our big school bus on the wall? Cute...huh? October is going to be a fun and crazy month. We will be focusing on making our room look spooky for Halloween with a lot of fun projects! On Monday, October 31st we will be having our all Halloween parade at 11:00. and then center parade. After the parade, we will enjoy our classroom lunch party. Please see the sign up sheet for goodies as the time comes closer. Happy Halloween! Miss Shannon Miss Dawn Miss Rebecca Miss Kayla Adventurers I We are planning on re-opening this classroom in November. Stay tuned.. Adventurers II September was a fun month! We enjoyed reading Eric Carle books and making fun projects to go along with them. We also made a lot of projects around the themes of apples, busses and the color red. Did you see our school bus driving down the wall with our cute faces hanging out of the windows? This month we will concentrate on making our classroom spooky and scary for Halloween. We will also focus on the color orange and pumpkins. Our book theme for this month is Scary Books. If you have any of these types of books at home, please feel free to share them with us. Our Halloween parade starts at 11:00 on the 31st. Our classroom lunch parties will begin afterwards. Please keep your eyes peeled for a party sign up sheet. Have a happy and safe Halloween! Miss Marilyn Miss Melissa Miss Beth (to be back soon) Page 3
4 Achievers I In September we had a lot of fun! We made a special book of All About Me. We included our favorite colors, favorite food and our favorite thing to do. We then moved onto dinosaurs. We dug through fossils, made our own dinosaurs and made a lot more dinosaur projects. This month, we will continue learning about Fall and how the leaves change colors. We will also focus on our shapes, pumpkins and Halloween. On the 13th we will be taking a field trip to C.N. Smith Farms in Bridgewater and get to pick out our own pumpkin!
