A look back at their time spent as part of the Summit s soccer program show their involvement in many important games 9/10/2009: a 3-1 victory against CCD, a revenge win for the lone league loss last season; 10/22/2009: the Sectional Championship 1-0 win against CCD; 9/20/2010: the first win (4-0) over Mariemont in six seasons; 10/7/10: a win (6-1) against CHCA giving the team two consecutive MVC titles; 8/24/11: a season opening win (1-0) against DII state contender Indian Hill (still remains their lone loss on the season); 9/26/11: a wild game against Norwood scoring 4 goals in a 4 1/2 minute span; 10/8/11 a convincing 2-0 win over city #1 ranked Mariemont; the 2011 tournament run with four straight one goal ins against Badin, Mariemont, Madeira and Fenwick; 11/12/11: the 5-2 state title game over Laurel; 8/21/12: a second consecutive win over Indian Hill. The cumulative statistics for the senior class is impressive: 31 varsity letters, 512 games played, 349 games started, 503 shots, 362 shots on goal, 125 goals scored, 26 game winners, 83 goals assisted, 341 total points, 18 shutouts, 59 saves, 57 wins (the most in a four year span) and of course are state champions. These offensive statistics are each the highest of any graduating class in the history of the school. The ten departing seniors are going to leave a large void, but an important stamp upon the soccer program. Sheila Eustace 6 Mary Meyer 7 Caroline O Connell 8 Ayanna Parker 9 Melissa Saele 10 Elizabeth Williams 11 Student Manager A special thanks goes out to senior student manager Gus Stewart. Gus has served as the student manager for the past two seasons. Duties have included mostly game day management. Gus is responsible for collecting referee vouchers and providing the referees with any need they may have, trading rosters with the opposing team, helping Coach Fee organize the locker room and bench areas and providing communication between the bench and press box. More importantly though, Gus has been an enthusiastic supporter of the girls soccer program. He has traveled with the team and has been part of the victories and defeats over the past two seasons. Gus is accepted a member of this program. As his counselor, I have come to greatly value our relationship. I enjoy our light conversations and the heavier conversations about life and family and his future. Thank you Gus for your important contributions and your enthusiastic presence. -Coach Fee

She has always provided a spark off the bench. Twice during the state championship run last season it was her performance that enabled us to take our play to a higher level. Against Clermont Northeastern, she drew a penalty in the box late in the first half to open the scoring and capped the game with the last goal to seal the victory. In the state championship match, it was her pass that found the open Emily Wiser to start the scoring. As a coach, I am proud to have had Mar as part of the program. She embodies the type of player I love to coach hard working, dedicated, a desire to continue to learn and a great representative of our school. Thank you Amauria for all your contributions. -Coach Fee You can always count on Amauria Campbell to brighten your day. She is one of the most caring and loving people I know. Whether she has another new joke or she is dancing down the halls ways again, she will always put a smile on your face and give you a good laugh. Over the past three years I have looked up to Mar as a role model on and off the field. She will always go out of her way to put others before herself. She is a great friend and will always be there for you no matter what. Her ability to lighten the mood and bring spirit and fun to the situation but maintain a level of seriousness and focus amazes me every day. She inspires no just me, but everyone around her to work hard, but to always enjoy yourself and have fun. She is an incredible person and will be greatly missed next year! -Sophie Adams, Class of 2014

She worked very hard for her first two years, improving her skills as a defender, regularly displaying that she was one of the better players on the JV squad. She was finally able to make the leap to varsity as a junior last season. An injury at the beginning of the season prevented her from breaking into the rotation, but she worked herself back into form and was able to contribute during the state run. I really loved watching her run onto the field during the championship game. It made me proud as a coach to see her hard work rewarded. Thank you Natalie for your contributions for the past four years. Best of luck. Natalie s first career goal was a game winner against Purcell Marian on 10/1/12 - Coach Fee It has been a pleasure to play with you. You always come to practices and games with a smile on your face, ready to give 100%. I have never seen you without a positive attitude. You are willing to support and help members of the team before yourself. You lead by example, and are an amazing role model for the underclassmen. The team would not be a same without you. Thank you for all the time and effort you have put in to the Summit soccer program the past four years! You will be missed! Meredith Schertzinger, Class of 2014

4 2012 Seniors Page 4 Ellie Cooney # Junior Varsity letter Junior Varsity letter Varsity letter Varsity letter TOTALS Ellie s rankings in team history: Games played, career (45) T56 th Goals, career (1) T91 st Assists, career (1) T82 nd Points, career (3) T95 th Ellie 2010 Junior Varsity Team MVP 2011 All Southwest Ohio Academic; State Champion 2012 All Southwest Ohio Academic; All Ohio Academic I personally believe that it was Ellie s insertion into the starting lineup last season that enabled us to begin to make the run we did last year. We had tried several different formations and mixtures of players, but Ellie really solidified the defense. Like a few of the other seniors, Ellie paid her dues training and playing with the JV squad. I thought she made great strides between sophomore and junior years and took full advantage of the opportunity she was given last year. She has not relinquished that starting position, having now started 26 consecutive games. The greatest compliment to Ellie comes from classmate Izzie Englehart. When I asked Izzie if she wanted me to put Meredith in Ellie s spot when we were preserving a tight lead in a tournament game, she said, No, I want Ellie in the game. I am very proud of the great defender and teammate Ellie has become. - Coach Fee Ellie scored her first career goal this year against St. Bernard. Ellie is one of the hardest working people I know. She is always on the field giving 100 percent. One thing I admire about Ellie is her quiet leadership. If we are having an off game, not playing well, or just need some inspiration, you can always look at Ellie. Her hard work and determination lifts the team when we are down. In the state tournament last year, Ellie stepped up when we really needed her, and helped lead the team to a State Championship. She has been a key player in every win since, and plays every game with the same passion and desire she displayed during state. I know we will all miss Ellie next year, but I am sure that she will go on and do great things. Emily Wiser, Class of 2015

The first is her goal against Fenwick in the state semi-final. True to Izzie s character, her celebration was a simple fist pump. That moment defines her. She never gets overly emotional. Her teammates often mirror this behavior to the benefit of the team. The second image is of her holding the state trophy above her head after the championship and presenting it to the student body and fans. Even in that moment she was holding her emotions in check, but you could see the pride in her face. Where ever life takes her in the future, I am going to be proud to have once coached Izzie. Best of luck Iz. -Coach Fee My sister, Izzie Englehart, is one of the most caring people I know, and the best sister anyone could ask for. From my very first day as a freshman, Izzie knew that I was nervous about going to a new school and not knowing many people, but she immediately introduced me to all of her friends and helped me figure out my schedule. She is the reason why I instantly felt welcome and comfortable at Summit. Izzie is a great leader, and has been captain for two years now. She is always working hard and leading by example in the games and in practice. She goes above and beyond on whatever activity she is doing. Izzie is the rock of our team and is always there to cover our mistakes. However, she is not just a great role model on the field, but off the field as well. She is my best friend and a great sister, and I know I can always rely on her no matter what. I look up to her and respect her so much. I think every coach and teacher would agree that Izzie represents our school perfectly. I know Izzie will do great wherever she ends up, and whatever she ends up doing. Izzie will always be my best friend, and my role model. -Addie Englehart, Class of 2014

As a coach, it is often difficult to get players to put forth a consistent effort every time they take the field. This is not the case with Sheila. She puts every ounce of effort into her training. You never have to push her to work harder. This intensity serves her off the field as well. She is a terrific student and currently holds the highest GPA on the team. I will miss her intensity and work ethic, but it is my hope that she has made a positive effect upon the younger members of her team. -Coach Fee Sheila scored a goal on the only shot she took her sophomore year. I've known Sheila for most of my life, and she is like another sister to me. It's amazing to be able to play on the same soccer team as her for not only one, but two years! She's inspirational to watch, she always tries so hard and pushes herself. Even when she gets aggravated with herself, she strives to be better, and it pushes me to try to be the best I can be. Not only is she devoted to soccer, her work ethic on and off the field is unshakeable. Whatever she does, she puts her whole heart into and doesn't stop until its done. Sheila is a brilliant soccer player and an incredible friend, an essential part of the team. -Brenna Biggs, Class of 2015

7 Page Seniors Mary Meyer Captain-#14 Mary Mary currently stands in 6th in school history in career assists, but amazingly has never recorded two in one game Varsity letter Varsity letter Varsity letter Varsity letter TOTALS Mary s rankings in team history: Games played, career (85) T1 st Goals, career (30) 7 th Assists, career (22) 6 th Points, career (82) 7 th 2010 All Southwest Ohio Academic Game winning goals, career (4) T13 th Multiple goal games, career (4) T10 th 2011 All Southwest Ohio Academic; State Champion 2012 Team Captain; Team Coaches Award; MVC Honorable Mention; All Southwest Ohio Academic; All Ohio Academic; City all-star game participant Mary has such a great sense of how to play the game. You see her playing with a knowledge of what needs to be done. While she has accumulated some great statistics in her career, she is constantly doing the little things that make a team successful tracking back to make a tackle, winning a ball, finding the feet of a teammate with a well placed pass. I have told Mary on several occasions that I believe she is going to be a coach some day. She has such a high soccer IQ. I love to see her on the sidelines some day coaching a team. -Coach Fee Teammate (Sister) Dedication Dear Mary, When I think back on our childhood memories, some of the best ones are playing soccer together in the unfinished basement of our old house in St. Bernard. It would be the two of us against dad and we would have to work so hard to beat him because of course he would never just let us win. I remember growing up and going to every single one of your soccer games. I was, and still am your biggest fan. I can remember sometimes a friend would ask me to come over the same day as one of your games and I would have to tell them no because your games and tournaments were always more important to me. I thought I was going to die during those games in the state tournament last year. I would be over with dad, standing alone when Summit did not have a comfortable lead and yelling at the referees when they called something terrible. I cannot tell you how happy I am that you were able to accomplish your dream of winning state. I have seen how hard you have worked your entire life and you honestly deserve every moment of recognition you have received. I have become so used to having you in the room right next to mine and I am going to miss you so much next year when you go off to college. I honestly do not know what I am going to do without you and it will be really hard to manage, but knowing that you are having the time of your life in college is going to be what gets me through it. When I look up to you, I see so many things. I not only see a leader of a great soccer team, but I also see what a smart and beautiful person you truly are. You are one of the most loving people I know and I do not know of one person who does not find you friendly and fun to be around. I am so proud to call you my sister and I know that wherever you go in life and whatever you do, you will be successful. I love you so much and I am so grateful that God has blessed me someone as wonderful and caring as you. Love, Lauren, Class of 2014

8 2012 Seniors Page 8 Caroline O Connell # Junior Varsity letter Junior Varsity letter Varsity letter Varsity letter TOTALS Caroline s rankings in team history: Games played, career (19) T100 th Goals, career (1) T91 st Points, career (2) T105 th Caroline Coach Dedication 2011 State Champion Caroline came to Summit as an attacking player, and played that position as a freshman and sophomore. She made the varsity team as a junior, but did not receive much of an opportunity in the misfield. She really began emerging last season when we began training her as a defender. The staff saw her confidence rising and she started to become more of a force in training. When given the opportunity, she has performed well, including two great games earlier this season against St. Bernard and Cincinnati Christian. I love to see her playing now with more confidence. I am so appreciative of the time I have had with her both on the soccer field and in the building. -Coach Fee Caroline scored her first career goal, a penalty kick, this season against Cincinnati Christian. The first time I met Caroline she left me speechless. I think it was her humorous personality that stuck out to me. Caroline is very unique in her own way, from her sense of style to her amazing gift for writing. Having known her for about two years now, she hass assumed a very important role in my life. Her leadership not only on the soccer field, but academically, and socially has improved me as in individual. Her talent in writing - for the lack of better words is extraordinary. I ve watched her assume the leadership of editor of the school magazine Ellipsis and contribute and support our soccer team through the last three seasons. From her hilarious comments to her inspiring work, Caroline will be very much missed next year. -Ellie Adams, Class of 2014

Record Junior Varsity letter Varsity letter Varsity letter TOTALS Ayanna Ayanna will be the third consecutive graduating goalkeeper from Summit to play at the collegiate level following Anna Albi 10 (Carnegie Mellon) and Liz Arnold 12 (Emory). Ayanna s rankings in team history: Games played, career (34) T79 th Shutouts, career (25) 3 rd Consecutive shutouts, career (7) 1 st Saves, career (97) 7 th Wins, career (29) 4 th Goals against average, career (0.3) 1 st Winning percentage, career (.900) 1 st Shutouts, season (16) 1 st Save percentage, season (0.924) 1 st Wins, season (19) 1 st 2012 Team Captain; Team Defensive MVP; MVC 1st Team; All Southwest Ohio; City all-star game participant Ayanna made a very difficult personal decision to not play high school soccer last fall. I supported her in her decision, knowing that the most difficult position in soccer is that of being the backup keeper. With that decision behind us, we were so excited to have her back with the program this year. The improvement she has made over the past year is astounding. She was always a great athlete, but had to improve her technical skills. She has done this and now is an impactful keeper. She has won several games for us this year with her athletic saves. She graduates holding thirteen school records, several of which are going to be difficult for others to match. We will watch proudly as her career at Kentucky unfolds over the next four seasons. Best of luck Ayanna. -Coach Fee Yans you've helped me so much this past season improve my skills and play. I'm so glad you came back to play. You're a great role model and a great goalkeeper. I hope you do well at UK! Thanks for being a great teammate and friend! -Abby Semler, Class of 2014

She played with a poise of a more veteran player. I knew immediately that she would have the center mid position locked down for all four seasons. I thought she really arrived as a player her sophomore year. Her task was to man mark all -American player Morgan Beck from Mariemont. Mel absolutely frustrated Beck the entire match, not allowing her to take one shot in the game. Mariemont has not beaten us since that game, including four Beck-led matchups. Last season, it was Melissa s voice that urged the team to recommitment themselves. Her inspiration led us to the successful tournament run. -Coach Fee Melissa will become the 50th player in school history to earn four varsity letters. Melissa, I look up to you so much. You are hardworking, on the field and off which is something I admire you for. Not only do you work hard, you also ask for the same effort out of all of the team. You are true to yourself and you aren t afraid to say what needs to be worked on. You have not only helped me become better, but you ve helped everyone on our team when we haven t done our best. You ve always provided encouragement for all of us. Melissa, you are a great leader and you will be missed by the whole team. We love you Mel! (Or Mo, as Coach Harring would like to call you). -Mia Schreibeis, Class of 2014

Reflection? Deflection? Who cares! Willie will graduate with nine school records. This is by far the most amount ever accumulated by a non-goalie graduating senior MVC Second Team 2010 MVC First Team; All Southwest Ohio Academic; All Southwest Ohio; 2011 MVC First Team; All Southwest Ohio Academic; All Southwest Ohio; All-State Second Team 2012 Team Captain; Team Offensive MVP; MVC First Team; MVC Player of the Year; All-SW Ohio; SW Ohio Player of the Year; City all-star game participant; All Southwest Ohio Academic; All- Ohio; All Ohio Academic; NSCAA all-region IV There are so many little snapshots I can share about Willie, but the space is limited. Some lasting on-field memories include many goals the most memorable being the overtime goal against Fenwick in the state semi-final. There are times when great goal scorers just will their team to victory. Willie has done this amazingly 15 times in her career. No one in school history is even close at this point. Off the field of play, she constantly entertains us stumbling through her words (we share this in common), the most memorable being her interview after the Fenwick win. Thank you Willie for bringing your enthusiasm and love of life everyday. That has been a gift to me. Coach Fee Hey buddy! You are the greatest thing ever. No other way in putting it. I've known you basically my entire life and every time I see you, your face makes me smile. The way you laugh just puts me in a better mood. Willie you are one of the most interesting human beings I've ever met. You're kind, caring, loving, and unique. You treat everyone the same and make people feel like they matter to you. Oh yeah, and your humor... It's awesome! Haha out jokes will never be forgotten (DRIVE, tippy touch) I don't know what it's gonna be like playing without you, but I know for a fact just in the last three years, you've made the seasons 10 times better and more fun. To be honest there is no way I can describe our relationship in the little thingy. But Willie just know I love you and will miss you like crazy. You're what every friend wants and I'm glad I can call you my best friend. I love you. Bryce Hueber, Class of 2014

12 Dear Mommy and Daddy, I am so thankful for everything you have done in my life. You have been by my side my entire life and always encouraged me in whatever I did, whether it be school, soccer or basketball, or anything else. I don t know where I would be without you too. Thank you for everything. I LOVE YOU! Amauria Dear Mom and Dad, Thanks for being my biggest fans and teaching me to never give up. I love you more than words can say. Natalie Dear Mom and Dad, Thank you so much for all you have done to help me. You have supported me in all aspects of life, on and off the field. I truly appreciate everything you have done for me and value you both so much. Thank you for always trying to come to my games even if they conflicted with a meeting or work. You have always been there cheering me on even if I mess up or make a mistake. Your support has helped me through difficult times and I am grateful that you both can so often be there for me. I love you both a lot and I am so happy that you can be here with me today. Ellie Dear Mom and Dad, You know how much I love you. I can't thank you enough for all the work you've done and everything you've sacrificed over the years for me. I know I haven't always made it easy, but I am who I am because of you. I hope you are proud of the person I have become, because I am so proud of the parents that you are. Love always, Izzie Dear Mommy and Pops, A girl could not ask for better parents. You two are the most loving and supportive role models and I am so grateful to have you in my life. I cannot begin to describe all the times you were my only source of strength and motivation that kept me working so hard. It is unimaginable to think of what I would do without your encouraging words, constant protection and unbounded love. You taught me to be passionate and caring, perseverant and strong, but most of all how to be a person loving and true to my self. Mom you are my best friend and I am so thankful for everything you do, which is so many things. Dad the way you support our family, your determination and your principles are so admirable. I hope to be just like you two when I grow up. I thank you for coming to every game and every meet, washing my clothes, letting me vent, giving me tips, and keeping me healthy. You are the best parents and best role models. Mom and Dad, you know I love you with all my heart. Thanks for everything. Sincerely with love, Your little girl, Sheila

13 Dear Mom and Dad, I would like to start this letter off by saying that I love you. None of this would be possible without your love, support and guidance. I am so blessed to have the both of you in my life. Dad, you are the person that made me the player I am. If it were not for you I probably would not even be playing soccer. You constantly pushed me to be the best that I could be and it definitely paid off. You taught me to work hard, appreciate something I love, and listen, learn and then apply the things I was taught. Mom, you have helped me so much growing up and have strongly shaped who I am today (whether that s a good thing or not.) I am just like you and I couldn t be prouder because you are an amazing person. There is nothing I could say or do to repay you for all that you have given me but someday I hope to do so. Thank you for letting me enjoy what I love for so many years and supporting me all the way through. Mom and dad, thanks for the memories and the love. I am so proud to call you my parents and be a part of the beautiful family that you created. It is sad that it is over but also you don t have to spend so much money and actually have a real life. I owe everything I have to you. Tonight, I am playing for you guys. Keep it real. Love always, Mary Dear Mama Llama Ding Dong and Papa Smush, Thanks for packing my soccer bag everyday and carrying it to and from my car... )0( Tootsie Petunia, Potato out Dear Mom and Dad, Thank you for giving me the opportunity to play soccer. And thank you for giving me the chance to go to such a great school with a great soccer program. I don't say this a lot but, I love you guys! And I'm ready for soccer at the next level. Go Wildcats! Ayanna Dear Mom and Dad, I have no idea where to start in writing this letter, so I will just start by saying thank you. I cannot put into words how much you two have done for me in the seventeen years I have been alive. Both of you have dedicated your lives to me, which I will be forever thankful for. Mom, you probably put me in every sport possible as a child, from horseback riding, to softball, to ballet, to figure skating, until I found the sport I grew to love, soccer. I am so blessed that you kept trying with me until I found the love for something, which is now a big part of my life. Dad, thank you for always being at my games to cheer me on, traveling around the nation with me for tournaments, and filming games so I will have something to look back on when I am older. I think one of the things that I will miss the most about soccer is getting to spend so much time with you while traveling around for tournament games. Mom and dad, you two have inspired me to push myself in everything I do, and for that I am truly thankful. I thought I would never see my senior night finally come; it is amazing how fast this precious time went. However, there are no two people I would rather walk down the field with except for you two, my mom and dad. I love you with all my heart. Love, Melissa Mom...Dad... Keep it real. Elizabeth
