3 3 River Ridge Football Parent/Guardian Letter Knights, I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge THANK YOU! Not every teacher or coach has the opportunity to work with great young people who are respectful, hard working, and have integrity. However, at River Ridge, we have that opportunity each and every day. It is a pleasure to walk through the doors to work alongside young people who are making the most of their situations and getting the most out of their educational experience. This makes working with your child a pleasure. I m excited that your son has expressed interest to play football. The coaching staff and myself have been working hard to find young men who we feel will represent this football program, this school, and this community in an honorable fashion. There are a lot of commitments that go along with playing football including off-season workouts, in-season training sessions, fundraising, film study, camps, and games. The coaching staff is excited for the opportunity to coach your son and build men of character who will represent your family and this school in a way in which you can be proud. The coaching staff will test your athlete s limits, will push them beyond their expectations, teach them technique, coach them through their struggles, and mentor them to help them mature. But, please understand that your child s success in this football program will be defined by 3 questions: 1) Is this young man a man of character who does what s right without being told or without someone watching his every move? 2) Does this young man have the work ethic to go out and create something for himself whether at a post-secondary school or in the work place? 3) Does this young man have the grades to make himself academically eligible to enroll at a post-secondary school if he so chooses? Finally, the overall success of this football program is up to each and every one of us. It isn t just the players and coaches that make Friday nights special. It is the behind the scenes work that takes this program to the next level. I want to thank each of you for volunteering your time and efforts to making River Ridge Football a first class program. 4 4 Athlete s Name Parent/Guardian Expectations 1. The Player Plays. The Coach Coaches. The Parent Supports. 2. We will be a class act! We will not disrespect referees or opposing teams. It is a game being played by kids. The referees are humans; they make mistakes. 3. Parents are expected to volunteer. We cannot function at a high level without parental involvement. 4. Player Dues: Every penny goes back to your athlete. $250 dues includes pregame meals, equipment upgrades, uniform upgrades, camps, transportation fee, etc. 5. Meetings If you have a problem or issue, you, your athlete, and I will meet. Your athlete must be present. We will not discuss playing time at any time. Also, please allow 24 hrs from any game before scheduling or attempting to schedule a meeting. 6. Communicate: If your athlete will be missing practice, he should contact me immediately. In addition, I ask that you contact me via tyler.wynn@cherokee.k12.ga.us or by phone (706) **Please do not engage or promote mindless complaining about this program. If you have a problem or a complaint, bring the issue to me. I understand the expectations and will commit to supporting my child and their athletic/academic career. I understand that playing time will be based on effort, skill, character and the final decisions will be made on coach s discretion. I will speak positively about the athletic program in all public settings and before my child. If conflict does occur or an issue needs to be addressed with a coach, I will seek to schedule an appointment with Coach Wynn to sort through the disagreement/issue. 5 5 River Ridge Football Player Expectations: ATTENDANCE POLICY: Excused Absences: Extremes defined by Coach Wynn (if you re not sure, it s probably not excused.) All excused absences will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Unexcused Absences: Examples Dentist appointment, Doctor check-up, Birthday party, haircut appointment, Babysitting, Work, School Work, etc. 1 st Farmer s Carry with weight- 1 mile 2 nd Farmer s Carry with weight- 1 mile; Sit 1 quarter 3 rd Dismissed from the team By missing your 3 rd unexcused practice you are stating I quit. SUMMER ATTENDANCE: Summer attendance is completely optional BUT so is playing time. Athletes will be evaluated on their strength, speed, commitment, and athletic ability all summer. In addition, for you to compete in football, you need to be in the best shape possible. Summer workouts will ensure you are ready when the season begins. If you are playing another sport, send me your summer schedule and we will meet to discuss attendance. Finally, if you are in town, BE AT SUMMER WORKOUTS! ATTITUDE: Be positive and believe in our system! Present this program, your teammates, coaches, and fans in a positive light. Be a good teammate who cares about the success of others and gives their best effort to make their team better. 1 st Offense- Farmer s Carry with weight 1 mile 2 nd Offense- Farmer s Carry with weight 1 mile, Sit 1 quarter 3 rd Offense- Offenses will be handled on a case by case basis. Punishment can range from playing time to dismissal from the program. EFFORT: The amount of effort each player exerts is a choice and it is not limited to talent level. As a team and as individuals we must look at the man in the mirror and ask this question: AM I DOING MY BEST? 1 st Offense- 5 make it stops 2 nd Offense- 15 make it stops 3 rd Offense- 200 yard bear crawl Coach s Choice ACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITY: The reason you are in school is because of academics. The difference in where you are now and where you want to go is your education. A. Eligibility: if you are not eligible, you cannot help the team B. Be on time for class C. Keep your grades up. D. Turn in a grade sheet to Coach Sullivan every Thursday during the season. Be PROMPT: On time is late! Always be 5 minutes early to practice, meetings, film, etc. Leave it BETTER THAN YOU FOUND IT!: Clean up after yourself and take care of our facilities. Take care of our opposition s facilities. Take care of the little things.

6 6 Guidelines for injuries and injured players: Meet with our Athletic trainer daily. Attend ALL practices / stay mentally sharp / assist managers / water bottles. Rehab injury so you can return when you are healthy. Remain with the team, wear game jersey on game days, be present with your teammates in the locker room and on the sidelines. The difference between being "hurt" and being "injured": The only day you will not be hurting is the first day. From that day on until the end of the season, you may have aches and pains. If you have an injury, you need to get it taken care of. If you have an ache (a hurt) you need to learn to play with it, it is part of the game. LETTERING POLICY: 4 Quarters of Varsity play (an appearance counts as a quarter). Finish the season in good standing with the coaches, teachers, and administration. Dress/Attend all Varsity football games. Note-Any senior who finishes the season in good standing with coaches, teachers, and administration will receive a letter for their dedication and commitment to the program. Also, any player may be given a letter who the coaches feel is deserving. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Substance Abuse: No drinking or possession of alcoholic beverages is allowed at any time. Drug possession or use of any kind is strictly prohibited. No smoking is allowed at any time. Smokeless tobacco products may not be used at any time. The school code of conduct will be used for any of the above offenses. I understand the expectations and requirements set forth in this player agreement. 13 13 Player Dues: $250 Player Dues - This payment covers your athlete to play football at River Ridge. This money helps us cover pregame meals, equipment upgrades, uniform upgrades, camps, transportation fees, etc. Checks payable to RRQC Memo Player Dues $250 Player Pack - This payment covers any additional gear offered by our program. An athlete who purchases the player pack will receive shorts, a short sleeve t shirt, a long sleeve t shirt, a hooded sweatshirt, and a backpack. Checks payable to RRQC Memo Player Pack NOTE An athlete who does not pay their player dues will not receive or have the option to purchase a player pack. $100 Sand Training - This payment covers training at BLITZ SPORTS with Rashid Gayle. There are 10 available sessions for our athletes on the calendar. Checks payable to RRQC Memo Speed Training $150 Uniform and Volunteer Check - This check will be held and cashed at the completion of the varsity football season if uniform items are not returned or volunteer hours are not met. 18 18 Fundraising Agreement Form Why do we fundraise? We are a self-sufficient athletic program. We do not receive a spending allowance from our athletic department. Nor do we collect Gate Money at our home events. It is up to our Booster Club, parents, athletes, and sponsors to raise funds for our program. How do we fundraise? We will have 3 major fundraisers within the calendar year 1) Card Sales ($20/card) 2) Golf Tournament 3) Shottenkirk Car Raffle What do our fundraisers benefit? Our goal is to run a first class program where our athletes get the best of the best. The best uniforms, the best equipment, the best helmets, the best shoulder pads, the best travel, etc. Money collected from our fundraisers this year will go directly towards purchasing new helmets, shoulder pads, uniforms, and equipment. In addition, the art of communication is being lost. Many students do not have the basic people skills to communicate with another individual. Carrying on a conversation has been replaced by a 120-character tweet or a text message. The Card fundraiser allows our athletes the opportunity to go out and communicate. They will use this life skill long after playing in our program. Expectations: 1) CARD FUNDRAISER - EVERY athlete in this program is expected to sell 20 of the fundraising cards. The cards have a FREE OIL CHANGE, $10 off at Pizza Hut, Buy one/get one at Buffalos, etc. The cards sell themselves if we go out and knock on doors, make calls, send s, etc. 2) GOLF TOURNAMENT - Our executive board works hard to bring in multiple sponsors for a first class event. We ask nothing of our players in regards to this fundraiser. We do ask for parents to push this to their colleagues, friends, and family. 3) SHOTTENKIRK RAFFLE - EVERY family is expected to sell 20 tickets for this raffle ($5/Piece).
