There was a huge crowd at Spiky s Birthday Bash Hash at Mar Vista Watersports Centre. There were 45 members, a huge contingent from FTAC, a group from Tuesday Hash Kakis, some PI members and other odd bods, including ladies who had been to the salon and were wearing beautiful party attire (They made the rest of us look like bag ladies and hobos) In the circle we were told it was a medium run and there were no checks so off we trundled up the tarmac drive, over the main road and into the new construction area. By this time the FTAC were already showing their macho stuff and were running however they were going to the apartments and not up to the jungle so Mini got them sorted. Wan Ton Mee (FTAC) took the opportunity to jump on the forklift truck and get a ride to the jungle entry point. Once in the jungle we edged our way round the hill and up. The going was quite tough because of the recent heavy rain. The pack was getting strung out as the climbing got more serious. We could see we would have to go to the top before there would be any relief and we had got that right. However with a great deal of huffing and puffing we did get there. Because of the ominous overhead clouds it was getting dark very early so we started the on down jogging the bits that were not too slippery and slithering down the rest. Although there was plenty of paper it was difficult to see it because it was already pitch black but we made it back to

2 the water tower and then down the road to the mosque and back to the site. As soon as I was back a strong wind started to blow and as we were by the sea many of us wished we had a wind surfer or a sailing boat as the wind here is usually to pathetic to enjoy these activities. But after moments those low threatening clouds opened up and released a torrential downpour. By the time I had washed and changed most of the runners were back and the hordes had started demolishing the food. A few more staggered in wet and tired and then I had just 2 cards left. I had finished eating before Rambo and Toddy appeared covered in mud and exhausted. Rambo said they had found the last bit very difficult because the rain made the paper hard to spot and the ground too slippery to stay upright. However, we could not relax yet because Rebecca and two guests were still in the jungle and it was another half hour before Rebecca was welcomed with Why was she born so beautiful. Whatever was going round with the vodka bottle and Helmut had the tray of shot glasses. They were giving vodka slammers and causing more riotous behaviour We had a short circle. Of course the first on ice was Spiky and she was presented with 3 cakes (one made by Christine in the shape of Spiky s bosom!) and we sang Happy Birthday to her. While we were doing this Puki Loo rushed in to push her face in a cake and bungled it and the cake ended up on the floor. Next on ice was Michael Longhair who was charged with coming too late to run and he was wished a happy birthday. Then we iced Hot Lips because she has the best legs on the Hash and she was also wished a happy birthday. Wan Ton Mee was iced for starting the run on the forklift and the FTAC song rendition at this point was fantastic. Puki Loo was iced for wasting the cake and one of the FTAC guys managed to throw the cake all over him. [At this rate we will be able to hire out a circus act) Spiky iced Christine for making the bosom cake. We saw that chivalry is not yet dead as Dr. Bypass sat on the ice and Christine sat on him. Hokkanay was iced for coming late and not wearing a Hash T-shirt. Spikey iced Sperm whale and Inspector Gadget for setting the run. The FTAC GM was iced for giving 5 crates of beer. Hari Hari Mau, Alexis and Maniam were iced for each one giving a crate of beer. Spikey then iced Hokkanay (providing music equipment) Grasshopper (DJ), Spermwhale and Gadget (Hares) for helping her. Last on ice was Spiky and the general feeling was that she had provided a great run, large quantities of delicious food and provided a brilliant location and music. After the circle the party started with music, dancing (From Spiky and Rambo pole dancing), chatting, laughing and beer quaffing. It was the best night for the Harriets since the 2000 th.
