2 Run: 2399 Date: 01 February 2018 Venue: Bayee Pass Bunny: Mem Sahib Burst by Iceman The road from Air Hitam up to the run site continues to display the power of the November rains, with the blue plastic sheeting attempting to hold back the mountains from sliding into the valleys. On reaching the parking lot, the ready availability of parking spaces showed that the Harriets are losing the traveling bug. With only a hard core of runners assembled the bunny tried in vain to give the impression that she knew anything about the run, but she did know the direction, and pointed vaguely. So the pack ambled down the road, while we were buzzed by the passing traffic. The first to break into a trot were Drippy Dick and Wanchor. Soon followed by Money Manfred, Iceman, Oyster Licker and Good Year. After a short sojourn on the road, the trail veered to the left up a motor bike trail and then veered left again into the jungle. A slippery on up followed. Out into farming country and the trail leveled out. A very large very pink circle indicated a check, an almost unknown feature of Harriets runs, but welcome, until your scribe found himself off down the hill when the cries of on paper emanated from on up the hill. Struggling up the hill to rejoin the pack, the co-hare, Pukka Sahib appeared, but going in reverse (what s new) relaying paper, just in case the Harriets did not know what to do when coming across a check.

3 Burst by Iceman continued On up the hill the trail meandered, and back in the jungle a nice runners path lead us zig zagging, back to the run site. On this run there were no early entries to catch. Skippy had had an accident on Tuesday where he attempted to determine by self experimentation if Australians skulls really were as hard as coconuts, by smashing his head off a rock. I cannot say whether the result proved the point regarding coconuts, but his head is not as hard as a rock. Jungle Jill only checked the run location after it was too late to get there. Pimp s scooter failed to rise to the challenge of the distance from Tanjung Bungah. As for Chunla Sing (how to spell his name?) and Toddy Tan there was no sign. All the runners exited the trail in daylight the last being Silent James and Beauty Queen. Meanwhile the short-cutters lead by Eddie Punk had explored not even one metre of the run, but crossed the road for a meander up the hill on the other side, and show the guests the panorama of Penang. Later the red moon crept over the eastern hillside to shine its light on Harriets enjoying the bunny s delicious home cooked food and the good fellowship that surrounds the beer wagon. *** Next Week we are at Bukit Tambun for Polish Piper s run. 5 NOTICES 2018 AGM & Committee Elections All the club s female members are reminded that the AGM is only five weeks away and a new committee needs to be elected. So chat with your fellow Harriets and decide who amongst you wishes to be nominated for 2018 committee and to manage of your club. Note: None of the existing committee will be standing for re-election.

12 The Circle Welcome to Dr Kordok from Bandung Hash here on a visit.

13 The Circle An early charge from the floor by W Anchor put Silent Man on ice. The charge was really to make him speak since hardly anyone has heard his voice!! But he bested him by saying Cannot talk on the Ice!!! W Anchor sang the silent version of Swing Low in retort.

14 The Circle Another charge from the floor, this time by Goodyear, saw Pukka Sahib on ice. The indictment was when laying the trail Pukka Sahib used PINK paper for one of the checks. It was also so big a circle it looked like a landing zone for a Chopper.

15 The Circle Then it was Iceman s turn to give a charge and Black German hit the ice. Back in 2008 BG went to try and get Interhash to come to Penang. He designed a shirt that he gave out along the way trying to get votes. It didn t happen as it went to Perth instead. But low and behold one of the shirts made it full circle as our guest Hendi was wearing one!!!

16 The Circle It was Polish Piper s turn next on the ice. Last week the GM had mistakenly stated that this week s run was his at Bkt Tambun but it obviously was not. So she made amends by having PP give the directions for his run NEXT WEEK...or something like that she told me!!

17 The Circle The last icing for the evening was for the Bunny of the Day, Mem Sahib. Thank you for the delicious and colourful food, good run and an enjoyable evening.

18 Next Run *** Next Week we are at Bukit Tambun for Polish Piper s run. Please come and support him *** Bukit Tambun Runsite: Take the Bukit Tambun turning from the Expressway (coming from the First Penang Bridge). Go through the toll and turn right at the traffic lights. Follow the road and turn left at the next X- roads. Then turn right (100 M) and park by the School. Run commences at 6pm.
