1 Installing Fall Protection Void Formers. Please read carefully before fixing anchorage components into formwork May 2016

2 Installing moulds into the formwork. Scissorsafe Insert Moulds are cast into the concrete to create an anchorage point in concrete walls and decks to allow the entry and exit of the ScissorSafe Anchorage Tool. They can be placed into vertical, horizontal or inclined formwork surfaces, it is advisable to secure them to reinforcement bars if there is a risk that they will be displaced during construction. Planning Overhead Anchorage Positions for Fall Restraint or Fall Arrest Before installing Scissorsafe Void Formers into the formwork, carefully plan their positions depending on the work method to be employed, will the user be working in Fall Arrest connecting a self retracting lifeline between the Scissorsafe anchorage and harness or in Fall Restraint using Horizontal Lifelines or Running Lines as anchorage over distances up to 20 metres. The setting out positions for these applications differ, please refer to the following pages for positional advice. Avoid placing Void Formers too close to concrete edges or joints or into concrete thicknesses less than 170mm. Fixing Anchorage Void Formers to Formwork Before fixing this component please refer to setting out positions for Fall Arrest and Fall Restraint The minimum distance required from the edge of concrete is 150mm but If it is possible, place the inserts 1000mm from the leading edge to provide a safe distance to reach the anchorage point. Void Formers should be positioned at least 300mm apart. 1.- Nail or screw a Round Disc onto the inside face of wall formwork or on top of the decking material using a round-headed nail or 3mm x 25mm woodscrew 2.- Place a Tee Moulds over the discs and press until you it clicks into place. The perimeter rim of the mould will be in contact with the shutter face. When installing the mould horizontally onto columns, slabs or wall formwork it is recommended that the mould is wire tied to reinforcement steel to ensure it remains in position during the concrete pour. Direc?on of lifeline Void Formers should be fixed to the formwork with the long edge parallel to the direc?on of the lifeline 300mm maximum between void formers

3 Void Former Positions for Fall Arrest A Fall Arrest system provides maximum freedom of movement for workers to conduct their duties. In doing so it allows them to reach the point where a fall could occur, However, in the event of a fall, the fall will be arrested and so allow the person to be rescued. To minimise the risk of injury Anchorages should be positioned as vertically as possible above the intended work area in an arc no more than thirty degrees from vertical so as to prevent in the event of a fall the user from swinging dangerously to and fro. ( commonly known as Pendulum or Swing Fall ) Before installing Scissorsafe expendable insert moulds into the formwork, carefully plan their positions, avoiding placement too close to concrete edges or joints or into concrete thicknesses less than 170mm Component Key & Schedule Pt 1 SCS002 Scissorsafe Two Part Cast-In Former Pt 2 SCS003 Scissorsafe Anchorage Tool Pt 3 SCS050 Self Retracting Lifeline Pt 4 SCS020 Two Point Body Harness
