Good luck boys!! Some more good news as the First Team welcome back their batsmen/keeper Dilesh back from injury this week after four weeks out with a hand injury after passing a fitness test last night. Also Dominic comes back this week to his first league game after a year out after knee surgery and has been bowling well in the nets & is ready to return. So good luck to them both tomorrow! Gents, we also need your help on the ground whenever you can whether that maybe 20 mins sitting on the tractor cutting the grass, painting lines, tidying nets, clearing rubbish, rolling the wicket or cutting a hedge, whatever it might be it would be much appreciated if the Groundsmen could get some help now & again. Don t be shy now its everyones club!! Thanks guys!!!
First Team opening bowler Farhan Tanoli doing his bit by painting the boundary lines before the game & the legend that is Denis Gilgallon forever working on the ground!
Kevin our Chief Executive helping us out by cutting the outfield! Thanks Kevin!! MATCH REPORTS: First Team Toss: Wycombe House won the Toss and choose to bowl first Bessborough: 171 all out in 55 overs (Sohail 4-56) Wycombe House: (Savin 34*) Result: Wycombe House winning Draw 4 points On a cloudy morning where it was predicted to be lightening and showers it turned hot to be the hottest day of the summer!! It was Bessborough 1st against Wycombe House 3rd in a top of the table clash! Home skipper Alex won the toss and put Bessborough into bat and started with a flourish with the skipper and
Farhan Tanoli opening the bowling and taking two wickets a piece leaving the opposition 50-4 and they ripped through the top order but their number 3 battling through their pressure and putting on a pa rtnership of 90 for the 5 wicket which was vital for them at that point! In an incredibly hard day in the humid weather for the House fielders two vital catches we put down and that made a difference. Sohail Elahi the man in form came into the attack pick ing up four and his brother two and Bessborough were all out for 171. Wycombe House didn't get off to the greatest start losing both those opening bats in the first two overs and their number three to a loose shot at gulley shortly after! Mehboob & Faizaan were getting the home team back in the game with some lovely stroke play before two of their spinners removed both of them. House were in trouble at now 80-8 and in came Aamir Ahmed & Sohail Elahi and going for the winning draw of 140 now was going to be a tall order let alone the win. But these two had other ideas...they batted out nearly 25 overs together and under huge amounts of pressure from some tight fielding and hostile bowling and some great support from the rest of the club on the sidelines and showing the top 4 how to bat they grinded out for house to end up on off our 45 overs to achieve the winning draw and Bessborough were left gutted! Aamir - A very happy man after making an excellent First Team Debut! Second Team Toss: 2 s won the Toss and choose to bowl first Bessborough: off 46 overs Wycombe House: 135 all out off 27 overs Result: Lost No report
Third Team WHCC 3 s vs Alexandra Park 3 s Venue: Boston Manor Toss: Alexandra Park won the toss and elected to field first WHCC: in 43 Overs declared Alexandra Park: 53 All Out in 22.2 Overs Result: WHCC won by 165 runs (10 points) Man of the Match: - Ash Vyas Report: Contrary to all the weather warnings of heavy showers, the WHCC 3rd XI boys hosted their home game against Alexandra Park on what turned out to be one of the sunniest and warmest days of the summer. The home of 3rd XI Boston Manor was looking glorious under the blue skies, and the team was ready to take on their mid table rivals Alexandra Park in a very important fixture. A win would all but ensure top posiion in the league table. Skipper Vasi lost the toss and WHCC were put in to bat first. On a good dry wicket, the openers Janaka and Ash looked good and positive from the word go, taking on the bowlers with control and calculated aggression. The openers put on a 71 run opening partnership when Janaka was out caught. Ash continued the partnership with number 3 bat Gaurav who was very aggressive from the word go and put on 39 in quick time. Ash got cleaned up for a very fine 39, and Gaurav attemptin a shot too many got cleaned up for a very quick 39 as well. Vasi, Adnan Haq and the tail continued to score at a brisk rate and WHCC ended their innings on a very above par 218 in 43 overs. An aggressve declaration to allow WHCC 49 overs to bowl the opposition out. After teas, the boys went out to defend their total. Opening bowlers Vasi and Yahya bowled like they have been doing for weeks, Fantastic control, line, pace and aggression and they never let the Alexandra Park batsmen settle. Yahya struck first with a controversial LBW (the batsmen clearly had an inside edge, but their young umpire raised the finger much to the delight of the WHCC boys). The umpire however din't have to do much work the next ball, when Yahya delivered a perfect yorker first up to their number 3 batsmen to dismantle his middle stump. 2 in 2 balls for Yahya and WHCC defense is well under way. Vasi struck in the next over when the batsmen tried to clear mid off and was caught beautifully by veteran Janaka. Vasi then struck again and again and again and soon Alexandra Park were on Sachin came into bowl and straight away was amongst the wickets courtesy of a great catch by Adnan Haq at slip. Jesse was brought in from Vasi's end and he struck in his first ball when the batsmen mistimed a long hop and was caught at mid wicket. The last man came out and the e nd was very near. Sachin took the final honours of
cleaning up the Alexandra Park colt and WHCC 3s finished one of the most comprehensive wins of the season. Clinical performance with the bat, bowl and in the field. WHCC 3rd XI now sit at the top of the league table. Long may it continue!!! Congratulations to all involved.
4 th Eleven WHCC VS Glaxo 25 over match due to rain delay Glaxo: off 25 overs WHCC: off 25 overs I like what we re doing with having the 4s it's a good tool to help us progress and help the competitive teams find players that they can use. I am ready to captain Whenever and would like a fixture for next week if possible! The players that performed well today and I would like them to be considered for selection. If possible Prince, Ash, Sukhmanm, Blake, Dom. All of the above played well in all aspects of the game. Ash bowled a good spell nice Line and length. Dom bowled well kept it tight had 3/4 dropped catches and a blatant edge not given. Blake bowled extremely well picked up 2 wickets and was unfortunately run out by HJ. Sukhman Batted and kept very well needs a bit of help with stumpings but otherwise good behind the stumps batted very well kept up with the pace if the game and gave no chances. Prince Bowled well did not go for many and did not spray all over the gaff, and batted well no silly shots and tight defence scored a few runs looking comfortable. Mazhar spanked it around got 43 but was dropped twice. That is my view on the game & I would say all of my selections would be value for the 3s. Not 2s as yet but I would say some of the 3s players need to step up to the 2s as it's not working up there at the moment. Speak soon Karl Sylvester Sunday 1 st Team - Bharat Olympians vs W HCC League Game Venue: MET Police Ground Toss: Bharat won the toss and chose to bat first Bharat: 220 in 40 overs (Sos 5-35) WHCC: 155-all out Result: Bharat won by 65 runs Not a good day at the office for the Sunday League side. It started with people turning up late for the meet time because they were either sleeping or having breakfast with their wife when they should have been at ground to leave. So preparation was not good especially as some of these playe rs need to do a lot more to impress. They won the toss and decided to have a bat on a lovely batting wicket. Alex & Ash opened the bowling and didn t get off to the best start until Ash bowled an absolute jaffer and get their batsmen caught behind! They were a very decent team they batted well and didn t give any chances away in the first 25 overs. Jess and Karan came into the attack Jess with the spinner picking up one wicket & Karan bowling in decent areas without much luck. Mad, crazy, eccentric, loud, Yahya comes into the attack and want to bounce all of them out but with no joy but with some crazy over throws in his fielding to add. Bilal (seamer) comes in and bowls a very tidy spell to really drop their run rate eventhough one of their guys batted really well score 91. But Alex came back with a hostile spell of bowling & picked up a five-fer & they end up on 220. Batting wise we got off to a good start with Bilal (seamer) and Mazhar starting really positivekly and had opening partnership of 60 odd until Mazhar gets caught behind shortly after Bial gets run out by AB with a terrible call that went straight to the fielder and then we never really got up with the run rate, pressure came with Alex & Hanif falling for not many runs, but Jess came in hit a few boundaries but not much else to report on the batting front unfortunately. Not a good day & they thoroughly deserved to beat us as they beat us in all three departments.
Sunday - MDL Wycombe House v Ealing Venue: HOME Toss: WHCC won the toss and chose to field first Ealing: 218 off 38 overs WHCC: Result: WHCC Losing Draw (Middlesex Development Under -21 League) On a bright sunny day, Whcc players alighted at their home ground on jersey road to face Ealing, whcc won the toss headed by Marcus elected to field first, Anil opened the bowling with Sachin and were looking fierce with the pace, swing and bounce that they were generating but Ealing played them with ease and gave a fantastic start to the game, scoring quick runs and by drinks they were 150/1 within 20 overs. The skipper than decided to bring on M.Elahi (The spin king) who quickly got rid of the 2 set batsman and a bit of panic was seen within the Ealing camp, Wycombe house than geared up and bowled line and length to restrict Ealing for 218 off 38 overs. After the lunch break, Whcc came into bat with young Aman opening the batting with M.Elahi who looked patient and try to get the shine off the ball as quickly as they can, aman was unlucky to get out on a very good ball but then M.elahi and Marcus carried on the innings who played a few big sixes round the park and suddenly WHCC were at 80/1 in 20 overs, with considering win the only option to qualify for the next stage of MDL, few quick wkts in succession and WHCC were 100/5 in 27 overs. At this time we had 2 experience players batting Vasi and Bilal who played spin really well, Vasi hit a few big sixes and then played a rash shot and lost his wicket, Bilal was followed in the next over, with tail left at least to get a draw will be a good result. Sachin and Anil battle with raw pace and saw away the seamers to get WHCC a losing draw. Not a bad day at the house, but unfortunately the other results didn t go in our favour which means this is the end of the road for MDL in 2014, we played well fought hard and finished 3 rd in the table with 22 points. Player of the week This weeks player of the week goes to Sohail again for taking 4 wkts & 34* for the First Team!!
