3 2018 Multidisability Lawn Bowls National Championships Written by Theresa Emberton for the SA Wombats team (Disability Recreation and Sport SA) Our South Australian Multidisability bowls team has returned after another very successful National Championships. The National Championships was played over 6 days at the Kardinya Bowling Club WA and consisted of Open Triples, B5/6 and B7/8 Pairs and Singles. There was a high standard of competition played and some good friendships made. As always it was a very tough competition with QLD, NSW, TAS, and WA all having bowlers representing their states. South Australia was well represented by Barry Charity (Clearview), Mike Emberton (Edwardstown), Chris Flavel (Payneham), Steve Quinn (Hope Valley), Darryl Wilson (Tranmere) and Phil Plackett (NSW) State Development Squad Annouced Bowls SA in conjunction with the State Selection Panel are pleased to announce the selected Development Squads for the season, as well as the appointed coaches. The men's and women's development squads can be viewed in full here. Congratulations to all selected! The State Squad for will be finalised in August following the Mildura series. First up was the Open Triples and this was hard fought by both SA teams with our composite team of Barry Charity, Mike Emberton and Joe Davey (WA) taking out the Bronze medal. The pairs and singles finals were all played on the Friday with the event having to be moved to a new location due to inclement weather. The B7/8 Pairs of Chris Flavel and Steve Quinn played off for the Bronze medal and came up against tough competition and came in 4th. The B5/6 Pairs of Darryl Wilson and Phil Plackett had a very hard fought game with it coming down to the last end and the very last bowl for SA to come away with the GOLD medal. The B5/6 Singles was represented by Phil Plackett playing for the Bronze medal. This was a lengthy game and Phil finished with the Bronze Medal. The B7/8 Singles was represented by Chris Flavel who played in the gold medal game. It was a very tough game with Chris finishing with the Clarence Gardens Require and The Clarence Gardens Bowling Club requires a paid for 2018 and beyond. We seek a qualified to coach at all levels. Remunerations will be based on qualifications and experience which is negotiable.

4 Silver Medal. Our SA team should be very proud of themselves and their achievements as I am sure we are all very proud of their achievements and the manner in which they have represented SA in these Championships. The we seek should have the ability to work alongside our Club Captain and coordinate structured practice each week prior to and throughout the pennant season. Our focus is on the development of players skills and overall on-green performance. We also require current bowlers who would like a change from their present Club and would enjoy a friendly social environment. To join Clarence Gardens this year, the fees are at the Club s expense, plus we also supply you with a new shirt. Bowls Needed Blackwood Bowling Club (BBC) is a member orientated club with about 100 bowlers. The BBC is currently seeking an experienced Bowls for the 2018/19 season and beyond. The will continue to build a strong Club by improving the bowling performance of sides and individuals, while maintaining an inclusive and fun atmosphere. We offer all year round synthetic carpet green which enables the Club to play Social Bowls throughout winter and we are able to rest our couch greens when winter sets in.
