Australian Golf Croquet Men s Singles Championship Friday 8 Monday September. Australian Golf Croquet Women s Singles Championship - Friday 8 Monday September. WCF Interstate Shield - Wednesday Sunday 7 September. Travel Day There is no play on Tuesday September, which is a travel day, to allow the Men to move from Hobart to Launceston for the ISS. Registration/Welcome Function/Gold Medal Presentation Registration for the Women s Singles is Thursday 7 September from pm, at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre (NTCC). The Welcome Function (High Tea) is also there at -5:0 pm, along with a briefing on the Tournament conditions and refereeing at 5pm. Please pay for the Welcome Function ($0 pp) at registration if you haven t already; along with (previously ordered) tournament shirts - some extra shirts may still be available then. Registration for the Men s Singles is Thursday 7 September from pm at Sandy Bay CC (Men s Event HQ). There will be a briefing on the Tournament conditions and refereeing at :0pm. Please pay for and/or pick up (previously ordered) tournament shirts - some shirts may still be available. The Welcome Function (including presentation of the GC Gold, Silver & Bronze Medals) is at Government House at 6-7pm. There is no charge for this, but you will need to have registered, and then accepted your personal invitation, to attend. State Teams Presentation/Women s Singles Presentation Launceston Town Hall, 5.0-6:0pm Tuesday Sept (no charge drinks & snacks will be provided). The Mayor will present the Women s Singles winners, and then State Captains will introduce their State ISS Teams. Please confirm at registration on 7 Sept that you are still attending. Practice Sessions Thursday 7 September from -pm at each Singles venue. There will be limited ISS practice on Tuesday Sept, subject to travel & ground keeping. Referee s Meeting Tuesday September :0 pm at NTCC (then briefing to players at :0pm). ISS Presentation Dinner Sunday, 7 September at the Best Western Hotel, Earl St, Launceston 6.0pm for 7pm. Please pay for this Function on Sept at ISS registration - additional tickets may be available ($5 pp). Please mention if you are vegetarian. Catering Tea/coffee is available for players all day free of charge. Lunch & drinks (plus tea & coffee for non-players) are also available for purchase at each venue. Slices, fruit & cake may also be available for purchase at some venues.

4 AUSTRALIAN GOLF CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIPS Hobart & Launceston, Tasmania GOLD & SILVER MEDALS, MEN S & WOMEN S SINGLES and WCF INTERSTATE SHIELD 5 7 SEPTEMBER 05 STANDARD CONDITIONS OF PLAY FOR ACA GOLF CROQUET EVENTS. All events will be played under the WCF Rules of Golf Croquet adopted by Croquet Australia, and the Australian Tournament Regulations (available on the ACA website).. The Australian Handicapping System is in force for this Tournament, and entrants are to have a current Golf Croquet handicap. A handicap may be assigned by the Tournament Manager in terms of the Appendix to the Rules of Golf Croquet.. Players are to ensure that they have their ACA Handicap Cards with them to present to the Tournament Manager or his representative before each event commences. Handicap cards should be completed after each match. If players reach a trigger point their handicap changes immediately after that game.. All competitors who have not already provided an address, telephone number or address at which messages can reach them during the events should provide this information during registration. 5. Courts will be available for practice each day until 5 minutes before start times, and after the completion of play for the day, subject to requirements for dressing courts and maintenance. The Tournament Manager s approval should be sought for such practice, and players assistance in preparing and clearing lawns will ensure that this practice can continue. 6. Hoops are to be set as near as possible to /6 inches. To allow for inaccuracies in gauges, balls, hoops and setting techniques, a tolerance of ± / inch is allowed. Players are asked to help set the hoops at the start of the day if necessary. 7. Hoops may be checked at any time on the request of the player in play. Any hoop out of specification will be reset. If a player suspects that the outcome of a stroke he has just played was affected by a ball touching both uprights of a hoop simultaneously, he is entitled to have the equipment checked and, if necessary, adjusted or replaced. If it is found that the ball does touch both uprights of that hoop on some axis, he may elect to replay the stroke, unless his turn has ended for another reason 8. Dawson International balls will be used. 9. Court allocations may be changed by the Tournament Manager and games may be double banked. 0. There will be a Referee at each court to act as required. Where there are not sufficient referees present to be in charge of each game, referees will be supervisory.. Players attention is drawn to Rule of the WCF Golf Croquet Rules regarding Etiquette, which also covers expedition in play, and to Tournament Regulation - concerning responsibilities of players.. All games will be un-timed. However, the Tournament Manager may impose a time limit if necessary.

5 . Players are to wear neat and appropriate sporting attire and flat-soled shoes (ie shoes, the soles of which do not mark the court). Players choosing to wear sandals shall, as all players should, be conscious of surrounding play in order to ensure their own safety. A player presenting at the venue in unsuitable attire will be given the opportunity to dress appropriately or will not be permitted to participate in the event.. Players are allowed a break of up to 5 minutes between matches and a lunch break of up to 0 minutes, but such breaks can be waived by mutual agreement of the players. No break is allowed between games in multiple game matches - games should be seamless and players are expected to commence play in the second and third games immediately after the completion of the previous game. The Tournament Manager will ensure games go on expeditiously to enable completion of the scheduled program. 5. Players must inform the Tournament Manager if they wish to leave the Tournament Venue for any reason. 6. The Tournament Manager decides whether play in any match should continue if the weather is deteriorating. 7. The Tournament Manager in consultation with the Board of Croquet Australia may alter the program, draw and other arrangements as are necessary in order to complete the tournament in the time available. If available, lights may be used at the Tournament or Venue Manager s discretion. 8. An appeals committee as per ACA Tournament Regulations shall determine any matters that are in dispute during the course of the tournament. 9. Should an overseas player win an event, the perpetual trophy shall remain in Australia in the custody of ACA. All winners of trophies are requested to obtain a quote for the cost of appropriate engraving and obtain approval re that quote from the Administrative Officer of ACA before proceeding. SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF PLAY IN 05 Tournament Headquarters is at: Sandy Bay Croquet Club for the Gold & Silver Medals, and the Men s Singles; Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre for the Women s Singles & the InterState Shield (ISS). Please check the individual events for your venues. Matches will commence at 0900 during the Gold Medal on 5-7 Sept, but otherwise shall commence at 0800 sharp unless otherwise indicated. Players are asked to be at their designated court before the scheduled starting time. This Program is available on the ACA website, plus a hard copy for each player is available if required at Registration for your event(s). 5

7 AUSTRALIAN GOLD AND SILVER GOLF CROQUET MEDALS Played Tuesday 5 Thursday 7 September 05. Each player shall play each other player once in a best of three match playing point games. Players are seeded by the latest available GC World Ranking List at August 05.. Any competitor withdrawing, or forfeiting more than one match, shall be scratched from the competition and scores for and against shall be deleted from the tournament results. Completed games still count for AHS & world ranking purposes.. Positions shall be determined in accordance with the ACA Tournament Regulation 0.5 except that ties will be resolved by play-off. The winner of this event will receive the Australian Golf Croquet Gold Medal and the second placed player will receive the Australian Golf Croquet Silver Medal. The other four state winners will be presented with their Australian Golf Croquet Bronze Medals. All games to be played at Sandy Bay CC These are not court allocations, which will be allocated by the TM. The Draw was conducted by the ACA Tournament Committee, with help from ACA Events & GC Selection Committees, using the ACA Draw procedures. Players are seeded by the ACA GC Selection Committee, partly based on GC World Ranking List at August 05.. Days & is blocks, each playing a single round robin of a 9 point game against each other player in the block.. Players finishing - in each block will qualify for the Knockout, which will be announced as early as possible following completion of all block games. Places will be decided by blocks games won, with a single game play-off between players on the same block wins.. The remaining players may proceed to the Plate Event. The Knockout 5. The knockout will be conducted in rounds, with initial matches as best of three point games, but with the semi-finals & final as best of five point games if time permits. 6. Rounds & will be played at New Town CC & Kingston CC on Sunday (Day ). 7. Round (Semi-Finals) will be played at Sandy Bay on Monday morning (Day ). 8. 12 WCF Interstate Shield for Golf Croquet Teams (-7 Sept 05). On the day scheduled for any Test: i. The names of the players, including doubles pairings, shall be notified by each Captain, Vice Captain or Team Manager to the Tournament Manager or Venue Manager at least 0 minutes before the commencement of each Test. In each Test four men players and four women players must be selected to play singles but the players selected to play doubles can be different members of the team from those playing singles. The order of play for singles matches shall be in accordance with the World Ranking List at August 05, which was that used for the Gold Medal and Men s & Women s seedings. teams are not required to conform to world rankings; ii. Individual members of teams may be varied for each separate Test. Apart from the arrangements permitted under clause, individual members of a team may not be varied during a Test, unless a player is incapacitated by sickness or accident (but not for a pre-existing illness or condition). In such event, a reserve player may fill his or her place in the team for any match not already commenced, except for the second round of singles. Such substitution must be reported to the Captain of the opposing team and be sanctioned by the Venue Manager in consultation with the Tournament Referee. The second round of singles must be played with the same players who played in the first round of singles of that Test. If a player is not available for the start of their second singles match in a Test, then a forfeit will be awarded (score 7-0, 7-0). If a match is started but is unable to be completed, it will be conceded (the score recorded as 7 to the winner and the score to the opponent as at the time of concession).. Each team is entitled to nominate one or more players, any of whom may, prior to the commencement of the Test, act as a substitute for a player. If the occasion arises that no substitute is readily available, a reasonable time shall be allowed to obtain a substitute, and the Team Schedule shall be adjusted accordingly. If the team concerned is unable to nominate a substitute within the given time, the match for that player shall be forfeited (7-0, 7-0).. Each team will play every other team once. A Test comprises twenty matches: mixed doubles and 6 singles. doubles shall be played first then the singles, women versus women and men versus men. In the, States may pair any male and female player together and then determine which of their four pairs are to be,,, and. Matches, each of two -point games, shall be played in the following order: Court :, MA v MB, WA v WB, MA v MB, WA v WB. Court :, WA v WB, MA v MB, WA v WB, MA v MB. Court :, MA v MB, WA v WB, MA v MB, WA v WB. Court :, WA v WB, MA v MB, WA v WB, MA v MB.. Team Captains will toss before each Test to determine which State plays as A and which plays as B. 5. To ensure that each side starts one of the two games in each match, Rule 5(c) is varied and the side that lost the toss for the first game will start first in the second game, using either of their partner balls, regardless of who won the first game. 6. As a trial (0, 0 & 05), there will be a time limit of hours to complete each match (ie games). On the bell, players will finish the current hoop. If hoops not tied, declare a winner for that game. If then tied on hoops in that game, play a further hoop to decide the game. 7. Should a team be unable to complete all Tests, scores for and against that team will be deleted from the results. 8. The team that wins the most matches wins the Test, but:. if matches are equal, the team that wins most net games;. if scores are still equal, the team that wins most net points;. if scores are still equal, the Test shall be a tie and each team shall score half (/) a Test point.. a team winning the Test shall score one () Test point. 9. The winner of the Interstate Shield is the State Team scoring the greatest number of Tests, but:. If Test points are equal, the team that wins the most net matches in all Tests;. if net matches are equal, the greatest number of net games in all Tests;. if net games are equal, the greatest number of net points in all Tests;. if net points are equal, the winner of the Test between the teams. If this Test was tied, the trophy shall be shared by both State teams. 0. The Tournament Manager is authorised to make decisions to vary the conditions of play as required; and in particular to ensure that as far as possible, each Interstate Shield Test is completed in one day.
