3 GENERAL INFORMATION CATEGORIES: The following Categories are to be held: - CanSkate Elements - Super Stars Creative Improv - CanSkate Program - Creative Stars Individual Showcase - Little Stars CanSkate Team Event - StarStruck Group Showcase - Shimmering Stars Spin Spiral Jump Team Even - Shooting Stars Jump Event - Sizzling Stars Spin Event FEES: Individual Events: $40 for first event, $30 for additional events Team Events/Group Showcase: $40 per team/group Entries: Entrants in Events shall be: a) Eligible persons as defined in Skate Canada Rule Book Section 2100 b) Be Associate members in good standing of the Association. All event entries will be accepted only from skaters who are members of affiliated Skate Canada clubs. *Registration forms MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL or they may not be processed! CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIES: All entries must be postmarked no later than December 31, In the event of a postal disruption it is the responsibility of the skater to ensure that their entry is in to the Host Committee Registration person by the closing date, at their own expense. ed entries accepted. There will be a $25 late fee for any entries after December 31, 2018 REFUND OF ENTRY FEES: NO refunds will be made after the closing date. Entry fees shall be refunded only if the event is not held. REGISTRATION: Skaters must register at least one hour prior to their scheduled Category or practice. Skaters must report to the Ice Captain one hour prior to their scheduled Category. A properly labeled club ipod is preferred or 2 copies of music CD s must be registered. SCHEDULE AND CANCELLATION OF EVENTS: The host club reserves the right to cancel events or limit the number of entries due to time constraints or ice availability. WARM UP TIMES: Skate Canada has standardized warm up times for all events. Warm up times for all CanSkate events will be 3 minutes. ACCIDENTS: The Association and Committee of the Host Club undertake no responsibility for damages or injuries suffered by the skater. As a condition of and in consideration of their entries in these Events, all skaters and their parents or guardians shall be deemed to agree to assume all risks or injuries to the skater s person and property resulting from, or caused by, or connected with the conduct and management of the events. An agreement must also be deemed to release any and all claims they may have against the officials, the Association, the Host Club, and their officers. Entries shall be accepted only in accordance with these conditions.

4 CANSKATE ELEMENTS EVENT Elements are to be skated as elements in isolation. *Note that skills are integrated. So if a skater has passed Stage 1 they would enter in Stage 2. Stage 1: Snow Slide Steps Fwd Push/Glide Sequence 2 ft Jump Bwd 2 ft Skating/walking Stage 2: Fwd Stop Fwd 2 ft Sculling Fwd 2 ft Turn (CW or CCW skater s choice) Bwd 2 ft Sit Glide Stage 3: Fwd Circle Thrusts (CW or CCW skater s choice) Bwd 2 ft Jump 2 ft Quick Turn Fwd Bwd and Bwd Fwd (CW or CCW skater s choice) Bwd 2 ft Sculling Stage 4: Bwd Circle Thrusts (CW or CCW - skater s choice) Bwd 360 degree Step Turn (CW or CCW - skater s choice) 2 ft Jump Fwd Bwd and Bwd Fwd (CW or CCW - Skater s choice) Fwd Inside Slalom Stage 5: Fwd 2-ft Side Stop (CW or CCW - skater s choice) Bwd Push/Glide Sequence, Full Perimeter (CW or CCW - Skater s choice) Fwd Power Jump Fwd Crosscuts - Figure-8 Stage 6: Fwd 1-ft Side Stop (L or R - skater s choice) Bwd Perimeter Skating with Crosscuts (CW or CCW - determined by draw) Fwd 180 Step Turn (Mohawk) (RFI-LBI or LFI-RBI - Skater s choice) Fwd Outside Edges

5 CANSKATE PROGRAM The program will be skated to music provided by the host club, and will be skated on ½ ice. Program requirements are the same as the elements portion. Connecting steps may be included, as well as beginning and ending poses. Program length may not exceed one minute. *NO HIGHER JUMP OF ONE OR MORE REVOLUTIONS MAY BE INCLUDED LITTLE STARS CANSKATE TEAM EVENT Each team will consist of three or four members. Each member will perform one element in isolation. Please fill out a separate registration form for the team event. Little Stars CanSkate Team: OPTION A (Stage 1/2): Forward Push/Glide Sequence Forward 2 ft Jump Forward 2 ft Sculling Backward 2ft Sit Glide Little Stars CanSkate Team: OPTION B (Stage 3/4): Forward Circle Thrusts Backward 2 ft Jump Backward Circle Thrusts Forward Inside Slalom Little Stars CanSkate Team: OPTION C (Stage 5/6): Forward Power Jump Forward Figure 8 Crosscuts Forward 1ft Side Stop Forward Outside Edges

6 SHIMMERING STARS SPIN, SPIRAL JUMP TEAM EVENTS Each team will consist of three or four members. Each member will perform one element in isolation. Please fill out a separate registration form for the team event. SHIMMERING STARS SPIN SPIRAL JUMP TEAM: OPTION A TESTS: Participants must not have passed any portion of the complete Preliminary freeskate test or equivalent Star Level (Star 2/3) 1. Any upright spin 2. Spiral 3. Waltz Jump 4. Crosscuts (skaters choice of direction) SHIMMERING STARS SPIN SPIRAL JUMP TEAM: OPTION B TESTS: Participants must not have passed any portion of the complete Preliminary freeskate test or equivalent Star Level (Star 2/3) 1. Back Spin 2. Toe Loop 3. Loop Jump 4. One spiral on each foot in sequence with a maximum of four steps in between. SUPER STAR CREATIVE IMPROV Skaters will hear a piece of music selected by the host club twice in warm-up. They will perform a creative routine on the ice to the music selection. Program length should not exceed one (1:30) minute. Skaters must have passed Stage 6 Canskate Skaters will be categorized by age and level CREATIVE STARS INDIVIDUAL SHOWCASE: Showcase programs will have skaters who perform a program that focuses on the skater s ability to entertain an audience through the use of theatrics or artistic abilities. Programs may tell a story, create a mood or have an obvious theme. Costumes and props are permitted within the restrictions (Feathers or Boas of any type are not permitted, as well as any prop that poses a safety risk) *Vocal music is permitted Skaters must not have passed Introductory Interpretive Program length not to exceed 2:00

7 STARSTRUCK GROUP SHOWCASE EVENT: Showcase programs will have 2-6 skaters who will perform a program that focuses on the skater s ability to entertain an audience through the use of theatrics or artistic abilities. Programs may tell a story, create a mood or have an obvious theme. Costumes and props are permitted within the restrictions (Feathers or Boas of any type are not permitted, as well as any prop that poses a safety risk) *Vocal music is permitted * Program should not resemble a Synchro Skating Program. Use of team formations and maneuvers should be limited *Lifts and throws of any kind are not permitted. *Please fill out a separate registration form for the showcase event. Groups will be categorized by level. Program Length not to exceed 3:00 minutes SHOOTING STARS JUMP EVENT Individual jump event. Each skater will perform 3 jumps and one jump combination. Jumps will be performed in isolation and skaters will take turns within their group. Skaters must have passed Stage 6 Canskate but must not have passed any portion of the complete Preliminary freeskate test or equivalent Star Level (Star 2/3) Option A: Option B: Waltz Jump Salchow Toe Loop Waltz Jump/Toe Loop Combination Salchow Loop Jump Flip Jump Loop/Loop Combination SIZZLING STARS SPIN EVENT Individual spin event. Each skater will perform 4 spins. Spins will be performed in isolation and skaters will take turns within their group. Skaters must have passed Stage 6 Canskate but must not have passed any portion of the complete Preliminary freeskate test or equivalent Star Level (Star 2/3) Option A: Option B: Two foot forward upright Spin One Foot forward upright Spin Back Spin Sit Spin or Camel Spin Back Spin Sit Spin Camel Spin One foot upright spin/back spin Combo
