2 The 2015 Albuquerque CooLLoop Open will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates which have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website. This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and is a currently registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non-u.s. Citizens. ELIGIBILITY/TEST LEVEL: Test level: Competition level is the highest test passed as of the June 8,, 2015 entry deadline in the discipline the skater is entering. Entrants may skate one level above that for which they qualify, but they may not skate down in any event. Skaters who have not previously tested may compete at the Pre-Preliminary / Pre-Bronze level. Skaters who placed in the top four in a final round of their last qualifying competition in their divisions must move up one level. Age restrictions/requirements: Skaters entering the juvenile free skate event must be under 14 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering the open juvenile free skate event must be at least 14 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering the intermediate free skate event must be under 18 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering the special open intermediate free skate event (page 13) must be at least 18 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering preliminary pre-juvenile events will be divided as closely as possible by age should the number of entries warrant more than one group. ENTRIES: Competition entries must be postmarked by June 8, We will not accept entries that require signature for delivery. Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Referee and the Competition Committee and only if accompanied by a $30 late fee. The Competition Committee reserves the right to limit entries in any event or to cancel any event due to time restrictions. The Practice Ice and Competition schedule will be posted as soon as each is available on our website at and on the AFSC bulletin board at Outpost Ice Arena. REFUND POLICY: Entry fees will not be refunded after June 8, 2015 unless no competition exists or an event entered is canceled. Two entries will constitute an event. 3 and may elect to perform an exhibition or skate with no competition for an automatic first place in the event without refund or have the event cancelled with refund. For purposes of this paragraph, skating with no competition or an exhibition skated pursuant to a skater s choice if there are no other entries will also constitute an event. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals. A service charge of $30.00 will be added to any returned checks. Payment by money order or cash covering fees and service charge will be before the skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or events. FACILITIES: The competition will be held at the Outpost Ice Arena, 9530 Tramway Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM, Outpost Ice Arena has two indoor ice surfaces measuring 85' x 196' with rounded corners and two connecting ice surfaces measuring approximately 30 x 128. A snack bar and pro shop will be available. Spectator seating is also available, and no admission will be charged. MUSIC: All Freeskate and Showcase competitors must provide their own music on a CD-R. Tapes and CD-RW will not be accepted. CDs must be plainly marked with the competitor's name and event. Only one track may be recorded. The official competition music must be turned in at the registration table at the time of check-in. A duplicate CD should be readily available. Music may be picked up at the registration table following each event. Every reasonable care will be taken, but the Albuquerque Figure Skating Club cannot be responsible for CDs left at the end of the competition. LIABILITY: U.S. Figure Skating, the Albuquerque Figure Skating Club and the Outpost Ice Arena accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook. JUDGING SYSTEM: The 6.0 Majority Judging System will be used for all events. REGISTRATION: The registration table will be open in the lobby of the Outpost Ice Arena Friday evening, July 24 th and prior to the beginning of the events on Saturday, July 25 th. Specific times will be provided with your notification of event and practice ice times. Please register promptly upon arrival. PRACTICE ICE: Practice ice will be available Saturday morning, July 25 th, prior to the competition. Practice ice will cost $12.00 for each 20-minute session. See Registration form for more information. We cannot guarantee that practice ice will be on the same ice surface as the skater s event. For skaters wishing to practice on Friday, July 24 th, there will be a regularly scheduled afternoon contract session offered by the Outpost Ice Arena. Practice ice fees will not be refunded after June 8, 2015 unless an event entered is canceled. Music will not be played on practice ice. PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY: Personal cameras will be permitted in the awards area and bleachers only and may not be plugged into arena outlets. Flash photography is permitted in the awards area only. No flash photography is permitted in the arena. AWARDS: Awards will be made as soon as possible after the conclusion of each event. Medals will be given to the top 4 skaters in each event. OFFICIAL NOTICES: An official bulletin board will be maintained in the Outpost Ice Arena lobby. It is the responsibility of each competitor, parent and coach to check the bulletin board frequently for any schedule changes and/or additional information. Skaters are requested to arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time of their event. A tentative schedule of events will be posted prior to the competition. INFORMATION REGARDING COACHES: U.S. Figure Skating Rule MR 5.11 Coach Compliance In order to be granted access to work within U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned activities, each coach must complete the following requirements on an annual basis by July 1: A. Must be a current full member of U.S. Figure Skating - either through a member club or as an individual member; This event is a standard U.S. Figure Skating Nonqualifying Competition Page 2

Must complete the coach registration process through the U.S. Figure Skating Members Only site, submit proper payment for the annual registration fee of $30 and, if 18 years of age or older, successfully pass the background screen. C. Must complete the appropriate CER courses (A,B, C or D) depending on the highest level of students being coached as of July 1. See rule MR D. Must submit proof of current general liability insurance with limits of $1 million per occurrence/$5 million aggregate. For Basic Skills ONLY coaches - Any person, 18 and older, instructing in a U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Program must have successfully passed the annual background screen and be registered as a Basic Skills instructor member. The local organizing committee/club will have a list of compliant coaches who are cleared for a credential at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential no exceptions. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them. Non-credentialed coaches will not be permitted in the designated coaching area at rink side during events including practice sessions. Coaching at U.S. Figure Skating events without compliance is an ethics violation which is reported to U.S. Figure Skating and PSA. Vocal music is permitted at all levels. 2. Level will be determined by the highest free skate test passed. Skaters may compete at the highest level they have passed, or skate up to one level higher. 3. Minimum number of spin revolutions are in parentheses following the spin description. SPECIAL EVENTS OPEN INTERMEDIATE EVENTS The following open intermediate events will be offered as special events of the 2015 Albuquerque CooLLoop Open: Open intermediate well-balanced program free skate, short program, compulsory moves, jumps challenge, and spins challenge. Program requirements are the same as the intermediate well-balanced program free skate on page 6, the intermediate short program event on page 8, the intermediate compulsory moves event on page 9, the intermediate jumps challenge event on page 10, and the intermediate spins challenge event on page 11. Skaters in the open intermediate special events and must be at least 18 years of age and have passed at least the juvenile free skate test and no higher than the intermediate free skate test. 15 JUVENILE AND OPEN JUVENILE SHORT PROGRAM EVENTS Juvenile and open juvenile short programs will be offered as special events of the 2015 Albuquerque CooLLoop Open. The juvenile and open juvenile short program events will consist of the program requirements for the intermediate short program as specified in Rule Age and test requirements are the same as the juvenile and open juvenile free skate event, as specified on page 1. ADULT TEAM COMPULSORY MOVES Adult team compulsory moves will be offered as special events of the 2015 Albuquerque CooLLoop Open. Events in this category consist of four elements skated by teams of two skaters of the same gender. Skaters will be judged as a team. A team may consist of a low level and a high level skater, in which case the team must compete at the high level. Both skaters must be at least 21 years of age. Events will be conducted as follows: Skaters in each team will enter the ice together when introduced. One skater will take his or her beginning position on the ice while the partner takes an unobtrusive, safe position by the boards. At the signal to begin, the first skater will skate any two of the elements and will then skate to the entrance gate. As the first skater returns to the entrance gate, the second skater will skate into the view of the judges and perform the remaining two elements without waiting for a signal to begin. Each skater may join his or her elements with appropriate connecting steps, but connecting steps will not affect the team s score. When the final element is concluded, the first skater will join his or partner, and the skaters will exit the ice together. Skaters may not coach, cheer, or communicate with each other once they have been given the signal to begin. Additionally, the second skater may not practice or walk through elements while on the ice waiting to skate. Any of the foregoing conduct will be cause for disqualification of the team. All events will be skated on half ice with no music. Maximum time from the signal to begin until the conclusion of the final element is 1:30. LEVEL Low (Pre-Bronze test level: Rule 4600 or no test passed) High (Bronze, silver, and gold test levels: Rule 4570, 4580, or 4590) REQUIREMENTS Waltz jump; single toe loop; forward upright one or two foot spin (min. 3 revolutions.); forward spiral (may be on a flat without penalty). Single loop; jump combination consisting of two single jumps, one of which must be a toe loop (Axels not permitted); forward sit spin (min. 4 revolutions.); layback or attitude spin (min. 4 revolutions.). ADULT SHOWCASE PRE-BRONZE EVENT An adult showcase pre-bronze event will be offered as a special event of the 2015 Albuquerque CooLLoop Open. Skaters in this event must be at least 21 years and must meet the requirements for the adult pre-bronze free skate event or have passed the complete preliminary dance test and must not have passed any bronze dance. Maximum duration of programs in this event is 1:40. General rules and requirements applicable to all levels, as stated on page 12, apply to this event.
