2 Dear Club President, Attached is the Announcement Package for the 2005 BMO Financial Group Skate Canada Sectionals - Newfoundland and Labrador to be held, November 12 th and 13 th (Friday and Saturday) at the Glacier, Mount Pearl. Please copy and distribute complete package to all qualified skaters and coaches in your club. Enclosed are: Announcement Information Hotel Information Diagram Glacier Summary Sheet to accompany Entry and Pre-order forms Picture Order Form Banquet Order Form Skater Entry Forms (4a-4e) Parents must ensure all information is fully completed with photos. Cheques should be made payable to Mount Pearl Skating Club. Entries must be returned by Express Post and must be received by the host club on or before September 30 th, Incomplete forms will be returned, possibly causing a late fee or ineligibility. A schedule of events will be forwarded as soon as possible following the receipt of all applications. 3 Announcement Information 1. The Entry Fee for the Championships will be $77.00 per event (including officials development fee) and be mailed with the completed Entry Form. Cheques should be made payable to Mount Pearl Skating Club. At the discretion of the Championship Committee, fees for late entries will be increased to $ Juvenile to Senior categories must complete the attached official Skate Canada Form (4a-e). Preliminary and Pre-Juvenile must complete the attached Newfoundland and Labrador Sectional Entry Form. Entries are to be forwarded to: Bernadette O Neill-Whelan Mount Pearl Skating Club P.O Box 532 Mount Pearl, NL A1N 2W4 All entry forms must be received no later than Sept. 30 th, No entry shall be accepted within 48 hours of the starting time of the first event of the competition -- Rule 5108 (d). If entering more than one event, please submit individual applications. 3. A photo must accompany the entry. If possible this photo should be wallet size. 4. The following levels for this competition are: a) Senior b) Junior c) Novice d) Pre-Novice e) Juvenile f) Pre-Juvenile g) Preliminary 5. All eligibilities as per Skate Canada Rule Book or Skate Canada Newfoundland & Labrador Eligibilities. For this year (on a trial basis), the Preliminary Single Categories have been included in Sectionals. Skaters must have passed the complete Preliminary Freeskate Test but no higher complete test. Program length will be 2 minutes. The age eligibility for Preliminary Ladies is 9 years and under. The age eligibility for Preliminary Men is under 11 years. 6. The ISU Placement Calculations (OBO) will be used to determine the results of the competition. There will be open marking. Ordinals will not be posted with results.

4 7. All music must be recorded on cassette or CD s and two copies per event are to be submitted upon registration. Music should commence on both tapes no later than five seconds beyond leader tape. Each cassette and its container must be clearly marked with the following information: 1. Skater s Name and Home Club 2. Event and Category 3. Recording time of each tape 4. Master or Copy tape Pre-Juvenile and Juvenile Dancers will use Series 8 Music. Pre-Novice and Novice Dancers will use ISU music. 8. The size of the ice surface is 85 X Hotel Information is attached. All entrants are responsible for making their own reservations and paying their own bills. 10. Skaters are responsible for their own transportation to Mount Pearl and transportation between accommodations and the arena. 11. Admission to the competition will be free. 12. Due to the regulations of the Arena, hospitality will not be available for parents and skaters. The Arena has a canteen with a seating area and there are numerous fastfood eating establishments nearby. 13. To be accredited at the 2005 Sectionals competition, coaches must be a member of Skate Canada, NCCP Level 2 certified and possess a valid First Aid Certificate. Coaches must register at the Arena and show their photo ID. 14. Registration will take place at the Glacier Friday, November 12 th and Saturday November 13 th starting at 7:00am. 15. The Opening Ceremonies have been tentatively scheduled for 1pm on Friday, November 12 th. All skaters are expected to participate with the exception of those skaters competing immediately following the ceremonies. All Clubs and Regions are expected to bring their banners. 16. There will be a Reception for Parents and Officials on Friday evening following competition. Invitations will be mailed. 17. There will be a Closing Banquet at the conclusion of the Championships on Saturday evening at approximately 7:30pm at the See attached order form.

5 18. All medal and award presentations will take place during the Closing Banquet on Saturday evening. 19. There will be a meeting of the Eastern Challenge qualifying team following the competition, time and place to be announced. 20. Photographer will be available The Glacier on Friday & Saturday from 2pm to 4pm. Photos are to be pre-ordered and pre-paid. See attached form.
