The top three clubs qualified for the semi finals of the Championship and the top 5 individuals qualified for the final of the Champion of Champions. This years' competition picked up where we left off in 2010 with the first heat being won by the 2010 champions Change FF AC "A". Change were represented by Kevin McCabe (5 fish for 8lb 14oz), Andy Dunn (4 fish for 6lb 13oz) and Jock Kettles (2 fish for 4lb 2oz). In second place were Dunoon & District AC "A" represented by Colin McDonald (4 fish for 6lb 13oz), Keith McKenzie (3 fish for 6lb 1oz) and Richard Elliott. Butcher Boy AC "B" were third and were represented by Ralph Fleming (3 fish for 5lb 8oz), Calum Brodie (2 fish for 5lb 2oz) and Mark Fleming. The top five individuals were Douglas Scott of Earlston AA who had 5 trout for 9lb 5oz, Kevin McCabe, Colin McDonald, Andy Dunn and Keith McKenzie. Douglas took his fish on an olive buzzer fished on a mdige tip line at the Malling shore. Kevin took all his fish on dries at Kates Brae while Colin McDonald took his at the Butts and Shear Point on a white cat on a midge tip line and on shuttlecocks. Andy also took his fish in the Butts where he fished buzzers on a floating line.

6 ...photo: Change FF AC "A"... photo: Champion of Champion qualifiers Full Result Scottish Club Championship - Heat 1 7th May Arbroath AC "B" Ayr AC "B" Avonbank Fishing Club "B" Blairgowrie Rattray & District AA "B" rd Butcher Boy AC "B" st Change FF AC "A" CSSA (Rosyth) "B" nd Dunoon & District AC "A" Earlston AA "B" Glenburn AC "B" Heatherfly Fishers "B" Kahts Whiskers AC "B" Lochgilphead & District AC "B" Penicuik AC Heat 2 of the Scottish Club Championship produced a clean sweep of the prizes by Ayr Travellers FF "B" who were the top club as well as the team members having the heaviest basket and the heaviest fish. To round off a great night for them, two of the team qualified for the final of the Champion of Champions. The team consisted of John Anderson (Snr) who had 5 trout for 11lb 2oz; John Anderson (Jnr) who had 4 trout for 9lb 4oz and Daniel McCormick who had 2 trout for 3lb 4oz. The heaviest fish of the night, a trout of 3lb 2oz, fell to John Anderson (Snr) who also had the heaviest basket. In second place was Rescobie Loch Development Association "B" and their team was made up of George Gall who had 5 trout for 9lb 15oz; Scott McGregor who had 3 trout for 6lb and Charlie Walls who had 1 trout for 2lb 6oz. Port Glasgow AC "B" were third and their team was Derek Barclay who had 4 trout for 8lb 6oz; Ian Tucker who had 1 trout for 2lb 3oz and Farrel Crumlish who had 3 trout for 6lb 7oz. These three teams go through to the semi finals in September. The top five individuals qualify for the final of the Champion of Champions in October. Top individual was John Anderson (Snr) (Ayr Travellers FF) who caught his fish in The Rookery on a teqilla blob and cormorants on a fast glass line. In second was George Gall (Rescobie Loch DA) who took his fish in The Rookery and Cages Bay fishing blobs and cormorants on midge tip and slow glass lines. Steven Welsh (Dalbeattie AC) who had 5 trout for 9lb 12 oz was in third and he took his fish at Kates Brae on a cat booby and blobs on a fast glass line. Fourth place was a tie between Willie Edmond (RAF Fishhawks) who had 4 trout for 9lb 4oz as did John Anderson (Jnr) (Ayr Travellers FF). Willie took his fish in International

7 Bay where he fished blobs and small boobies on a wet cell 2 line. Greeenock & District AC were second with 10 fish for 22lb 11oz and Kinross AC were third with 12 fish for 22lb 5oz. The top five individuals go through to the final of the Champion of Champions and they are:- 1. M Hamilton (Caley Liners FF) 5 fish for 11lb 8oz 2. A Hutchison (Greenock & Disatrict) 5 fish for 10lb 14oz

A Smith (Kinross AC) 5 fish for 8lb 8oz photo: Caley Liners John Benson Brian Kennedy and Martin Hamilton Heat 5-4th June Scottish Club Championship - Heat 3 21st May Blackbull FF Club "B" 1st Caley Liners FF "B" Canmore (Forfar) AC "B" Craufurdland FF "B" Cupar AC Dunfermline Artisan "B" Falkirk Municipal AC "A" Ferry FF "B" 2nd Greenock & District AC Largs & District AC "B" Leslie & Glenrothes AC "B" North Berwick AC Strathleven FF "B" Stirling Castle AC "A" 3rd Kinross AC The competition was back on track for heat 5 after the cancellation of heat 4 and although it was a bitterly cold evening the fish were well up in the water and several limit bags were taken. Trout were caught at Kates Brae through to Hotel Bay and in the shallows and deeper water in Cages Bay with methods varying from blobs and nymphs to boobies and dries. 131 trout for 289lb 14oz were caught by the 42 anglers who were out. The top three teams qualify for the semi final stage with the top team last night being St Fillans and Lochearn AA with 15 trout for 29lb 14oz. The St Fillans team comprised of Peter Auchterlonie who had 5 fish for 9lb; Ronnie Gilbert who had 5 fish for 9lb 14 oz and George Whyte who had 5 fish for 10lb 6oz. Peter and Ronnie are off to Orkney on Monday for the Spring International and hopefully their success will continue there. Balfron Piscatorials with 13 trout for 28lb 8oz were in second. Their three anglers were Gordon Hayward (3 fish for 6lb 6oz), Bob Robertson (5 fish for 10lb) and James Fairlie (5 fish for 12lb 2oz). Grizzlecats "A" were in third and were represented by Andy Boylan (5 fish for 11lb), John Morton (3 fish for 5lb 14oz) and Peter Edge (5 fish for 11lb 6oz). The top 5 individuals go through to the final of the Champion of Champions and with many limit bags being taken it needed 5 fish to qualify. Top rod was Derek Keenan (IBM Freshwater) who took his fish on diawl bachs on a midge tip line in Cages Bay. In second place was James Fairlie who was also in Cages Bay and he took his fish on yellow owls. Alan Daisley was third and he concentrated on Hotel Bay where he fished blobs and nymphs on a midge tip line. In 4th place was David Ogg who took his trout in Cages Bay with a cat booby on a midge tip line. The 5th place was taken by Drew Lamb.

For the first time in weeks the Lake settled to a flat calm and fish began to show on the surface. 23 limit bags were taken on a night that produced 168 rainbows for 359lb 14oz. Top team was Hedgehogs AC "B" with 15 fish for 33lb 14oz. Second were Alba Orvis FF "B"with 15 fish for 33lb 5oz and Newtyle & Meigle AC were third with 13 fish for 26lb 8oz. The top individuals going through to the final of the Champion of Champions were:- Craig Cowan of Hedgehogs with 5 fish for 11lb 14oz James Gardiner of Alba Orvis with 5 fish for 11lb 7oz Jock Royan of Alba Orvis with 5 fish for 11lb 4oz Ian Preston of Farmers & Associates with 5 fish for 11lb 4oz Tied for 5th place with 5 fish for 11lb 3oz were:- Tom Graham of Inverurie Bill Braithwaite of St Boswells & Newtown The heaviest fish was taken by Craig Cowan and went to the scales at 3lb 6oz. 10 Tullibole AC Heat 7-18th June Clan Chiefs were the top team in Heat 7 and will be joined in the semi finals by Leslie Llanilar who were second and Dunfermline Railway and Forth Area Federation who were tied for third. 98 trout for 231lb 4oz were caught. The top 5 individuals going through to the Champion of Champions final were:- 1. Jim Hay (Dunfermline Railway) 5 trout for 13lb 2oz 2. David Dunn (Leslie Llanilar) 5 trout for 12lb 8oz 3. Alan Gilbert (Strathclyde Police) 5 trout for 11lb 14oz Scottish Club Championship - Heat 7 18th June Badenoch AA 1st Clan Chiefs "A" Cowdenbeath & District AC Crieff FF "B" 3rd= Dunfermline Railway AC Edinburgh Civil Service AC 3rd= Forth Area Federation of Anglers Gartmore AC ICI (Dumfries) AC 2nd Leslie Llanilar Lochinch "B" Strathclyde Police "A" Strathclyde Police "B" Strathgryfe AA St Winnoch AC Vale of Leven & District AC Heat 8-25th June Thirteen clubs went out on Saturday night and between them caught 95 trout for 225lb 10oz. The winning team was East Kilbride AC "A" who had 15 fish for 32lb 2oz. In second place was Inverclyde FF who had 11 fish for 25lb 15oz and in third was Port Glasgow AC "A" who had 10 fish for 24lb 8oz. These three teams go through to the semi finals. The top individual was Ian Campbell of Inverclyde FF who had 5 fish for 12lb 3oz. In second was George Martin of Port Glasgow AC who had 5 fish for 12lb 2oz. Third was Alan Ramshaw of Clan Chiefs "B" with 4 fish for 11lb 1oz with Craig McKean of East Kilbride AC in fourth with 5 fish for 10lb 14oz and Billy Winning of East Kilbride AC in fifth with 5 fish for 10lb 12oz. The heaviest fish was a trout of 4lb 10oz which was caught by Ken Oliver of Inverclyde FF.

11 Scottish Club Championship - Heat 8 25th June Arbroath AC "A" Bank of Scotland (Glasgow) Butcher Boy AC "A" Clan Chiefs "B" Clatto & Stratheden AC Dalzell Steel AC "A" Earlston AA "A" 1st East Kilbride AC "A" Falkirk Fly Dressers "A" 2nd Inverclyde FF Lochgilphead & District AC "A" Newton Stewart & District AA PGLG Angling Club Port Ellen AC 3rd Port Glasgow AC "A" Rescobie Loch DA "A" Heat 9-2nd July Conditions were near perfect for heat 9 with an overcast sky and a light ripple. 115 trout were caught with a weight of 276lb 8oz. Top club was Change FF "B" with 15 trout for 34lb 7oz. Laurencekirk and District were second with 11 trout for 29lb 10oz and Kahts Whiskers were third with 13 trout for 29lb 5oz. These three clubs go through to the semi finals. The heaviest fish on the night went to the scales at 4lb 9oz and was caught by Kenny McClymont of Ardrossan Eglinton. The top five anglers, all of whom had 5 fish, qualified for the final of the Champion of Champions and they were:- 1. Wullie Leach of Change FF "B" - 13lb 3oz 2. Tom Lindsay of Dunfermline Artisan - 13lb 1oz 3. Robin Brown of Kinglassie - 12lb 10oz 4. Steve Bett of Kahts Whiskers - 12lb 4oz 5. 12 Heat 10-9th July Kinglassie AC 2nd Laurencekirk & District AA "A" Lochinch "A" Rothes Oak AC "B" Saturday AC SPPM "A" Stirling Castle AC "B" 16 teams were in the competition on Saturday night and they landed 11 trout weighing in at 289lb 14oz. The top club was Kelso AA with all three anglers taking limit bags. Their 15 trout weighed 38lb 2oz. In second place was Edinburgh Trout Anglers who had 12 trout for 33lb 7oz and in third was Grizzlecats "B" who had 12 trout for 32lb 11oz. The top team was Canmore AC (Forfar) with 13 trout for 31lb 11oz. In second place was Hawick AC with 11 trout for 29lb 7oz and the third placed team was Alba Orvis with 10 trout for 28lb 6oz. A total of 88 fish were caught for 225lb 8oz. The team from SANACC of Kenny Miller (2 fish), Iain Earle (5 fish) and John Kaye (5 fish) came out on top with their 12 fish which weighed 32lb. The Strathleven team of Dennis Splaine (5 fish), Alex Barnes (2 fish) and Mark Tweedie (5 fish) were second with the team from ABC&D AC of William Cowan (5 fish), Brian Abel (4 fish) and Jamie herd (2 fish) in third. These three teams progress to the semi finals. The top five individuals, who all caught 5 fish, go through to the final of the Champion of Champions. 1. Iain Earle (SANACC) 17lb 2oz 2. James Ferguson (St Mungo AC) 14lb 7oz 3. John Ross (Bonnybridge AC) 13lb 13oz 4. Dennis Splaine (Strathleven FF) 13lb 12 oz 5. William Cowan (ABC&D AC) 13lb 1oz Iain Earle, who took his fish on dries in Hotel Bay and Cages Bay also caught the heaviest fish which was a beauty of 5lb 3oz. James Ferguson took his fish on nymphs and boobies on a Cortland Blue line in Hotel Bay. 17 Heat 13-30th July 2011 Fifteen teams took part in Saturday night's competition for what turned out to be a difficult night. 70 fish for 191lbs 11ozs was the total catch with three competitors taking limit bags. The top team was Loanhead and District ( Willie Smith - 5 fish; Derek Marklow - 4 fish and Angus Armour - 2 fish) with 11 fish for 29lb 10ozs. In second place was Middleton FF (Tam White - 5 fish; Gary McDonald - 4 fish and Graham Steele - 1 fish) with 10 fish for 27lbs 11ozs. Largs & District AC "A" were third (Alex Frew - 5 fish, Morris Dixon - 4 fish and John Dunbar) with 9 fish for 24lbs 6ozs. The top five competitors who qualified for the Champion of Champions final were:- 1. Willie Smith - 5 fish for 14lbs 2. Tam White - 5 fish for 13lbs 8ozs 3. Alex Frew - 5 fish for 12lbs 13 ozs 4. Morris Dixon - 4 fish for 11lbs 9ozs 5. Alastair MacGillivray (SPPM "B") - 4 fish for 11lbs 8ozs Sinking lines were required on Saturday night and Willie took his fish on candy and cat boobies on a DI 5 line in the deep water off of the Rookery. Tam and Morris took their fish in Cages Bay with a cat booby and cormorant on a DI 5. Alastair was also in Cages Bay and the Rookery and took his fish on a cat on a DI 3 line. 19 Heat 4-6th August 2011 With heavy rain forecast thirteen teams set out for the final heat (rescheduled from May). The rain did arrive and it poured constantly all evening. Some shallower areas produced fish to sink tip lines with deeper areas producing fish to diawl bachs, nymphs and buzzers on DI3 and DI5 lines. A total of 47 trout for 119lb 5oz were caught. Top club was Stanley & District with 7 fish for 17lb. Second was Kelso AA "B" with 5 fish for 14lb 7oz and the third spot went to Monifieth Trout with 6 fish for 13lb 8oz. These three teams go through to the semi final on 23rd September. The top five individuals going through to the final of the Champion of Champions on Friday 14th October are:- 1. Andrew Peoples (Kelso AA) - 4 fish for 12lb 2. Malcolm Selvey (Monifieth Trout) - 5 fish for 11lbs 3. Phil Hunter (Airdrie & District) - 4 fish for 9lb 9oz 4.
