3 Dear Fall Foliage Travelers: We have enclosed the information that you requested on our New England and Eastern Canada tours. We have operated tours to the northeast for over 30 years. Using that experience, we have created two excellent itineraries. Hundreds have participated in each and we can guarantee a memorable autumn experience. Each is designed to be in the various regions during the statistical peak week for fall colors. The dates offered are as follows: Fall Foliage Spectacular: September 25-October 7, days This tour is for those who want to see it all. We begin in Niagara Falls and spend the first few days visiting fascinating areas in the province of Ontario including Toronto, Kingston (1,000 Island Cruise in St. Lawrence Seaway) and Ottawa (Canada s capitol city). We then enter French Canada seeing places like Montreal, Quebec and New Brunswick. We return to English Canada enjoying quaint Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. A ferry takes us to New England where we enjoy the highlights of Maine, New Hampshire and Boston area. Classic New England Tour October 4-11, days This tour is for those who want to focus more specifically on New England. We fly to Boston and make a carefully chosen circle through New England. We travel north through coastal and interior Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, ferry across Lake Champlain into the Adironak Mountains (Lake Placid), and continue south along Lake George into Saratoga Springs. From there, we travel into the Berkshires of western Mass. (including Rockwell Museum) and back toward Boston via Sturbridge and Plymouth on Cape Cod. It is one of our most popular tours every year and we GUARANTEE a great experience. DAILY ITINERARY Day 1: Salt Lake City to Niagara Falls. This morning, with great anticipation, we board our plane for Buffalo, NY. Our airconditioned, restroom equipped bus will be waiting to take us to our motel in nearby Niagara Falls, Canada. After we freshen up, you will be treated to dinner high atop the spectacular Skylon Tower, overlooking the falls. This will be the first of several UNIQUE and delicious dining experiences. We ll stay at the beautiful Radisson Fallsview hotel. D Day 2: Niagara Falls to Kingston, Ontario. This morning we ll see what we missed last night around the falls. You ll have time to ride the Maid of the Mist, walk behind the falls, or just do your own thing. At about 11:30, we ll head for our lunch appointment in Toronto high atop the Canadian National Tower in their revolving dining room. This is the tallest free-standing structure in the world (with a lunch to match) and a great way to see the city. As we leave Toronto we will drive along the north shore of Lake Ontario to Kingston where we will spend the night. On the way, we ll stop at the Big Apple Store and enjoy some fresh apple pie. L Day 3: Kingston to Ottawa. We re in for a treat this morning as we board a comfortable, enclosed boat for a scenic cruise through the Thousand Islands. This was the playground for rich and famous and includes islands of all shapes and sizes. We ll cruise by the lovely Bolt Castle (on Heart Island) and share one of history s greatest loves stories. The scenery and setting in the fall are breathtaking. From there, it s a short drive into Ottawa, Canada s charming capitol city. We ll arrive in time for lunch in the interesting Market Square area. After lunch, our local guide will meet us and show us some of the sights of the city. You ll love the parkways along the Rideaux Canal, the grounds of the Governor General s residence and, of course, the Parliament Buildings, Ottawa s signature structures, where we ll learn about Canada s interesting system of government. Dinner will be a treat tonight at Tucker s Markegplace, a delicious buffet within walking distance of our hotel. Come hungry, the food is delicious. Our hotel tonight will be the lovely Marriot in the unique Byward Market area. D Day 4: Ottawa to Montreal to Quebec. This morning you ll have some time to browse in the Market Square area before we head out for Montreal. We ll be there by noon (it s a two hour drive). Montreal is Canada s largest city and is home to interesting history and, some spectacular views. Upon arrival, you ll have some free time in the Old City. This is where Montreal began. You can have lunch in the famous Underground Montreal, an incredible city under the city. If you are interested, you can visit the famous Basilica of Notre Dame, begun in 1642, it is one of the oldest churches in the Americas. As we leave town, we ll enjoy the lookout at Mount Royal where you can see the entire city and the St. Lawrence Seaway. In the afternoon, we ll enjoy a scenic drive toward Quebec. It is late September/ early October and today we should begin to see the fall colors as we travel further north into Quebec. After checking into the Clarion Hotel, we ll take you into the walled city where you can get dinner this evening. Few cities, if any, enjoy more charm and ambiance than Old Quebec City. It is simply one of the world s greatest cities because of its majestic setting (a walled city on the St. Lawrence), fascinating culture, and critical history. The fall colors provide a spectacular backdrop as we enjoy the scenes. We ll be here two nights. Quebec is truly one of the world s unique and must see destinations. Day 5: Quebec City. Today we will enjoy a guided tour of Quebec including the Plains of Abraham, the Walled City (including a short walking tour of the old town), Place Royal, the Farmer s Market and more. In addition, we ll see the lovely Isle of Orleans which is spectacular in the fall. We ll enjoy a memorable lunch at Le Chateau Frontenac, Canada s most famous building, as it overlooks this impressive city on the St. Lawrence River After lunch, you ll have a couple of hours to look in the unique shops, walk along the river or explore the walled city. Later, we ll travel 10 minutes along the St. Lawrence River to see Montmorency Falls followed by a visit to

5 Chez Marie s for a slice of hot bread and honey in a delightful fall setting. We ll have some free time this evening to relax. I guarantee that you will love Quebec City. We ll stay in the Clarion Hotel again tonight. L Day 6: Quebec City to Moncton. We ll spend the day in the province of New Brunswick. The countryside is similar with spectacular fall colors, but the people change from French to English. We ll pass through quaint towns of Riviere du Loup, Notre Dame du Lac and into Grand Falls where we ll have lunch. In nearby Hartland, we ll see the world s longest covered bridge. The afternoon drive will take us into Moncton, New Brunswick. As the Revolutionary War continued in the states, many English Loyalists fled north and settled in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. This area was their hub. B Day 7: Moncton to Prince Edward Island. Before leaving Moncton, we ll show you Magnetic Hill (it s a surprise). Then it s off to Prince Edward Island. A recently completed bridge makes it easy to get onto the island (we re only 2 hours away). Prince Edward Island was made famous by Ann of Green Gables and you ll instantly fall in love with the lush green countryside by the sea, very similar to Scotland & England. Endless potato fields, red-sand coastline and quaint villages dot the rolling landscape. We ll be joined by a local guide who will show us the island this afternoon. Part of the tour includes a visit to the home made famous by Lucy Maude Montgomery s novels about life at Green Gables. Our dinner is at Fisherman s Wharf in Rustico on the bay. If you like lobster, this is your chance to have it fresh from the Atlantic! We ll sleep in Charlottetown tonight. B, D Day 8: Charlottetown to Halifax: This morning we ll drive to the southern end of the island (with more incredible scenery) and take a ferry ride into Nova Scotia which means New Scotland. It s a ninety minute drive into Halifax. After lunch, we will enjoy a guided tour of Halifax and the surrounding area by a delightful Scottish guide. The Public Gardens, the Harbor, The Citadel and Titanic graves will be the highlights of the tour. At the end of the tour, spend an hour at the Maritime museum, shopping or resting at the hotel. This evening will be a treat as we drive a short distance to one of the most beautiful spots on earth: Peggy s Cove. The original lighthouse still stands in the midst of the huge granite boulders that line the rugged shore. We ll enjoy dinner at the Sou Wester Restaurant overlooking the ocean and, hopefully, a spectacular sunset. D Day 9: Halifax to Maine. Today we will follow the Evangeline Trail to the nearby Grand Pre National Historic Park. This was the home of Evangeline and her people before they were harshly transported to Louisiana by the British. The story, the new visitor s center and the chapel are very touching and enjoy a lovely setting. Their story is very interesting, and a MUST SEE in this part of Canada. We ll have lunch in Digby by the Bay and a chance to browse (the tidal change is greater in Digby, on the Bay of Fundy, than any other place in the world!). At 4:00, we will board the Marine Atlantic Ferry known as THE CAT, and cross the Bay of Fundy to Portland, Maine. The crossing takes about 4 1/2 hours (and saves 14 hours of driving time) and we gain one hour on the way. The vessel is comfortable and luxurious. After dinner, we ll retire for the evening. Day 10: Portland to New Hampshire. After breakfast today, we ll see some of the highlights in this area including the Portland Headlight, among the most beautiful lighthouses on the east coast. You ll also have some time in the charming, historic waterfront district for lunch and browsing. At mid-day, we ll head west toward New Hampshire. It is a beautiful fall colors drive as we make our way across Maine through the woods and lakes and onto scenic route 2 into Gorham, New Hampshire. We ll arrive about 4:00 and check into The Town and Country Inn. The inn sits at the foot of tree-covered mountains with color as far as the eye can see. It s the country inn that you picture when you visualize the fall foliage. This evening will be treated to a New England style dinner at the picturesque inn. There s no better way to experience New England in the Fall! B, D Day 11: New Hampshire. Welcome to the heart of New England! Sleep in today. There is much to see in New Hampshire. Our touring will include some INCREDIBLE loops that, in my opinion, are the best Fall drives in New England. We ll follow the Androscoggin River to the Dixville Notch visiting the beautiful Balsams Resort where we ll enjoy a lunch at the clubhouse overlooking an incredible fall scene. If nature cooperates, it is perhaps the most spectacular fall scene you ll ever see. We ll continue along the Vermont border through the Franconia Notch and visit the famous Mt. Washington Hotel. We ll be back at the hotel by 4:30. Enjoy some fun shopping in the town of Gorham. You ll have some free time this evening. B, L, D Day 12: New Hampshire to Boston. This morning we will enjoy another spectacular fall foliage drive (although yesterday s scenery is tough to beat). This morning we ll drive along the Kancamangus Highway which is a 45 minute stretch of incredible fall vistas. We ll make several picture stops along the way including a perfect covered bridge, rocky scenic gorge and a wonderful 20 minute stroll through the foliage to Sabbaday Falls. We ll have a picnic lunch while we re there. After exiting the highway, we ll drive down the interstate to Boston. We ll have a chance to see Lexington and Concord this afternoon. B, L Day 13: Boston to Salt Lake. Today we continue to visit key American history sights on the Freedom Trail including the Old North Church, the USS Constitution, Bunker Hill and more. We have an excellent local guide who brings history to life. We ll enjoy lunch and browsing at the famous Quincy Market. Then, it is on to the airport for our flight home. B A passport will not be required for entry into Canada until This will be the last year to do this tour without a passport.

After lunch at Quincy Market (a delightful place to browse), we ll see the city sights such as Bunker Hill, Old Ironsides, the Old North Church and more. There s just something special about Boston. That feeling is enhanced in the glory of the autumn foliage and the crisp fall feeling in the air. We ll stay in Boston again tonight. B October 6: Here we go! This morning we ll head north on I-95 toward Maine. We ll travel through the quaint town of Hampton and along Maine s scenic coast. For lunch, we ll be in Kennebunkport, Maine, summer home of President George Bush (1). You ll be on your own to browse in this sea-side town and get some lunch. After lunch, we ll enjoy a scenic fall drive through the interior of Maine as we make our way into New Hampshire s White Mountains. There are trees and lakes and hills in every direction. Our hotel tonight is over the New Hampshire border in Gorham at the lovely Town and Country Inn at the foot of the White Mountains. We ll have a five course meal at the resort which sits on a beautiful golf course surrounded by trees as far as the eye can see. B, D October 7: Today we continue our scenic journey. After a delicious New England-style breakfast, we will enjoy some of the most spectacular fall foliage of the tour. This morning we ll drive along the Kancamangus Highway which is a 45 minute stretch of incredible fall vistas. We ll make several picture stops along the way including a perfect covered bridge, rocky scenic gorge and a wonderful 30 minute stroll through the foliage to Sabbaday Falls. We ll have a picnic lunch while we re there. We ll then see the famous Franconia Notch as we work our way into Vermont. We ll have an hour to browse in lovely Stowe, Vermont, a popular resort town in New England and a fun place for a little shopping. Our hotel tonight is in Burlington. B, L October 8: Burlington sits on the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain. This morning we ll board a ferry for a short and scenic ride across the lake. When we get to the other side, we ll be in New York s Adirondack Mountains. We ll view the famous Ausable Chasm, a deep gorge formed by the river. We ll follow the scenic Ausable River toward Lake Placid where we ll enjoy lunch and a chance for some browsing. Lake Placid is one of the region s charming towns in a picturesque setting. If time and weather permits, we ll ascend to the top of Whiteface Mountain for spectacular views. From Lake Placid, we ll work our way south. Our drive today is one of the most scenic drives of the trip as we make our way through the vibrant color and along Lake George. The area is heavily wooded with different views around every turn. We ll have a rest stop in the town of Lake George in a postcard setting. Our hotel for the evening is in Clifton Park. B October 9: About an hour from our hotel is the delightful town of Stockbridge in the fabled Berkshire Hills. We ll visit the Norman Rockwell Museum and spend some time seeing a renowned display of Americana. It contains the largest collection of Norman Rockwell paintings. Mr. Rockwell spent many years in Stockbridge. The museum is a highlight. We ll then travel scenic highway 20 through Springfield into Old Sturbridge. This is classic New England. Old homes, town church, tree-covered streets and that Old England feel. We ll have a late lunch (about 2:30) at the historic Publick House which was established during the Revolutionary War. The history and the food are unforgettable. We ll take a late afternoon drive along scenic route 169 in northern Connecticut as we make our way in to our hotel, arriving by 6:00. We ll stay in the Providence area tonight. B, L October 10: Welcome to Rhode Island! We re one hour from Newport, where we ll spend most of the morning. Newport has long been the favored vacation site of the rich and famous. A local guide will join us and show us the famous Ten-Mile Drive, which boasts many homes and exquisite estates from Newport s memorable Gilded Age. After lunch, you can go through The Breakers, the most palatial of all the estates in Newport (once the seaside cottage of the Vanderbilts). We ll then enjoy a one hour drive into Plymouth, Mass. B October 11: We ve enjoyed an incredible autumn experience to this point and we ll finish the tour in style. We ll spend the morning at the Plimoth Plantation, which recreates life in the mid 1600 s. It is one of America s great preservation sites. Add the fall color, and it s beyond words. Dressed in period clothing, the hosts will show you what it was like over 350 years ago. Lunch is included at Isaacs, one of Plymouth s fine restaurants overlooking Cape Cod. After lunch, you ll have a chance to visit the Mayflower replica and Plymouth Rock before our one hour drive to the airport for our flight home.
