2 Introduction Contents Welcome to our very first edition of the Special Olympics Telford and Shropshire activity brochure. 3 Timetabled activities will state if pre-booking is required. Some opportunities have limited spaces, whereas others you can simply turn up and take part. Or feel free to go and have a look at any of the activities listed. Bookable activities will prioritise new participants throughout the taster month to ensure people get to try a variety of activities. Suitable for all abilities. What you might need to bring: Clothing suitable for the weather (outdoor venue), a bottle of water and trainers. Provide a disability specific session for those wanting additional support, and a mixed ability for those interested in integrating into mainstream dance sessions. What time: 9:30-10:00am What they do: High quality swimming sessions with low ratios bringing advanced learning for complete beginners. Involved in friendly rugby matches across the country and overseas too. What you might need to bring: Clothing suitable for the weather (training is outdoors). Trainers or studded boots if you have them. Learn the basics of Netball in an open, fun environment. For beginners and experienced players. Regular sessions will start from October on a monthly/weekly basis based on interest. What you might need to bring: Trainers, a bottle of water and comfortable clothing. Feel free to go and have a look before getting involved. Telford Sailability Club Where to go: Priorslee Lake, Off Teece Dr, Priorslee What time: Friday various 60/90 minute slots available What they do: Sailing for all abilities, suitable for wheelchair users and beginners to sailing, carers welcome to get involved too. They also provide life jackets and waterproofs for all. What you might need to bring: Comfortable clothing and a big smile. 8 Wrekin Riders BMX Where to go: Duce Drive Dawley What time: Saturday/Sunday 10:00-12:00pm (all ages) What they do: A welcoming all ability cycling club supporting people to ride from a balance bike right up to an adrenaline jumping BMX rider. What you might need to bring: Wear a long sleeved top and trousers, pads and helmets provided. Coming soon...
