This information is just a sample of the many available external resources and can evolve over time. The Library is an extensive collection with materials supporting Scottish Gaelic language learning & cultural study: Scottish Gaelic External References & Resources Other Learning Opportunities Atlantic Gaelic Academy The Atlantic Gaelic Academy is an online Gaelic language school, dedicated to teaching its students to read, write, & speak the Gaelic Language. Its goal is to increase the number of Gaelic speakers by making Gaelic courses & education available to students wherever they live. Colaisde na Gàidhlig - The Gaelic College In Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, with a 78-year history of education in the culture, music, language, arts, crafts, customs & traditions of immigrants from the Highlands of Scotland, today Colaisde na Gàidhlig is a bustling campus offering students multi-disciplinary & immersion learning opportunities year-round. Sabhal Mòr Ostaig (SMO) The College is a National Centre for Gaelic Language & Culture with lots of learning opportunities for people with an interest in Gaelic, both at the College & via distance-learning. Listen to the weeks' radio programmes again, check out TV schedules, submit requests, play interactive games & quizzes & much, much more. BBC Alba Foghlam a section on the BBC site, specifically for education. BBC - Alba - Beag Air Bheag Beag air Bheag means 'little by little', & that is just how the sections of the site aim to introduce you to the language. A traditional approach to Gaelic for absolute beginners: from simple Gaelic greetings to slightly extended conversations about everyday things. All words & phrases are available as audio. Users can learn five Gaelic songs with Traditional Mod Gold winner, Sineag MacIntyre.
3 BBC Alba - An Litir Bheag Every Monday evening you can read & listen here to Roddy Maclean's An Litir Bheag ("the little letter"), which is aimed at people who are at an earlier stage in their learning than is catered for by the Litir do Luchd-Ionnsachaidh. Air Splaoid! The Air Splaoid! campaign is trying to encourage everyone to learn Gaelic. The website consists of twelve lessons packed with fun, games & brilliant animations. Ceumannan Link to the website of Stòrlann Nàiseanta na Gàidhlig, the organisation charged with coordinating production & distribution of Gaelic educational resources to schools in Scotland. It focusses on active speaking & listening rather than writing or grammar, & offers a refreshing alternative to enthusiastic students who really want to be able to speak the language.
