In the sections of the report that follows are details of actions that took place throughout Ireland at all levels of the game and within clubs, schools and community groups. This year s actions have seen a significant increase in the number of clubs engaging in FARE fortnight activities with the number rising to 58 from just in and last year. The number of players involved in the actions was The clubs received correspondence in August to invite an expression of interest on the website of Show Racism the Red Card. 5 Dear Club Secretary, The FAI s Intercultural Football Programme in conjunction with the education project Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC) and other partners are co-ordinating grassroots club based actions as part of the UEFA supported Football against Racism in Europe campaign/ weeks (fare weeks). Clubs at all levels of the game across Europe from the grassroots to the Champions League will promote respect for diversity and make a stand against racism/discrimination. We would be pleased if your club will answer the call and join grassroots clubs around Europe in supporting the fare week campaign? Many of you may already be promoting respect for diversity and take a clear stance on Racism in your club. As part of the Football against Racism in Europe campaign there are many simple football actions that your club can do. Below we have set out actions we would like you to get behind, as well as outlining below how your actions will be supported: What we would like your club to do during fare week (for underage clubs/teams): Contact the clubs you are playing during the campaign period 5th- 19th October, and explain to managers/mentors that your club is supporting the fare campaign by exchanging wristbands at the start of your match (es). Agree with opposition that players will exchange wristbands just prior to the start of the match and shake hands (Champions League style). Agree with mentors and managers that they will need to explain to players prior to the match (during warm ups) why your club is supporting this campaign. Take a photo of players exchanging wristbands and shaking hands-send this to info@ theredcard.ie Use anti-racism signage cards for a group photo with all players. Display the anti-racism signage cards after use in prominent places in your club (clubhouse, changing rooms etc.). For adult clubs/teams: Wear anti-racism bibs in your warm up so your support for the campaign is displayed visually and use anti-racism signage cards for a group photo with all players. What will be provided by the FAI and its partners? Show Racism the Red Card wristbands (underage clubs/teams or actions involving children). Adult anti-racism bibs (adults clubs/teams or actions involving adults) 11 Show Racism the Red Card small A4 signage cards. Offer of a free minute anti-racism awareness workshop. We are also available to visit your club, if you wish, to deliver an Anti -Racism Education workshop so as to raise awareness of the issue, and the FAI rule on dealing with racism in the game. How to express your interest to take part? 8 You can apply for support through Show Racism the Red Card by completing and sending back the express an interest form on In the form outline what activities you propose and what you need from the above list by the 22nd of September 7pm. We will then send you the resources needed in the week prior to 2nd October. Intercultural Football Programme - Report 17 Intercultural Football Programme - Report 17 9
