5 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS All players MUST be financial members prior to the first round of the championships. Nomination for membership has been approved by the management committee also. Members must have played 3 competition games of golf in the 6 months prior to the Championships Players are required to nominate with Captain to play one (1) week prior to the commencement of Championships. All players MUST have a current GA handicap. Second and Third rounds, players are to be drawn on the basis of the leaders of each grade. Leaders of each division are to hit off last in field in the final round. D Grade Championship is to be played for handicaps inclusive. Championships will be played over 3 days of 18 holes each. Ties for gross events will be decided on last day of event by sudden death playoff. Failure to comply will result in loss of title. Play off holes to be determined by the Match Committee prior to teeing off. Ties for net events will be determined by countback system Over last 18 Holes.

20 Ipswich Young, NSWales GOLF COMPETITIONS AND HOW THEY ARE PLAYED These notes outline only the general idea of how some competitions are played. The Match Committee has the responsibility for laying down the conditions under which a competition is to be played and the handicaps to be applied. Main Competitions Stroke The stroke score at each hole is entered on the score card, totaled and the player s full handicap deducted. For 9 hole competition, ½ handicap deducted from gross score. S.S. (Standard Scratch) The stroke score at each hole is entered on the card. Any handicap strokes allowed (see card) are used to determine the nett score at each hole. If it is lower than par it is a win (+): if equal to par it is a half (0): if greater than par it is a loss (-). Enter the result +, 0, - in the appropriate column. At the end of the round the + and signs are added to give the result.e.g. so may up, so many down or all square. Stableford The stroke score each hole is entered on the card. The player then allows for any handicap strokes (see card) to score points on the nett score at each hole. The points result is also entered in the appropriate column. e.g nett 2 under par scores 4 points nett 1 under par scores 3 points nett par scores 2 points nett 1 over par scores 1 point anything worse scores 0 points

21 At the end of the round add up all the points scored. Other Competitions Four Ball Best Ball Competitions Two players play as partners. The stroke score and the result at each hole is entered on the score card in the appropriate columns for the partner who achieves the better result. Foursomes Two players play as partners and use one ball. The partners hit off alternatively from the tee and thereafter hit the ball alternately during the play at each hole. Mixed Foursomes As for Foursomes, except Lady Members use their own tees. (At this club it is compulsory for the member to play from the first tee.) Canadian Foursomes As for Foursomes except that both players, play tee shots at every hole and afterward continue with which ever ball they nominate. The player who is not the owner of the ball plays the second shot. American Foursomes Both players play tee shots at each hole, and then play a second stroke with their partner s ball. One ball is them selected and play proceeds as in Foursomes with the owner of the ball selected playing the third stroke Chapman Foursomes Both players play tee shots at each hole, then a second shot with their own ball. One ball is then selected and play proceeds as in Foursomes with the player who is not the owner of the ball selected playing the third stroke.

22 Flag When the player has completed a certain number of strokes (in our Club, usually 68 plus handicap) the player s round is finished. The first player carries the flag and plants it where his ball lay at the finish of his round. Subsequent players try to carry it further and replant it when they reach the end of their strokes. (ladies 70 plus handicap) Bisque The player uses handicap strokes as he chooses and not by the card. This must be done after each hole is completed and before the next hole is commenced. Ambrose Players of the side hit off. Other players of that side retrieve their ball and hit from the position of the selected ball.this is repeated for each shot.
