3 STUBBEN Biomex* SADDLES Stübben has partnered with Biomex* Technology Center, the leading hospital for orthopedics and sports medicine in Switzerland, to create an innovative seat design that greatly reduces a rider s back pain. Introducing the Stübben Biomex*... it will revolutionize your idea of a comfortable saddle. Many riders (studies say over half) suffer from back pain, especially after they ride. When riding on a horse, the force exerted on the spine flows mainly through the seat bones. Pressure on these seat bones and the extremely sensitive soft tissues around them can cause pain. The Stübben Biomex* cushions the seat bones with two kidney-shaped pads, which absorb impact and relieve spinal stress. In addition, the depression between the kidney-shaped pads also plays a crucial role, as it substantially lessens any possible pressure on the soft tissues surrounding the seat bones (see the oval areas on the diagrams at the right). In scientific comparisons with conventional saddles, seat pressure measurements at various gaits show that the Stübben Biomex* provides much greater relief in the seat bone area and the surrounding soft tissues. 9 DRESSAGE SADDLES (continued) Maestoso Deluxe (Featured in Black) This model is a variation of the regular Maestoso. It is built on the same tree and offers an identical flap design. The difference lies in the leather and the block. The Maestoso Deluxe comes with soft supple doubled leather, which is very smooth and offers excellent grip. It also features a slightly bigger block for additional support. Roxane Dressage (Featured in Black) The Roxane is built on a regular deep seat, but has a narrower twist. It comes with a pencil knee roll and layered padding on the fronts. It offers a unique flap design... instead of coming straight down, the sweat flap is angled back, holding the rider s legs back without the need for a big block. The rider feels greater freedom of movement and is not as restricted as with a big block. This model is also available in a Deluxe version, with doubled, textured, ultra-soft leather. 11 ALL PURPOSE SADDLES (continued) Roxane VSS (Featured in Havana) The Roxane VSS is made of cowhide, built on a deep seat tree, and is similar to the Siegfried but with slight variations in the design. While going forward, the flap offers a straight cut and is slightly shorter than its Siegfried counterpart. The padded fronts are layered to better mold around the leg. The panel leather matches the saddle color. It features pencil knee rolls as well as rear calf rolls. Genesis VSD Deluxe (Featured in Ebony) with the Biomex* Seat An all purpose saddle with extra comfort built into every component. Doubled leather in the flaps and jockey skirts, this saddle is the ultimate on the trail, and at home working on the flat. The flap has been sized accordingly and a big emphasis has been put on safety - the seat is very deep and very slanted on the back in order to help the rider stay secure in the seat. The sweat flaps come with both big front and rear blocks to provide all the necessary support for the legs. Available in a 17 seat. Also available in Black with Havana trim and Honey. The seat is deep and the faux suede located on the fronts and part of the jockey skirt ensures a high level of grip. 17 GAITED SADDLES Gaited Show Saddle (Featured in Black) With a wide flap, flat seat, and cut back pommel, this traditional show saddle is only traditional in its looks, not in the way that it s made. The model features the finest vegetable tanned, full grain leather (the seat is available either in suede or smooth leather) as well as wool flocked panels. It is uniquely balanced to maximize the horse s show gait, regardless of the breed of the gaited horse. 18 GAITED SADDLES (continued) Gaited Pleasure Saddle (Featured in Black and Ebony) This saddle was designed to accommodate the needs of the gaited rider and to put him/her in synch with the motion of the horse (Tennessee Walkers, Missouri Fox Trotters, Paso Finos, etc.). While it features all the usual Stübben trademarks (spring and absorbtion, full grain leather, wool flocked panels, etc.), its tree has been modified to help the rider sit further back and its flaps have been widened to provide sufficient space for the rider s legs when at a diagonal. The Gaited Pleasure Saddle can fill various functions, ranging from the ring to the trail. Keeping in mind the needs of the leisure rider, Stübben has created a saddle with a strong emphasis on comfort. Padded flaps, long and wide seat, combined with the flex of the tree, ensure a pleasurable ride for hours at a time. Among its options (color, tree widths), the Gaited Pleasure Saddle offers two choices of seat depth (rider s personal preference): either half-deep or deep. 19 ICELANDIC SADDLES Our Icelandic saddles were designed in collaboration with the master trainer Mr. Benedikt G. Lindal, a leading authority on Icelandic horses with more than 35 years of experience. These models are built on a modified spring tree whose deepest part lies further back than on a traditional Stübben tree and extends over a longer surface. The tree, in combination with special flaps and panels tailored to the Icelandic breed, provides a high level of comfort and is perfectly suited to the different motions of the gaited horse. But, the Icelandic models can be used with non-gaited horses as well, and will provide great comfort to the trail and long distance rider. NOTE: Icelandic saddles require different fitting procedures. Call us at for further details. Icelandic Elegant Flat seat version. The elegant is the traditional competition model. The shallow seat provides for a greater range of movement. The sports saddle design allows for the seat position to be changed without it affecting the horse s movement or its natural eagerness to go forward. The Elegant is available in a RS version with a quilted seat. Icelandic All Round Built on a half deep-seat and designed as a n all purpose saddle, this very versatile model will suit equally the needs of the beginners or the seasoned competitor. 20 ICELANDIC SADDLES (continued) Icelandic Comfort I (Half-deep seat): This model is built on a quilted seat and a long panel, and is geared towards trail riding or for the rider spending many hours in the saddle. Icelandic Comfort II (Flat seat): This model is identical to the Comfort I, but with a shallower seat, which provides more freedom of movement.
