Last but by no means least, the quality of a horse on type and temperament is important. Top race horses have good temperaments to withstand the rigours of racing and good conformation enables better length in stride and less joint stress and chance of injury. Matumi is well put together. She has good strong bone, a strong hind quarter, generous girth and large chest. These assets are all important to offer space for a big heart and healthy, generous set of lungs. Her length of rein is good, the longer the length of rein the more even and longer a horses stride is, which is important and in turn reduces concussion. A good sloping shoulder and matching pastern angle is a must and she also has this good attribute, along with correct leg conformation. Her top line is nicely balanced. She has a lovely head with a kind eye and is good to handle. She will throw these conformation and temperament attributes on to her progeny. The weanling filly is a lovely, balanced type, with a good length of rein, good bone, girth, strong hind quarter, good head and kind eye. She looks athletic.
