2 OFFICIAL SCORER AGREEMENT As an official scorer for Weiser Weight and Tusk, I,, do solemnly proclaim to be honest and truthful at all times when officially scoring a boar or barr. I fully understand that by giving any false information to Weiser Weight and Tusk I put myself, the hunter, and the hog I am scoring at risk of being banned from competition in Weiser Weight and Tusk indefinitely. I also understand that being a scorer for Weiser Weight and Tusk is a voluntary position. I understand that I have the option to score when and where I choose, and I also have the right to refuse to score for any reason I decide. However, I agree that I will never make the decision to score or not to score based upon any person s ethnic background, race, sex, religion, or national origin. I promise to be fair and accurate in my scoring. I realize that my honesty is a key factor in making and keeping Weiser Weight and Tusk a respected and precise method to score and record trophy class boar/barr taken all over the world. By signing this document, I am agreeing to all the rules and regulations set forth by Weiser Weight and Tusk. I am furthermore agreeing to all rules set forth in this document. 3 Dear Friend, Thank you for applying to become an official scorer for Weiser Weight and Tusk also known as WWT. We have had an enormous amount of positive feedback from the entire boar hunting community. The number of scorers are continually increasing. We appreciate your support and participation with WWT. Together we will help boar hunting rise even further in respect and popularity throughout the USA and the entire world. Boars are one of the smartest and keenest animals in the world. Any hunter that is able to harvest a boar should be truly proud of his or her accomplishment. Hunters that are blessed with a boar or barr of outstanding body or tusk size should be able to have that trophy recorded. WWT allows boar hunters to fairly and accurately score and rank their trophies, while at the same time documenting monster boars and barrs that are being harvested around the world. Following are some rules and tips to keep in mind as an official WWT scorer: *All scorers must read and understand all the documents on the WWT website. (Printing them and storing them in a binder or folder is recommended.) *All scorers must sign a Scorer Agreement downloaded from this website and mailed to Wild Boar USA. *A scorer is not allowed to score a hog that he or she has harvested. *A scorer decides when and where to score a hog (must be within 48 hrs. of kill). *A scorer must use a scale that has been calibrated within the last year and is known to be accurate. Scorers are not responsible for buying scales unless you so choose. Feel free to use scales at feed stores or slaughter houses. *A scorer must purchase a plastic seamstress tape that measures in 1/8 increments. *Document all measurements in increments of 1/8 inch. Example: 4 ¾ = 4 6/8 *Any fees incurred for weighing a hog are the responsibility of the hunter. *The hunter is responsible for supplying a stamped envelope so the score card can be mailed to WBUSA. *The hunter is responsible for the $10.00 recording fee. (Checks must be made out to Wild Boar USA.) *The scorer must have possession of the score card at all times and is responsible for mailing it and the recording fee to WBUSA. DO NOT give the score card to the hunter. *A score of 400 points must be attained to be entered into the record books. *Send all completed score cards, recording fees, and pictures to: Wild Boar USA 1139 US Hwy 77 South Hallettsville, TX *You will be assigned a scorer number. 4 BOARS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY DOMESTIC IN BREED You have become an official scorer for Weiser Weight and Tusk due to your involvement with and knowledge about wild boars. The wild hogs that roam the United States and most of the world are the product of a boiling pot of cross breeding caused by hundreds of years of importation, migration, and release/escape from captivity. WWT is a scoring system and record book for wild boars and wild barrs. The word wild carries several meanings and definitions in itself. As an official scorer, we are asking you not to accept hogs that are obviously domestic in breed. We all know the difference between a wild hog and a 4-H show pig, but sometimes there are those hunters who will try to pass a domestic hog as a wild boar. This initial judgment falls on you. You have the right to reject a hog you think is domestic in breed. WWT requires a photo of the hog being scored. This is the responsibility of the hunter and can be sent in by the hunter. The photo does not have to accompany the score card but has to be sent in no later than 30 days after the score card is received by WBUSA. When scoring the hog, please encourage the hunter to take several photos to make sure a quality picture is obtained. This photo will be used in the final determination of the wild boar status and can void the score card if the hog is rejected by WWT. WEISER WEIGHT AND TUSK RECORD BOOKS We keep separate books on boars that are free range and those harvested from high fence ranches. Please be sure to circle the appropriate designation at the bottom of the score card and include the number of acres in high fence areas. There must be at least 100 acres fenced to be considered for record book entry. Due to many hunters, trappers, and ranchers castrating and releasing young boars, we also keep separate books for barrs. This will insure complete fairness and will also give a reference to actually see how castration improves growth ability. If you score a barr, please remember to circle barr at the top of the score card. ALL SCALES USED MUST BE CALIBRATED AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR. FEEL FREE TO USE SCALES AT SLAUGHTER HOUSES OR FEED MILLS - SCALES AT TRUCK WEIGH STATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. AN OFFICIAL SCORER MUST WITNESS THE WEIGHING OF THE HOG. ANY FEES CHARGED FOR WEIGHING A BOAR ARE THE RESPOSIBILITY OF THE HUNTER. ALL WEIGHTS ARE TO BE MEASURED IN POUNDS, ROUNDED TO THE NEAREST POUND. ALL TUSK MEASUREMENTS ARE TO ME MEASURED IN INCHES, TO THE NEAREST 1/8 INCH. ALL MEASURING WILL BE DONE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE BOTTOM TUSK WITH THE END OF THE TAPE PLACED ON THE EDGE OF THE GUM LINE AND MEASURED TO THE NEAREST 1/8 INCH. THE TUSK CIRCUMFERENCE WILL BE MEASURED AT THE GUM LINE TO THE NEAREST 1/8 IN. THE TWO BOTTOM TUSKS ARE THE ONLY TWO MEASURED. IF A TUSK IS BROKEN, THEN ONLY THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE TUSK WILL BE MEASURED. IF A TUSK IS MISSING, THEN THAT TUSK IS FIGURED AS A ZERO. A SCORE OF 400 POINTS MUST BE ATTAINED TO BE ENTERED INTO THE RECORD BOOKS. ONCE YOU ARE IN THE RECORD BOOKS, YOU WILL ALWAYS REMAIN IN THE RECORD BOOKS. WWT ACCEPTS ANY TYPE OF BOAR HUNTING METHOD IN BOTH HIGH FENCED OR FREE RANGE HUNTING SITUATIONS. ONE COLOR PHOTO OF THE BOAR MUST BE SENT IN WITH THE SCORE CARD. THE PICTURE MUST BE TAKEN OF THE WHOLE BOAR LAYING ON HIS SIDE ON THE GROUND. THE PICTURE AND ALL COPYRIGHTS OF THE PICTURE BECOME PROPERTY OF WWT AND WILL NOT BE RETURNED. ALL DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND NON DEBATABLE. AN OFFICIAL SCORER IS NOT ALLOWED TO SCORE A BOAR HE OR SHE HAS HARVESTED. THE HUNTER MUST PROVIDE A STAMPED ENVELOPE FOR THE OFFICIAL SCORER IN WHICH TO SEND THE SCORE CARD. BY SIGNING THE SCORE CARD, BOTH HUNTER AND SCORER ARE AGREEING TO THE VALIDITY OF THE INFORMATION PLACED ON THE CARD AND THEY ARE ALSO AGREEING TO COMPLY WITH ALL THE RULES SET FORTH BY WWT.

6 Weiser Weight and Tusk Official Scoring System for Wild Boars The time has come for boar hunting to step forward and take its rightful place as North America s premiere dangerous game animal. Wild boars are the beasts of kings and it s time that the true monster boars have an official record scoring and documenting system by which to be ranked and remembered. Some real giants have been harvested over time. However, other than a photo and a shoulder mount, there had been no realistic and fair way to rank or compare trophy class wild boars. The Weiser Weight & Tusk Trophy Wild Boar Record Book has changed that. This is a universal scoring system developed by Cody Weiser and maintained by Wild Boar USA/Ugly Dog Ranch. Weiser Weight and Tusk or WWT, became official on January 1, 2005 and has since become the standard for scoring trophy class wild boars. In developing a fair and simple method to score wild boars, we focused on the basic and most popular characteristics that all hunters look for in a trophy or record book wild boar. These two attributes are body weight and tusk size. We developed a scoring system to rank wild boars that gives both characteristics separate but equal representation. The WWT scoring system does this flawlessly. In using the WWT system, only the weight of the boar and the size of his bottom tusks are figured into the score. In scoring, every inch of bottom tusk has been made equivalent to 50 pounds of body weight. The main focus in developing this scoring system was simplicity and equality among genetically different boars. This was accomplished by separating boars into two different classes. These two classes are the Weight class (W) and the Tusk class (T). The W class is designed to group all boars that get the majority number of points due to body weight, while the T class groups all boars together that receive the majority number of points from tusk length. Here is an example: The first boar we are going to score weighs 310 pounds and has a total bottom tusk length of 4 inches. (Each bottom tusk was exactly 2 inches long.) Each tusk also has a base circumference of 2 inches.

7 First, we would write down the weight of the boar (in pounds). Next, we would measure the circumference of each tusk at the base and add both tusk circumferences together. Last, we would add the length of each bottom tusk together (in inches) and multiply that number by 50. By adding these three numbers together we come up with the WWT score. It s that simple! For the boar we just scored, the formula should look like this: W + C + (T x 50) = WWT Score (4 x 50) = WWT Score = 514 This boar scored a 514. Now to classify the boar into the Tusk or Weight category, just look at which score was greater before you added the two together. This particular boar obviously had a greater W score so his final score would be 514W. This places the boar in the Weight category. The tusk circumference does not play a factor in whether the boar is placed in the Tusk or Weight category. Let s score a boar that weighs 240 pounds but has a total of 5.5 inches of bottom tusk and a total of 6 inches of tusk circumference. Using the WWT formula we get: = 521 This boar s greater score came from the tusk measurement, so his final score would be 521T. The W and T classes allow for all boars to be ranked by their greater physical characteristics. It equalizes the differences in physical attributes caused by differences in genetics, environment, and nutrition. Much like Boone and Crockett uses typical and non-typical classes to separate genetic differences; the WWT system uses the Weight and Tusk classes to separate genetically different boars for fair ranking purposes. The circumference is figured into the equation to be used as a tie breaker in close scoring situations. We will make a comparison to illustrate how two boars with the same WWT score differ from the W and T classes. Both of these hypothetical boars scored a 706, each in their respective class.

8 The boar in the W class weighed in at a whopping 500 pounds but only had a total of 4 inches of bottom tusk. The boar in the T class weighed in at 300 pounds but had a grand total of 8 inches of bottom ivory. Both boars have a total of 6 inches of bottom tusk circumference. These boars numerical score is equally impressive. We doubt if anyone would say that one boar is a far greater trophy than the other. It all comes down to personal preference when deciding which is favored. If both boars were standing down range at 200 yards, which one would you pull the trigger on? This is why the WWT scoring system classes the two boars separately, so they can compete against other boars that are physically similar. This makes the WWT scoring system the most fair and accurate way to score and classify all wild boars taken in any part of North America or the world, for that matter. All scoring must be done by an official scorer. Wild Boar USA is continually adding official scorers throughout different regions of the country. It is the hopes of all involved that the scoring system will help boar hunting surge forward in both popularity and respect while at the same time allowing documentation and competition between all giant boars taken.
