1 7v7 High School Boys Indoor Soccer League Shooters Field House I15 Benjamin Exit Updated 11/27/18 SoCo League Manager Jerry Johnson The purpose of our league to provide a competitive and fun environment for high school aged players to compete in soccer during the winter months prior to high school tryouts. All of our matches are refereed, but we expect players and coaches/captains to demonstrate outstanding self- control and sportsmanship at all times. Harsh or abusive language, or rough play will not be tolerated. Our goal is to help players improve and find a deeper love for the game of soccer through competitive play. LEAGUE MISSION, GOALS, AND POLICIES 1. The mission of SoCo Soccer League is to provide a competitive environment for high school aged players to improve their game. 2. Safety is critical and our referees are instructed to protect all players. 3. SPORTSMANSHIP POLICY. At no time will unsportsmanlike conduct, physical or verbal abuse, or overly aggressive play be tolerated. Anyone who cannot adhere to these standards of fair play and sportsmanship will be removed from the league without a refund. A ZERO tolerance policy will be enforced regarding league rules and policies. We expect you to play and coach/captain in a way that respects the game. 4. TEAM FEE. Each team must pay the Team Fee in full by Monday, November 26 th at 6pm. Please no individual payments from players; the full Team Fee should be paid in one lump sum by the coach/captain. A team will not be admitted to the league if they have not paid. The team fee for the December 2018 league is $500. A $50 discount is given to teams where the majority of the players on your roster are members of Shooters Soccer Club, the facility and club sponsor. Teams can pay with cash, check (make it out to Jerry Johnson), or Venmo 5. REFEREE FEE. Each team is also responsible for paying the referee $10 prior to the start of each match (total $20 paid to the referee). Alternatively, teams can pay an additional $80 with their registration. 6. USE OF FACILITIES AND GOOD BEHAVIOR. To all league participants, officials, and fans: please remember that we are guests of the facility in which we play. Please do not abuse the building, its staff, or anyone within the facility. This includes leaving trash behind, swearing, yelling at referees, or any other acts that would be deemed disrespectful. 2 7. GAME RESCHEDULES. We will not reschedule games to different dates to accommodate teams. We only have the facility available for the dates listed below. Make sure the dates work with your schedule before signing up. 8. UYSA AFFILIATION. For liability insurance purposes, all players must be registered with UYSA. Any player not registered with UYSA can do so for $15 through the SSC registrar who will provide instructions by ing Any player found to be playing without UYSA affiliation will be removed from the league and their team will automatically forfeit any games in which they played. We will check UYSA player affiliations between the first and second games of the season. This is not a high school sponsored league and is not affiliated with UHSAA. PLAYERS AND ROSTERS, COACHES / CAPTAINS, REGISTRATION 1. # OF PLAYERS ON FIELD. A team on the field shall consist of not more that 7 players (6 field players and 1 GK). A minimum of 5 players on a team is required to start a match. 2. PLAYERS AGES. Players must be high- school aged (U16- U19 or 9-12 grade). 3. ROSTER SIZE. A team can have as few as 7 players, but no more than 10 players listed on their roster. 4. COACHES / CAPTAINS. A team can be organized by an adult coach or by a player captain. In other words, an adult coach is not necessary to field a team, but is allowed. Coaches / captains are responsible for registering their team and submitting rosters, for payment of league fees, for payment of referees at the time of the game, and for managing sportsmanship and rules with their team. A team led by a player captain must list on the roster the captain AND an adult manager who will be present on site during each match the role of the adult manager is to ensure good sportsmanship. 5. DOUBLE ROSTERING. A team can have no more than 2 secondary double- rostered players. Double- rostered players must designate a primary and secondary team, and when those two teams meet in competition, the player must play with their primary team. 6. REGISTRATION: SIGNED WAIVERS AND ROSTER SUBMISSION. By Monday, November 26 th at 6pm, the coach/captain will be responsible for providing: a signed waiver from each player and a roster to the league organizer. A blank waiver form AND a blank roster form is included at end of this document. The roster must include the following: (1) coach/captain name, contact and contact phone number; (2) full name of each player; (3) player birth date, age, and grade; and (4) team or individual photograph identifying each player. If a player is double- rostered, the coach/captain must identify if this is the player s primary or secondary team. Rosters can be updated/changed after the first game, but will be locked for the season at the time the second game is played. 3 LEAGUE RULES 1. GAMES. Games will last 40 minutes: two 20 minute halves, running clock. Half time: 2 minutes. No grace period: the clock will start and end on time regardless of whether or not the team is ready. Come 15 minutes early to warm up and be ready to start on time. We will be on a very tight schedule with a new game starting every 45 minutes. No timeouts. Games that end in a tie will be recorded as a tie. 2. FORFEITS. Games will be forfeited after 10 minutes if a team does not have enough players. The team that forfeits will be responsible to pay the full $20 in ref fees for the forfeited game. This fee must be paid before the next scheduled match or the team will not be allowed to play 3. EQUIPMENT. Each team must wear a uniform. Home team will wear their solid dark color (jersey and socks) and away team will wear their white (or light) color (jersey and socks). Shin guards are mandatory: no exceptions! Home team will provide two size 5 soccer balls for the match. 4. FIFA RULES AND INDOOR EXCEPTIONS. We will follow FIFA rules with the following exceptions. Kickoffs and corner kicks are indirect kicks. Throw ins are taken as an indirect kick from the touch line where the ball leaves the field of play. The opponent must give a 4 yard space for this restart. Any ball that hits the ceiling or netting is given to the opposing team and the restart is a throw in (indirect kick) from the touch line nearest where the ball hit the net. Players must give a 5 yard (rather than 10 yard) space for a direct kick restart. All penalty kicks shall be taken 9 yards from the goal line. Substitutions are free flowing near midfield. However, the exiting player must be off the field of play and not involved in play before the entering player can enter. Violation of this rule will result in an indirect kick to the opposing team at the location where the player enters the field. Goalkeeper shall not drop kick the ball, and shall not throw the ball beyond the half way line. Restart is an indirect free kick from the point of the infraction if dropkicked or from the half way line if the ball is thrown past the halfway line. When a goalkeeper handles a ball played from a teammate, the indirect kick restart will be taken from the penalty area line parallel to the goal line. Any player receiving a yellow card will be sent off for two minutes without a substitute. The offending team will have to play a man down either until the two minutes has passed or the opposing team scores a goal. If the opposing team scores a goal, the offending team can restart with a full set of players but the person with the yellow card cannot substitute back in until the 2 minute suspension is served. The referee will signal when the two- minute penalty is served. Any player receiving a red card will serve a one- game suspension from the next scheduled match. Any player receiving two red cards (hard or soft) will be suspended for the remainder of the league. No offsides. No sliding (except goalkeepers to kick save within the penalty area). The restart is an indirect free kick and the offending player will automatically be issued a yellow card. Restarts must be taken within four seconds. Otherwise, a throw in will be awarded to the opposing team at the touchline nearest where the infraction occurs. 3

4 LEAGUE SCHEDULE. We will run a 16- team league and an 8 game season, with the league running from December 1 to December 28. Games will be held on Monday nights between 8pm and 10:15pm, Tuesday nights between 8pm and 11pm, Friday nights between 7pm and 10pm, and Saturday afternoons between 12pm and 3:45pm. The league will be divided into two divisions (gold = highest level of competition; and silver = intermediate level of competition). Team placement will be based on several factors, including age of players, desired level of play, club team results, etc. Each team will play every other team in their division (7 games) with championships (1 game) held on the final day of the league. In general gold division games will be held on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and silver division games will be held on Mondays and Fridays however, there may be some overlap depending on scheduling needs. The format and league schedule will be provided to each coach/captain by November 28. 6 LIABILITY RELEASE In consideration of being allowed to participate in the SoCo Indoor Soccer League, I acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that: 1) The risk of injury from the activities involved in this program is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death, and while particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist; and, 2) I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES (SoCo Indoor League - Shooters Soccer Club) or others, and assume full responsibility for my participation; and, 3) I willingly agree to comply with the stated and customary terms and conditions for participation. If, however, I observe any unusual significant hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention of the nearest official immediately; and, 4) I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS the Releasees (SoCo Indoor League - Shooters Soccer Club), their officers, officials, agents, and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessors of premises used to conduct the event ("RELEASEES"), WITH RESPECT TO ANY AND ALL INJURY, DISABILITY, DEATH, or loss or damage to person or property, WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
