古勞詠春二字拑陽馬 Yi Ji Kim Yeung Ma Training stance to develop structure and power. Do not be obsessed with it in a fight. Do not limit yourself with forms in a fight. Character 二, based on two uneven lines and tighter angles; as opposed to other stances based on 90 degrees angles and flat lines. Kim Yeung 拑陽, holding the Yang like a pair of pliers. It is not about squeezing the knees, but consolidating the Yang/Dantian/Pelvic as the central power generator. Pay particular attention to the opening and folding of the hip joint. The body forms and S line, to facilitate the distribution of forces. Also acts like a suspension system. There are no straight lines, but curved lines and curved planes. Force vectors are curved and dynamic, not straight and dead. Used both in training how to express power, as well as receiving strikes.

古勞詠春梁贊二十二式 Kulo Wing Chun Leung Jan 22 Sansau (KL22) Complete Set These are not just techniques, but more importantly to be looked at as exercises to develop attributes, habits and to illustrate strategies. In a real fight, there are no techniques! Each Sansau has its own signature and methods. Can be divided into 5 (overlapping) sections: Fundamental, Power Development, Double Palm Momentum Management, Extended Techniques and Summary. Much like learning how to run, there is NO right way or wrong way to do the 22 Sansau; they are NOT fixed but to be experienced and developed by the practitioner to find the most effective and efficient path for himself/herself. Each Sansau has a number of extensions and variations.

Section 1: Fundamentals 豬蹄拜佛手 - Buddha Palm The MOST IMPORTANT exercise for the development of power Turn the body into a high tensile steel spring Train the mind to project spirals 日字鳳眼捶 - Phoenix Eye Hammer Maps the static coverage space, the triangle and the sphere Learn to use the fists/elbows like hammers The most fundamental arm movements of the entire system 十字四門虎尾捶 - Tiger Tail Hammer The dynamic coverage space The 十字手 Cross Hand, the most fundamental KL22 two handed coordination. 撐雞腳 - Pheasant Kick Basic leg technique Ultimately, what the hands can do, the legs also reproduce. 龍掙珠 ( 摽捶 ) - Dragon Pearl the emergency hand to counter the previous 4 Sansau techniques! 摽捶 Biu Tsui as the extended technique.

Section 2: Power Development 小捻手 - Small Twirling Hands power training: the hand spirals 大捻手 - Large Twirling Hands power training: whole arm spirals 三戰捶 - Three War Hammer power training: upper torsal spirals and leg spirals 大耕手 - Plough Hands power training: mid-section spirals 大膀挂捶 - Bong and Back Hammer power training: whole body spirals

Section 3: Double Palm Momentum Management 疊掌 - Stack Palms Horizontal management of the opponent's momentum and structure Can be used to develop the 沈橋勁 Sinking Bridge Power Illustration of the 二管二跟手管勢 2 on 2 hand sticking momentum management 攔撐掌 - Obstruct and Prop Perpendicular spatial coverage 一出一入十字破勢 1 in 1 out perpendicular momentum destroyer 撐掌 Prop Palm 勾手切掌 - Hook and Slice Horizontal hook in and 切掌 slice palm 烏魚翻泥 - Fish Flip Introduction of elbow techniques note: almost ALL KL22 hand techniques can be used as elbow techniques!

Section 4: Extended Techniques 切指擒橋 - Controlling Bridge Capturing the opponent's bridge with lightest contact. Training the slipping body Similar to Lap Sau 鶴膀手 - Crane Wing An overhead 膀手 Bong Sau 騰馬摽指 - Evade and Finger Dart Jumping 騰馬 footwork 雙龍出海 - Double Dragon 二管一外門破勢 2 on 1 outside gate momentum destroyer 跪馬捶 - Bowing Horse Hammer extended lower level techniques extended legs/hips power training facilitate take downs, leg/stance trapping and counter.

Section 5: Summary 連環三掌 ( 三板掌 ) - Three Palm Combo combination of 3 palms: 疊掌 橫掌 底掌 Stack Palm, Horizontal Double Palm, Lower Palm Illustrates multiple coverage using 十字手 Cross Hands As an example reminder that all 22 Sansau to be used as Combo's! 八挂 - Pulling Eight spatial coverage, reverse to the Phoenix Eye Hammer extended circling, through the elbows (as opposed to through the wrists in Buddha Palm) extended exercises of the back muscles and core muscles 伏虎 - Subdue Tiger developing the KL22 internal power: the Subdue Tiger Energy 伏虎勁 the Subdue Tiger Energy 伏虎勁 is used in EVERY movement in KL22 As a conclusion: Buddha Palm trains the body, Subdue Tiger trains the mind. One Yang, one Yin. Dr. John K. Fung Kulo Wing Chun Leung Jan 22 Sansau Copyright 2012
