Fliip Solitaire Tools Level One (BETA) General The game-play proceeds as per normal except for the following Your Opponent's play decisions are made using the spreadsheets. You will need to place your Opponent's play card on the field and align it with your play card and read the outcome from the defense card. You will need to roll the dice for your Opponent's kick and read the result from their kick table. Play Calling When you are on offense you pick your play as normal and then use the defense spreadsheet to read the opponent's defense play selection. Your Opponent does not have any knowledge of your personnel when making their selection. This is a simplification from the two-player base game-play. When you are on defense you will read your Opponent s choice for personnel from the offense spreadsheet (while keeping their play selection hidden), pick your play, and then read your Opponent s offense play selection from the spreadsheet. This means that when you when you pick your defense play you have knowledge of the Opponent's personnel but not their play. This matches the two-player base game-play. Skills (including Audibles and No Huddle play-calling) cannot be used with this level of Solitaire tools.

Kicking When your Opponent is kicking-off use their kick-off table and roll three dice and read the outcome from the normal kick-off column. Use the After-Safety column if you tackled your opponent in their end-zone for a safety. When Opponent is punting use their punt table and roll three dice and read the outcome from the normal punt column. The spreadsheet will not select a pooch punt but you can use your discretion to use this type of punt on behalf of your Opponent if you think the decision is obvious. When Opponent is attempting a field-goal use their fieldgoal table and roll three dice and read the outcome from the appropriate column per the line-of-scrimmage. Opponent Styles Styles reflect opponent tendencies and are not absolutes. For example if you set your opponent to have a Power style on offense then your Opponent will use Power more frequently than the other personnel. It does not mean they will always use Power personnel. If you select BBB your Opponent will not have any tendencies. Opponent Styles (Offense) Personnel P = Power which means your Opponent will use Power personnel more frequently than the other personnel B = Balanced which means your Opponent will use each personnel with equal frequency S = Spread which means your Opponent will use Spread personnel more frequently than the other personnel

Aggressive versus Conservative A = Aggressive which means your Opponent will use aggressive plays with equal frequently as conservative plays B = Balanced which means your Opponent will use conservative plays more frequently than aggressive plays C = Conservative which means your Opponent will use conservative plays much more frequently than aggressive plays Expected versus Unexpected E = Expected which means your Opponent will tend to run when in Power personnel and pass when in Spread personnel. B = Balanced which means your Opponent will run with equal frequency from every personnel. U = Unexpected which means your Opponent will tend to pass when in Power personnel and run when in Spread personnel. Opponent Styles (Defense) Personnel P = Power which means your Opponent will use Power personnel more frequently than the other personnel B = Balanced which means your Opponent will use each personnel with equal frequency S = Spread which means your Opponent will use Spread personnel more frequently than the other personnel Aggressive versus Conservative A = Aggressive which means your Opponent will use aggressive plays with equal frequently as conservative plays B = Balanced which means the Opponent will use conservative plays more frequently than aggressive plays C = Conservative which means your Opponent will use conservative plays much more frequently than aggressive plays

Inside/Outside versus Left/Right IO = Inside/Outside which means your Opponent will tend to focus more frequently Inside and Outside. B = Balanced which means your Opponent will focus in all four areas with equal frequency. LR = Left/Right which means your Opponent will tend to focus more frequently to their Left and Right. Fourth Down The basic choices for your Opponent when facing fourth-down on offense are "Go for it" by choosing a running or pass play in an attempt to make the first down. "Punt" the ball away using their Punt kick-table (you roll the three dice). "Field-Goal" attempt to score three points using their Field- Goal kick-table (you roll the three dice). Distances When your Opponent is facing fourth-down on offense you need to provide two distances The yards to get a first down Distance from line-of-scrimmage to the first-down-line The yards to the goal-line Distance from line-of-scrimmage to the goal-line Ranges from 1 (closest to scoring) to 99 (farthest from scoring) You only need to enter these two distances when your Opponent has 4th down on offense. These distances are in the direction your Opponent is facing on offense. Kicking Demarcations Field-Goals are not attempted if the line-of-scrimmage is more than 45 yards from the goal-line.

This is the longest field-goal that can be attempted per the field-goal table. Punts are not attempted if the line-of-scrimmage is less than 46 yards from the goal-line. Go-for-It Biases Yards to first down Shorter yards required will increase the frequency of "Gofor-It" decisions and reduce punts and attempted fieldgoals. Yards to the goal-line Field position will bias fourth down "Go-for-It" decisions. If your Opponent is near their end-zone this will reduce "Go-for-It" decisions and increase punts. Your Opponent will not want to give you possession near their end-zone. If your Opponent is near your end-zone this will reduce "Gofor-It" decisions and increase field-goal attempts. Your Opponent will not want to pass-up an easy field-goal. Aggressive versus Conservative Your Opponent's offense style choice for aggressive versus conservative will bias fourth down "Go-for-It" decisions. The Aggressive style will tend to increase the choice to "Gofor-It" and reduce punts and attempted field-goals. The Conservative style will tend to decrease the choice to "Go-for-It" and increase punts and attempted field-goals. Override You have the option to override the play choices made by the spreadsheets if there is a very obvious decision to be made by your Opponent. This could occur in certain instances where your opponent should reasonably do something but the spreadsheet does not have the situational awareness to make this decision. The spreadsheet is set-up to work in a quick simple fashion

by not asking you to input details such as score and end-ofgame details. This means that situations may arise where over-riding the spreadsheet is justified. For example, if your Opponent is driving down the field on their last possession and they are trailing by 4 points then attempting a field-goal on fourth-down makes no sense. If the spreadsheet says attempt a field-goal in this situation you might over-ride the spreadsheet and run a play to try to pick up the first down. Levels There are three planned levels for the Fliip Solitaire Tools Level One Integrates Fourth-Down situational awareness into your Opponent Planned future Level Two and Three will provide additional functionality Level Two Integrate Third-Down situational awareness into your Opponent. Integrate End-of-Game situational awareness into your Opponent. Integrate offense personnel selection situational awareness your opponent is on defense. Option to auto-select the styles of your Opponent such that you will have to infer their styles as the game progresses. Level Three Integrate "Skills" into the Solitaire game-play. Notes on Using Tools The spreadsheets will work best in a desktop or laptop environment (just because it s generally harder to use Excel in a phone or tablet environment).

Use only the front sheets of each spreadsheet labeled Offense and Defense. The other tabs are the background calculations and can be ignored. Disclaimer Published by Fliip, LLC, Dallas, TX.
