12 Kids Judo Original Intent was to grow a kids program by developing teachers Kids program may need: New curriculum New (separate?) times Specialized instructors or instructor team Organized Recruiting effort New Venue 12

13 Teacher Development Assumption is that Black belt is teaching rank Culture of Teachers may challenge that assumption Need to provide equivalent learning experience regardless of teacher Requires design and development of shareable, modular curriculum Need to identify who wishes to identify as a teacher-trainee 13

14 Events Current state: too few Judo events locally; few events within a 4 hour drive Desirable state: enough events to support judoka having appropriate opportunities for growth Shiai: Enough shiai to develop recreational and serious competitors and to support would-be referees; also to provide points earning opportunities for promotion Kata: Clinics and competition to introduce katas, develop kata competitors and kata judges Clinics: Opportunities to develop teachers, coaches, referees, and technical officials Fundraisers/Special Events 14

DC Judo doesn t need to host them all Huio hosts Referee clinic (usually in January) College Park/Huio Host Maryland Open, Ken Tamai, and Beltsville Open Few other clubs are able to host events reliably Core promotion activities fall to DC Judo Fantasy schedule would require much more hosting by DC Judo Currently limited human resource availability Would need to develop both human resources to play required roles and the technical means to do so more easily DC Judo hosting could train and inspire other hosts OR it could concentrate event resources at DC Judo. 16

17 National Level Judo DC Judo has a long history of sending competitors to National, primarily Leah and Terence Senior National Competition now includes novice and brown belt divisions in addition to black belt divisions Masters Competition Kata Competition Strong local support and small national level pools 17
