The Payday lift will operate for early-season biking and hiking access beginning May 25 at the Park City Mountain Village. The high-speed four-seat Crescent Lift also runs out of the Park City Mountain Village and unloads mountain bikers at access points for the IMBA Epic Ride on the Mid-Mountain Trail. The Red Pine Gondola runs out of Canyons Village and accesses miles of gorgeous crosscountry trails. Bike rentals are available at both base areas. 4 MOUNTAIN BIKING IN PARK CITY Small riders. Big dreams. Youth cycling programs are grooming the future generation of mountain bikers. Young Riders youth cycling program offers once-a-week and week-long camps for never-evers to advanced riders (ages 5-13) teaching safety, riding techniques, climbing, descending, obstacles, and mechanical skills. Small group instruction is also available through the Kids Downhill/Freeride Program at Deer Valley (ages 9-14) and Basin Recreation Mountain Bike Camps (ages 6-14). Summit Bike Club s athlete development programs prepare kids to compete locally, nationally, and even internationally to achieve their ultimate cycling goals. Hit the road. New and improved! Deer Valley will begin the design and construction for their latest blue flow trail this summer to offer a new view from two wheels. The 8% grade trail on Bald Eagle will be 3-4 miles of beginner/intermediate terrain, and will provide access to more trails by connecting mid-mountain to lower-mountain. From novice to pro, every rider will have a new challenge to hone their skills this season. A growing number of bikers are hitting the pavement to enjoy meandering back roads, heart-pumping climbs, and breathtaking views of Park City s Wasatch mountains. Road cycling is on the rise, and those wanting to take it to the streets are fully supported by the community s collection of bike shops that offer top-of-the-line rentals, repairs and retail services. Showcasing the state s most beautiful landscape for riders and spectators alike, the Tour of Utah, one of the top professional cycling events in North America, returns to Park City on August 11 & 12, 2018 for the ninth time and will host the final leg and overall finish for the sixth year in a row. The strength of Park City s biking community lies in the grass root efforts of passionate groups dedicated to maintaining the world-class trail system and building on its success. This summer, Ross Downard of Mtn Ranks will host Trail Dig Day where volunteers will put their shovels to work on downhill trails buffing out old, creating new, and bringing some old favorites back to life. Organizations like Mountain Trails Foundation, Basin Recreation and Summit Land Conservancy work to educate trail users on safety issues, trail etiquette, and how they can help protect public lands. 7
