And though it is always a bittersweet time for the family, its great to get together to once again share in Vince's spirit. Vince, who was an avid powerlifter and trainer, passed away in In the raw bench press event Micah Stout broke the Ohio state record for the novice/165 class with 315. Ross Fordyce won at 198 with 265. For the teenage men it was Ray Porter with a new state record of 160 while Matt Bee won at 132 with 190. Logan Dallas broke the state record for the 148 class with 260 while Jordan Grupenhof won at 181 with 245. New lifter Jesse Ramirez won at junior/165 with 295. Scott Baker came over from Indiana for the win at 40-44/181 with a new state record of 315. At it was Jeff Chrissis with a new state record of

4 365 while Mark Boy took the 242's with 430. Charles Hook won at 55-59/308 with 315 while Joe Hollars set the mark at 60-64/165 with 235. State record holder Mike Brown came within five pounds of that record with his 380 win at 65-69/242. Our oldest competitor of the day was Drew Lindsley, who broke his own state record at 70-74/165 by five pounds, ending with 210. At police & fire/40-44/242 Scott Russell broke the state record with 365. Nicholas Adkins did the same at p&f/open/198 with his 285 final attempt. In the open division Dale Sledge set the state record at 308 with 500 while James Tompkins finished second there with 370. Dale was awarded the best lifter trophy among the raw lifters. For the assisted lifters Tanner Kerschner broke the state record at 13-15/132 with 185. Steve Spinelli, who finished as our best assisted lifter, broke the state record at 40-44/220 with 555. Todd Stamm finished second at 220 with 325. At 308 it was David Raines with 430 for the win there. Roger Love won at 45-49/198 with 300 while Kirk Bardos won at 242 with 350 and James Wells took the the 275's with a new state record of 530. Rick Hamsher won at 50-54/181 with a new state record of 405 while Jeff Chrissis won at 198 with 445. Our final assisted lifter was Garry Benford, who broke the state record at 55-59/198 with 425. The amazing Mr. Benford is still breaking bench press records even after two replaced shoulders and two hip replacements! We did have one lifter in the bench press for reps competition, Chris Robert. Chris finished with a new state record of 16 reps with 155. Moving to the deadlift event, eleven year old Elani Ritzler broke the state record for the 13-15/97 class with her personal best 135. Micah Stout broke the state record at novice/165 with 485. Logan Dallas won his second title of the day at 13-15/148 with another state record of 395. Rocky Henderson finished second at 148 with 340. Dustin Pfeiffer won at 16-17/198 with 370 while Robb Henderson took the title at 40-44/198 with 440. Kirk Bardos won at 45-49/242 again with 530 while Rick Hamsher pulled 490 for the win at 50-54/181. Kirk and Rick have lifted in every Vince Soto Memorial meet we have held. Also at was Jeff Chrissis, who won at 198 with 410 and Kurt Hall, who set the state record at 275 with 555. Joe Hollars won at 60-64/165 with 410 while Don Landanyi broke the state record at 65-69/181 with 335. John Pfeiffer also got a state record for his class, p&f/45-49/220 with his 360 final pull. Our best lifter in the deadlift went to Dale Sledge, who pulled an easy 700 state record at open/308. Second place went to James Tompkins, who finished with 565. Thanks to my son Joey Latch and Weeman for doing a great job loading and spotting and to my side judges Jeff Ritzler and James Tompkins.
