5 N.Z Grand Prix Hydroplane Drivers Club Inc. RULES The current U.I.M. Circuit Rules, including the 903 Grand Prix Hydroplane Class section & the NZPBA ( ) Rules. All boats, drivers and procedures will comply with these Rules Special attention is drawn to the following U.I.M. Circuit Rules & NZPBA Rules NZPBA Rules 53 to 57 FLAGS 53. BLUE FLAG-competitors must immediately take to the water. 54. DAYGLOW RED FLAG-denotes the closing of the water, competitors must Cautiously return to the pit area and await instructions. Failure to observe this Procedure will incur a period of license suspension. A DAYGLOW RED FLAG Displayed by the official starter when in control of a start indicates a false start. Competitors must cease racing immediately and line up again with the start boat In their respective pole positions. 55. WHITE FLAG A/.Dropping of this flag signifies the start of a race. B/.The waving of this flag indicates that boats are entering the last lap. C/.The display of the White Flag by the official starter when in control of The start boat will indicate to competitors that they are required to line Up with the start boat in their respective pole positions. Pole 1 being Next to the start boat on its starboard side. The dropping of the flag will Signal that the race has started. 56. CHEQUERED FLAG-denotes the finish of a race. Flag remains hoisted after The first boat crosses the finish line. The start boat will move to the start/finish Line after starting the race. Duplicate signals will be hoisted at this point to Match those hoisted at race control. 57. YELLOW FLAG-denotes race conclusion after all boats have crossed the Finish line, course must be cleared. 58. WHITE WITH RED DIAGONALS-caution flag flown by rescue boats. UIM RULE 320- POSTING OF THE RESULTS The results of each race will be posted at Race control following the completion of each race PROTEST PROCEDURES All protests shall be lodged according to the 400 series rules - Jurisdiction. Any protest must be lodged according to the U.I.M. Rules within 1 hour of the posting of the results. The protest fee shall be NZ $

6 N.Z Grand Prix Hydroplane Drivers Club Inc. Reinforced Cockpits EVENT RULES All entrants should note that particular attention will be applied to the inspection of reinforced cockpits and canopies. All reinforced cockpits, canopies, restraint systems and driver emergency air supply systems must meet at least the minimum requirements as contained in UIM Rule 509. Any boat that does not comply or is deemed to be un-safe may not be permitted to compete. Dry Pits The Dry Pits will be available for team set-up from 3 rd February The Race Administration office will be open from 3 rd February Once a boat is registered it shall not be permitted to leave the Dry Pits for any reason unless agreed by the Officer Of the Day (race controller) The Dry Pits shall be open to the public with restricted access during low activity periods. There shall be NO SMOKING anywhere within the compounds of the Dry Pits. Each team will be allocated ground area for boat and trailer, tow vehicle, workshop or container. Each team may erect sponsor displays within their allocated area. No structures are allowed over 5 meters in height. There shall be no alcohol consumed within the Dry Pits. The NZGP Club will provide hospitality area for entertainment. Prize Giving Sunday 3 th February at Lake Karapiro Domain Don Rowland s Centre Prize Giving to commence at 6.00pm Entertainment/Food Race teams are requested to utilize central facilities for catering needs outside of team requirements. Team member catering on allocated team areas is acceptable. Fuel Dump area in Hydroplane Pits: For all competitors: 6

7 N.Z. Grand Prix Hydroplane Drivers Club Inc. Rubbish All general rubbish and/or discarded products must be deposited in the provided and marked Containers. Cranage All teams shall launch and retrieve their boats in the order that the Chief Pit Officer allocates. Publicity on Boats It is a requirement that each boat carry event sponsors decals for the duration of the event. Registration and Documentation All competitors are required to register at the Race Administration Office on Friday February 3 Lake Karapiro Cambridge Hours are as listed in the event time table. The boat drivers must produce the following valid documents at Race Administration: 1. The current UIM Approved Boat Measurement Certificate signed by the competitors National Authority 2. Current Drivers License issued by drivers National Authority. 3. Letter of Ratification by the relevant National Authority or National Authority endorsement of Entry Form. On completion of Registration a scrutineering form will be issued which will enable competitors to present their boats for scrutineering. No competitor will be allowed to practice or race until these formalities and scrutineering are completed. Technical Scrutineering All competitors are required to have their boats at the Dry Pits at the specified times to complete technical scrutineering. A boat can only be scrutineered following the satisfactory completion of registration. All boats submitted for scrutineering should be absolutely ready to race with all equipment required, as described in the current relevant UIM & NZPBA Rules. Only for reasons of force majeure, may a boat be scrutineered outside of the official times. Fire Extinguisher System All entries in the GP World Championship, shall have on board the required Fire Extinguishing System. Weighing All entries in the GP World Championship will be weighed at the Technical scrutineering. Noise Restrictions There are at present no noise restrictions at this venue. 7

Insurance Overseas competitors on producing a letter of release from their country will be given honorary membership to the NZPBA and therefore be covered under the NZPBA Insurance as New Zealand members. Drivers Meetings There will be a compulsory GP Hydroplane Drivers only meeting with the Race Committee and UIM Commissioner Friday 6 th February Lake Karapiro, on the top floor of the Control Tower. Failure to attend could cause disqualification. Drivers Briefings Drivers briefings, will be held on each morning before racing commences It is mandatory that all Drivers, including any Test or Reserve Drivers be present for the entire duration of these meetings. All Drivers must answer to a role call prior to the start of Each meeting to confirm their presence. Failure to attend will result in disqualification from the event. The only exception to this rule will be for genuine reasons of force majeure. It is essential that all Drivers, before attending this meeting, read and be totally conversant of the Rules, Race Instructions and the Race Course. Race Courses The Race Course diagrams are attached to the rear of this document. All course marker buoys will be laid as close as possible to the longitude - latitude positions provided in this document. Failure to complete the course correctly, as described in the Race Instructions and/or a Race Bulletin will result in disqualification from that race. The Race Committee reserves the right to change any of the course marks for any reason that may be considered necessary. Any such change will be notified at the Drivers Briefing. Starting Procedures NZPBA Rule 48. Pole boat starts for all heats. Starts will be rolling and under the control of the Official GP starter in the start boat. Charging through the start line by any boat is prohibited and any offender may be disqualified from that heat. Pole Positions Lane positions for the first heat will be drawn out of the hat by the drivers. This will be supervised by the Race Committee. Pole position for heats 3, will be on the preceding Heat times, and positions will then be by Olympic draw. Fastest time picks their pole position and so on. 8
