8 1998 MicroStation SE is on the street AutoCAD 14 has been out for over a year and is now in use Prices have remained constant... New low cost products like IntelliCAD and Imagineer are on the market Microsoft doesn't have a CADD package MicroStation XM is on the street AutoCAD 2006 has been out for over a year and is now in use Prices have gone up a bit but is hard to buy a copy Low cost products while still around aren t in stand alone use Microsoft doesn t have a CADD package GOOGLE DOES MicroStation Connect is on the street AutoCAD 2019 is now in use Hard to buy individual copies, Subscription is now the goto CADD now does it all Microsoft doesn t have a CADD package and neither does GOOGLE... conslidation

9 1998 Bentley and Autodesk have acquired engineering and design products in every major area of the CADD industry The return of one stop shopping and turn key solutions Can you say I B M? 2006 Bentley and Autodesk have acquired JUST ABOUT EVERY engineering and design products in every major area of the CADD industry You have your choice of color as long as it is BLACK Can you say LOCKED IN? 2018 CADD, Surveying and Design software is now controlled by a few Major vendors. Independent Highway Engineering software is just about EXTINCT. Traditional data formats changing / expanding Locked in or time to Escape? Consolidation 2

10 2018 New Players are looking at the AEC CADD market. Think Trimble, Siemens, Nemetschek, Dassaults Systemes to name a few. CADD Market is much bigger than just AEC and the other markets are a bit saturated Can you say Competition? Or Confusion/continued compatibility issues? Paradigm

Still as much an ART as it is a Science. It s not over till the paper work is done..
