2 Welcome to Sweden and the European Youth League Final 2015 On behalf of the Swedish Shooting Sport Federation, I would like to express my great joy and happiness to have the possibility to host renowned young representatives of the shooting sport here in Sweden. I feel proud to be able to host and admire our young talents of the shooting sport, which were selected during the entire year all around Europe, in the competition European Youth League. I would like to thank the European Shooting Confederation, for the trust and support that they have given us in the organizing committee and all our staff in this Youth League Final. We will do our best to make this final a joyful, exciting and fair air gun competition. I m glad that you all will be able to see Sweden, and especially the countryside of Småland and the great air gun venue in Rottne. 3 Welcome to Rottne and Söraby Shooting Club Söraby Shooting Club is the oldest club in Rottne with its 115 years. Over the years we have been training and competed in many different disciplines, but during the last years we have more and more specialized in air rifle. Our club has been very successful in competitions, and in 1994 one of our athletes became air rifle junior world champion. The shooting club has many youth activities, and over the years the club has invested in modern and appealing premises. We were among the first clubs in Sweden to equip our air gun hall with electronic scoring targets. In the beginning of 2015 we started using our new shooting hall with 30 lanes for air rifle and air pistol. We also have 5 firing places where it is possible to shoot in three positions with air rifle. It is in this new shooting hall, Sörabyhallen, that the European Youth League Final 2015 now will be held. It is a great pleasure for us to host the European Youth League Final, with some of the best young athletes from Europe participating. We will do our utmost to give you an enjoyable stay during the days of competition. Welcome to Rottne and Söraby Shooting Club. 4 ABOUT THE EUROPEAN YOUTH LEAGUE In 2008 the former President of the European Shooting Confederation Unni Nicolaysen launched the idea of a special tournament for young athletes. The aim was to introduce the youths to international championships, especially the Youth Olympic Games, in a friendly atmosphere and in the spirit of fair play. There is no individual competition but a mixed team event for boys and girls in the age of 14 to 18 years. The first qualification of the EYL started in 2009 with the Final taking place in Denmark. The 7th edition of the EYL is now close to its highlight. Young athletes from all over Europe have competed in three different steps. In January the first elimination competitions took place, followed by the qualification rounds in the 3 regions North, West and East. From the regional competitions in Norway, Austria and Croatia the winning teams and the second placed teams qualified for the Final in Sweden. The host country always has the right to participate at the Final with one Rifle Team and one Pistol Team. Awards In addition to the EYL Medals the teams entering the podium will also get a special trophy from the host federation to keep as a nice souvenir. The ESC challenge trophies will be awarded to the best rifle and the best pistol teams for 1 year. 5 ABOUT THE EYL FINAL 2015 Number of participating athletes: 59 Number of participating countries: 15 The competition consists of: Qualification matches: - 15 min preparation and sighting time - 12 min for each 10 shots (total 40 shots) Final matches: - 8 min preparation and sighting time - Presentation - 20 shots, shot by shot 50s (as per ISSF rule), after each shot the results will be announced The mixed team of each Federation consists of 3 athletes for Air Rifle and 3 athletes for Air Pistol (3 athletes from the maximum 5 entered athletes).
