2 2 Context In 2010 a CAF & education version of the model has been defined by the European CAF Network because of the high level of interest shown by this sector organizations in many MSs. The Common Assessment Framework reached in June this year its given target of 3500 registered CAF Users at European level (now 3700). According to the number of registered cases the use of the model in the Education sector is significant (around a quarter of the total). In Italy, the MS with the highest number of cases of CAF users (around 800), the schools represent the large majority (about 70%).

3 3 4th European CAF survey The Italian Public Administration Department promoted the new European survey regarding the use of CAF model. The last was realized in The survey has been designed in collaboration with the European CAF Network and the European CAF Resource Center managed by EIPA.

4 4 CAF Event history and format Italy was the first to launch the idea and to organize the European CAF Event that has become a regular meeting for the European community of CAF users. Italy 2003, Portugal 2005, Luxemburg 2007, Romania 2010, Norway 2012 Format: plenary and parallel sessions for case presentations Participants: CAF users & CAF national experts Content: focused mainly on CAF implementation process and policies of diffusion.

5 5 6 th European CAF Users Event Rome, 14 November 2014 Title: Impact and results with CAF - The Exemplary case of the Education Sector New Format: plenary and parallel session + 2 panel discussions and 2 agoras to guarantee interaction among participants. Participants: CAF users & CAF national experts together with non CAF users, working in different sectors Goal: The Event as a forum for presentation and discussion of the findings of the 4 th European survey on the use of the CAF model but also as an occasion to exchange and collect new ideas on how to improve the performance of public sector organisations.

10 10 CAF Event content The lessons learned from the Education sector, very strategic for the social and economic development of the European Union, can help in evaluating the added value of using the model for all public organisations. Understanding how the improvement actions and the implemented good practices lead to better performance results and to a stronger administrative capacity is crucial for promoting and spreading more and more effectively the CAF model in the public sector. The Event will offer the opportunity to talk and compare experiences in important result areas as social responsibility and performance evaluation systems. The Event will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the contribution of performance management, starting with the self-assessment, to the building of the administrative capacity of public organizations.
