Not That Far Away: Johns Hopkins three losses this season have come by a total of 16 pionts to three teams (Randolph-Macon, Muhlenberg, Ursinus) that currently have a combined record of Get Us Now: JHU graduated a large, accomplished senior class after a magical 2009 season. With that turnover in personnel, the Blue Jays became a much younger group. JHU started just four seniors (two each on offense and defense) against Muhlenberg, just five (three on offense, two on defense) against Dickinson and only three (two on offense, one on defense) last week against Ursinus. Tomlin Sets School Record: Junior Hewitt Tomlin became JHU s career leader in wins by a starting quarterback with the win against Dickinson on October 8. Tomlin, who is now 20-8 in 28 career starts at Johns Hopkins, had been tied with JHU Hall of Famer Mark Campbell for most career wins by a starting QB. Campbell played from and was also an All-American pitcher for the Blue Jay baseball team. Below is a list of the winningest quarterbacks in school history:

2 2010 Johns Hopkins Football Notes Game 7 Notes of Interest Head Coach Jim Margraff Jim Margraff (JHU 82) is in his 21st season as the head coach at Homewood and ranks as the all-time winningest coach in school history with an overall record of (.627). He picked up career win number 125 with a 58-7 victory over Juniata ( ). The previous record for wins by a JHU football coach was 60. The 2009 season was the most successful in school history and among the most successful in Centennial Conference history. The Blue Jays grabbed their fifth Centennial title since 2002 and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. JHU finished 8th in the final AFCA Division III Poll, 11th in the final d3football.com Poll and 2nd in the Lambert Cup Poll. For his efforts, Margraff was named the d3football.com South Region Coach of the Year. Margraff guided the Blue Jays to a then school-record-tying seven wins in 1996, 1997 and 1998 before leading the Blue Jays to their first-ever post-season appearance (and victory), first-ever Centennial Conference title and a then school-record nine wins in He topped that in 2003 as JHU posted a 10-1 record with Centennial and ECAC South Atlantic Championships before leading JHU to a 9-2 record and Centennial and ECAC Southeast titles in JHU made its first appearance in the NCAA Playoffs in 2005, when the Blue Jays also grabbed their first-ever outright CC title. Margraff s.627 winning percentage is second among JHU coaches who have coached 30 or more games and the Blue Jays are (.666) since Margraff s Resurrection: Since taking over as the head coach prior to the 1990 season, Jim Margraff has guided JHU to 14 winning seasons and 132 wins. The 132 wins are four more than Hopkins accumulated in the 35 previous years combined ( ). Winngest FB Coaches - Johns Hopkins History 1. Jim Margraff ( ) (.627) 2. Dr. Ray Van Orman ( ) (.485) 3. Seven players from this class are scheduled to start on defense this week against Susquehanna and five have already amassed 100 or more career tackles, including four who reached the mark in the first two games this season. Below is a list of the five juniors who have 100 or more career tackles to their credit entering this week s game against the Crusaders. Name (Pos.) The numbers certainly bear that out. After allowing 927 yards and 62 points in their first two games combined, the Blue Jays have allowed 909 yards and 69 points in the last four combined. Turnovers Tell the Story: In JHU s three losses, the Blue Jays have turned the ball over a total of 12 times. On the flip side, they have just two total turnovers in their three wins.
